"Tonight's featured dessert is a lovely vanilla bean cheesecake with a buttery crushed digestive biscuit crust...." :scared:

Definitely loses something in the translation, don't ya think?:rotfl:

  Yes, it does lose something! But again with the dessert descriptions??? I just started back on Jenny Craig today - doing great so far (of course it is only 2:30 in the afternoon!) but then I read about s'mores and cheesecake! :scared1:

Great news! Just found out from the mortgage company that we are getting a huge refund check because the county changed the tax rate and for once we are on the receiving end! So guess what? Yup, doing the happy dance cause we're going to Disney World for that little getaway for P&PP! :dance3:
DH had the nerve to say "we'll talk about it..." Uh, don't think so! You talk, I'll book the trip!

The only mod we've ever stayed in is CSR - which of the 4 would y'all choose? We've done Boardwalk in the past, and we're doing Pop in May, so trying to go somewhere in between (plus, the FL discount seems to be the best on mods this time!). Thank you all!

Didn't mean to get everyone talking about color schemes, but I'm happy for the feedback. I think it's best if I just paint what I want and then if DH doesn't like it, we can always repaint. I think sometimes he can't visualize a color like I can so I just do it my way, so to speak, and then let him decide if he likes it. That's why I love paint - because it only costs $25 to change it! I just painted one wall of our pool bath (no, we don't have a pool, but that's what they're called in FL because it has an outside door to the back porch - great for bar-b-ques or when you have friends over, nobody tracking from outside through your house to the bathroom!) a taupy tan, and then the other walls a smoky blue. Really cool look! I'm making a triangle valance that has those colors, plus muted yellows. So that's where I'm "testing" my blue/brown/tan color scheme. So far, so good! And better than the "refreshing" colors DH had in mind! :rotfl:

Hi Girls,
Sorry I have been MIA. My cousin, who can’t drive due to her epilepsy problems, came over yesterday with her son to spend the day with us. We had a tons of fun. We went to the YMCA to swim and play but as we were having our fun the snow kept falling and falling and they actually had to spend the night. Today I went out and snow blowed for the first time EVER so I am sore. The snow was pretty heavy. The men were at work and I was afraid my Mom was going to head out there with a shovel so I decided to take a whirl at it!

Pbharris (Pam ) Good to see you buddy!
DisneyOhana (Lisa) Hi! How's your Mom???
Magicfor2 (Tammie)Got my order tonight (they shipped fast!)and I have to admit I am very excited to start using it all. I have never had to do anything with my skin (except try and clear up acne)but now I am 40 and I want to stay young looking. So I feel it's time to start!! How did you think my order looked?
THAT WOULD BE SO GREAT if I could see you at the airport. Your DH is right though. I can't go through security without a ticket so you would have to come out to see me and then go back through security again (which would be a pain).
Ahibird (keahi) How's the DCL plans going?
tttessa (tessa)When I saw digestive biscuits I busted a gut and then when I saw Cammie's post I laughed even harder!
Lovin Life ( Pam2)How's your Mom doing? I bet you are tired from all the running around, huh. I am REALLY feely the PMS and I actually like PMT better. Hope all is good now. I feel bad my DH is bugging me lately and I know it's just because I am tired, anxious and sick of winter already! The thing about my DH is he never sees why I am stomping around!
Camster0307I also agree with your rant. My Mom actually asked the guy whey so much and he said "well, you know it's 3D, right?
WHATEVER! They know us Moms are chumps!
Sewer
soontobewed07 (Jillian)Sorry about your dryer. That bites! Congrats on the 20% off. We NEVER get offered anything like that....never! It really gets my goat since we spend so much of our money there!
Good luck with LO.
SilverMickeyYummy!
karajebooCONGRATS on the bill of good health and the PPP plans!!! Yeah for you! Of course you should be going to WDW!!! Good luck with Jenny Craig and the painting projects too!

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay safe and warm!!!!!

I am so happy to have seen the link to this thread in another post. There are more people like me!!! Our trip has been planned since October, at exactly 180 days out I made the Adr's. This has been an interesting trip planning experience.
DH and I have never stayed on-site before. So in October we decided we would stay at POFQ. In November we went down to Orlando for a day trip to MK and shopping. We visited POFQ and decided we didn't like it very much. Came home and changed it to GF. A few weeks later DH decides to bring one of our daughters since she has been getting straight A's in school and the other daughters HAVE TO go and visit their dad over spring break. So I said fine. A few weeks later she decides she wants to bring her baby brother instead of him staying with my best friend. He is 3. So we add him to the ressies. At this point I stress over the ADR's and have to redo ALL of them. Somehow managed to get a table at CRT and an early morning appt at BBB!!

Now comes the resort change again. DD decided she like the ASMo better than the GF because brother can sleep in a Toy Story room. My unhappy DH changes to ASMo. Then a week later we decide they weren't even suppose to be going in the first place and we will stay where we want. So we change it to 4 nights at the Poly and 3 nights at BWV.

I had to tell my DH this morning that the changes made to the ADR's as of then were staying and I wasn't making anymore changes.

I have started my packing list and at this time it is 3 pages double columned. I am sure I can cut back on the clothing and do laundry at some point while I am there. How late are the laundry areas open? How early do they open? Anyways....our trip isn't for 57 days.

We drive my oldest girls to their dads 8 hours away, catch a plane from there into Sanford, pick up our rental car, stop at Winn-Dixie and head to the resort. That is the plan at this time. But I am worried that the room will not be ready and if we bought anything perishable it will go bad.

Then BBB.....oh what if DD hates it? What if it makes her grouchy? What if she gets a headache from her hair being too tight? What if DS won't let them put the Mickey head on his hair? Are they going to behave through dinner at Narcoossee's and California Grill?

I was also freaking out about my camera. In Dec it was our DS's b-day and one of our neighbors kids knocked my camera from a bar counter onto my tiled floor. AAAGGGHHHHH!! It still works fine, but I am sure as soon as we got there it would malfunction or something. So I bought a new one tonight. Now I am worried that I will not like it when it gets here. And how many batteries will the thing eat and where can I find rechargeable AA's at?

I worry about the kids feet hurting like mine do no matter what pair of shoes I wear. I am scared I will have a gall bladder attack when we get there or sometime during. What if I don't like my room at the Poly? What if it rains and the temp drops at night and I forget to pack their warmer clothes?

There are so many other things too. Oh I need to step back and breathe.

I am so worried about everything, I have been dreaming about everything going wrong. Except this morning was rather funny...I woke up to one of my DD's crying and I woke up and told them there was no crying in Disney World. She was a little confused.........

PS
Not only am I planning this trip, but I am planning an adults only trip when a friend flys in from CO in June and the kid Christmas in December. So 3 trips are being planned at one time. I have lots of notebooks going on right now LOL

:cheer2: Welcome Teresa! You've come to the right place. We love to listen, and we will support you! Your changes in plans already makes my head spin! Sounds like you have it all under control. Maybe with BBB your DD can choose how she wants her hair. How old is she? I'm sure your kids will have a great time, no matter where you are staying, and you are the boss :thumbsup2

There are no laundry rooms at Poly, but at BWV the laundry rooms should have the same hours as the pool. That's how it was at SSR. They locked them at 10pm. People still swam after closing, and it didn't seem to be a problem.

You will love staying onsite! You get to go in to the parks early and stay late, and if you shop you can have the items sent to your resort so you don't have to carry them around all day! If there is anything you want to change about ADRs, the concierge will help... love it! :lovestruc Don't forget to buy a refillable mug at your resort - you can fill it up at the pool bars or snack bars free for the length of your stay!
I found a small AA charger and batteries on the same rack at a local large variety store - Fred Meyer. It is an energizer brand. I just bought two packs, kept 4 charging in the room, and took 2 extra in the camera bag. Worked out fine.

I look forward to "talking with you here." Feel free to vent!

Debbie! Sounds like you had fun with your cousin! We were buried again today - even the AF base was closed. That gave DH and DS a chance to shovel off the roof! I'll post a pic tomorrow. The last time we had this much snow was 1993. I'm glad you got your order! I'm excited for you! I'll PM you. I would be glad to go through security to see you, but we won't have any way of knowing how long the lines would be...I would hate for you to come to the airport, and then me not have time to get through security.

Pam (1)! Great to see you again. Check in anytime - good luck with your home business! It's great to be able to work at home. Do you have your candy on line or anything?

Tessa! I hope you're not offended we are having a good time with your buiscuits! Funny how we can speak the same language, and yet ... NOT! :) Sounds like you are still having gun with your planning.

Hello everyone else! Somebody send us some :sunny: please!!!
:grouphug:

Hiya all,
Teresa - you sound just like the rest of us!! We have 63 "sleeps" to go before our trip and it is ALL we can talk about at home... I am trying to do a packing list, but keep forgetting we have to actually carry it all!!! But you've got me thinking now - we are staying in a "villa" - house booked by our travel agent - do they usually have a laundry room?? We could travel a bit lighter than usual and do some laundry... must check, thanks for that:thumbsup2 Mind you, hubby wants to travel REALLY light and buy everything over there - the exchange rate of $2.11 to the £1 is FANTASTIC for us.....

Now girls - I won't mind about the digestive biscuits if you don't mind about the "corporate beige"....:goodvibes

It was really weird when we first went to the States and they were serving biscuits and gravy for breakfast.... biscuits for us are like cookies or (I guess) crackers for you, and gravy is what you have with roast meat - made from the roasting juices.... so you can imagine what we thought we'd be getting!!!:lmao:

The joys of language....

Hope you are all getting better weather now - the snow seems heavy everywhere this year - we have been lucky here, but the rest of the UK is getting hit - over here 2 inches of snow is enough to make the transport network grind to a halt for some reason....
Tessa

I am a terrible worry wort too. I just booked our May trip, then lay in bed playing the "what if" game all night.

So I woke up and made a pact with myself that I would spend 2 weeks planning and worrying about every little detail. Then I am not going to mention our trip again until a few days before we leave.

I have historically ruined the quality of our trips by obsessing about it. My husband knows at this point that Disney World is not a relaxation trip, but rather a test of stamina because I am a control freak who has to do everything on her list. A teacher that I work with calls me the Disney Natzi.

I have our ADR's arranged, including CRT and BBB this time. I will type up detailed itineraries. I actually write a play-by-play itinerary with the order of the rides, (based on information I gleaned from reading the Unofficial Guide from cover to cover-800 pages-That is some pretty serious obsessing!) and my choices for lunch and dinner. (I don't like to make quick decisions so I make them ahead of time!) I will chart what clothes we will pack for each member of the family. Lastly, make a list of snacks and breakfast items to take.

Then....I am not going to talk about it again. If a family member brings it up, I will just smile and say that I am excited too. My husband is more of a laid back free spirit. I think I kill a lot of his joy by over planning, but we all know that it has to be planned ahead to be of any quality at all. So I am going to keep a low profile on the planning, so he feels like it is his vacation too.

I was missing 1 table service meal when it was time to book. DH said, "How about a Luau?" He loved our trip to Hawaii when we were first married, and I didn't over plan! I said, "OK!" Even though it just about killed me to book it without researching it to death! So we are booked at Ohauna. Of course, I see that Ohauna isn't getting stunning reviews lately, and the kids and I aren't going to be crazy about food cooked with lots of green pepper, but I really wanted to show my gentle, sweet, always lets me have my way, husband that I was a changed woman! (At least on the surface. I quickly got on the computer the next day after the family was gone and started reading reviews!)

So after all my ramblings, I just want to tell you that anything you are unsure or nervous about can be researched on this site by looking at review pages or just asking questions in the forum. Try to think of all the questions you have, get the answers, then lay it to rest. That is my plan anyway!

Welcome Teresa! :welcome: This is a good place to get it all out - we've all been there, in some shape or form! As for the laundry rooms: I noticed you're staying at the BWV - they have a washer & dryer in all of their units, except for the studios. So if you're in a 1 or 2 bdrm., you'll be able to do laundry whenever you want! I stay at the BWV all the time - you'll love it there!

Tessa - It's funny how we all have different terms for the same thing. I grew up in New Jersey and still have to face the language barrier right here in Mass.! Around here, they put "jimmies" on their ice cream.:confused3 We call them "sprinkles". The best is the pizza: coming from the NJ/NY area, we call them pizza pies, or "pies" for short. I move up here; call and order a "large pie with pepperoni", and the guy tells me, "Um, we're a pizza place; we don't sell pies here!!" Duh!:rolleyes1

We had a horrible wind and ice storm yesterday. It was a mess; but today it's around 50 degress, so it's all clear now. Have Lauren's basketball game later and then it's off to the food store to gather up some junk food for the Super Bowl tomorrow. (yes, I'm talking about bad food again!) Anyway, we have some friends coming over; nothing too big. We're HUGE Giants' fans in this house so I couldn't let the day go by without having some type of get together! So Sunday will be a day of chips, chicken, tacos and beer!:woohoo: I'm really pathetic though. I keep pushing back the day I'm going to start eating "sensibly" again. First, it was after the holidays; now it's after the Super Bowl. Next, I'm sure it will be after Valentine's Day; and, then it's the girls' Feb. vacation week and so on and so on!popcorn:: :drinking1

GO GIANTS!

Welcome Jane! I know what you mean about the planning - you want the vacation to be so perfect, you feel you have to plan, plan, plan! What I learned is that sometimes you have to be a little flexible, otherwise you won't have a good time, because your plan isn't working! :thumbsup2

I have seen some people put together binders with itineraries, etc. Maybe that would help you channel some of your Disney OCD!!! ;)

Hi Cammie! Oh yah! I forgot about the suites at BWV. I was thinking about studio laundry because that's what we stayed in at SSR.

I know what you mean about the East Coast language thing. We don't really find any "regional" dialects out here! :goodvibes When we were first married we had some friends from Philly - we were constantly explaining things to each other - hoagies, cheese steak, water ice, home box :rotfl:

Hiya all,

finally getting the trip planning going - instead of just thinking about it....... I am really trying hard to hold back from itinerary planning every day start to finish etc, as I get a feeling that we will need to go with the flow more with the kids..... When we last went to one of the uk's smaller theme parks, I planned and planned to make sure we didn't miss anything - and what was their favourite bit of the trip. The new vertical Dyson hand driers in the ladies loo!!!!!!

So annoying!!

Anyhow, we are planning to just aim for park opening , do the major must do rides early as possible and then do some ambling about seeing what takes our eye..... Leave mid afternoon, go eat, go swim and crash out... but will have 2 late days - when we go back for fireworks and fantasmic.

Early mornings suit us from the uk as we are 5 hours ahead of you guys, the body clock takes a while to reset, so we'll be waking round 4 am over there feeling it like it's 9... but also the kids will be zapped by about 2pm...

I also bought the Unofficial guide (and the Brit's guide and Tourguide Mike etc etc....) and what we are planning seems to fit all of the guides.. there is sooooooo much information out there I feel a bit overloaded trying to make sense of it all, but it does give a warm feeling as it all comes together.

Cheers,
Tessa

ooops I forgot - another dumb question - Superbowl - which sport? Is it American Football, baseball?? oh gosh - or ice hockey or basketball??? or something totally different - not into sport myself - as you can probably tell!!

Tessa

Tessa

Tessa - The Super Bowl is the championship game in "American" football. Very, very big deal here - IMO, it's overkill. Game doesn't start until 6:30pm; but pregame festivities start at 1pm! Don't know what there is to talk about for 5 1/2hrs., but these sportscasters find something. As I said earlier, we're very excited about the game this year because our team (the Giants) IS playing in it; if they weren't, I probably wouldn't give two hoots!

BTW - how do you like the "Unofficial Guide"? I just ordered the "Passporter". Been alot of debates on these boards as to which one is more helpful. Not really sure I needed it; having been to WDW every year for the past ten years, don't know if I need a "guide" for anything! But, if it has the Disney name stamped on it, I'll find some reason for buying it! I liked the idea of the Passporter seeming like a small binder, with pockets to keep tix and blank pages to write on. I'll let you know what I think of it when I get it.

Debbie & Pam2 - Did you guys take your kids to the Hannah movie yet? Couldn't remember who was going when. I got my tix for Wed. I'm sure we'll enjoy the movie - we certainly enjoyed the concert. Let me know what you thought of it.

Tammie - That weather forecast looks glorious! Oh, to be there right now!:beach: So glad January is over; I always feel that Feb. flies by and then spring is just around the corner!:dance3:

:wave2: Hi to everyone else this morning: Pam, Lisa, Kara, Jillian, Teresa, Jane, Donaldseeyore, Keahi, sewer, & silvermickey! (hope I didn't forget anyone)

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: GO GIANTS!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hiya -
Cammie - Thanks for that - I kinda would have guessed football, but didn't know for sure.... also, I love the Unofficial guide - as someone who last visited Florida 10 years ago, it is great at listing the rides and their "content" eg. scary/not , fast/slow loading etc for EVERY ride - I like that...

Also touring plans are in there, but not in-your-face. a bit of it we won't use - all about the hotels and tickets etc.., but the actual stuff on the parks and rides and times to visit etc is great for us.

Also, we subscribed to TGMike via the DIS boards - his info seems really good for us, we decided what parks on what days using his info and has good info on the restaurants etc too.

Brits guide gives us more of an overview and includes non theme park stuff too - what to expect at the airport etc. Also more on Busch gardens and Seaworld..

I think it's good to have a few different sources. Will let you all know which WAS the most useful after our trip....:goodvibes

Cheers,
Tessa

Oh my gosh - our news just had about a shooting in a Chicago store - something to do with a hold-up gone wrong, (must be bad for us to get the news here..) hope you are all ok out there....

Tessa

Cammie, I love my passporter! It has lots of pages for planning, phone numbers, budget, notes for your TR! You can get free updates the next year, too! The cruise one isn't so detailed, but a cruise is so much more laid back.

Debbie, sorry about the shooting in your "backyard." Too many crazies out there. :sad2:

I guess I'd better get working on breakfast. Have a great day, everyone!

Here is our Pirate Snowman with DGS, and our lovely snow - we have gotten about 6 more inches since then, and it is coming down hard right now.

Quick fly by...
Nice pix Tammie! Fun!
Good job planning Tessa.
Thanks for the concern everyone. Tinley park isn't too close to me but non the less very sad and scary.
Cammie, we are going on Tuesday to HM.
When our Chicago Bears aren't in the super bowl the only thing I care about is the commercials and the squares I bought. I am too tired to try and explain any of that to Tessa. How could we explain that the commercials are as big a deal as the game and cost millions of dollars...she will really think Americans are coo coo!
I'll be back tomorrow. Got my monthly friend and it's kicking my butt. Plus the kids are sick with colds.

Love all the Disney guidebooks! I have also read the Unofficial Guide front to back (and my dh has too) I really liked that book. We also bought the Passporter which I like just as much for how different it is. I love all the pockets and the places for notes in the back. It also helps my DH see just what I have planned that day. My other fav is The Complete Walt Disney World 2008 book. The pictures and the quality of the pages in the book is great.
I think my ex-inlaws may be coming with us in December. I am so happy about that since I really love them. Kinda weird huh? LOL....I divorced my ex, not them. So I think I will try and rent 2 studios from someone on the boards for our travel dates. Give my oldest girls some special time with thier grandparents as well as a magical trip.
I added another ADR today to our April trip. Also switched around 4 of them.
Trying to figure out at this time if I want to use 2 credits for CRT or 1 credir for 1900 Park Fare for the girls to see Cinderella. WWYD?
I am also another one of those people that writes down exactly what articles of clothing for each person for each day, and then I put the outfits into the gallon size ziplocs for easy dressing the next day. When we went with our son last June, I even had his clothes themed to wherever were eating or what park we were at. Yes, I am that anal. Yes, I have pics of him at Cape May in a lighthouse tee and pics at AK in a tee with a jeep in a jungle on it. Gotta love Janie and Jack and GYmboree LOL.....
I am waiting...not patiently mind you....to see if any P&PP dates will be released for the first week of April. If not, back up plan is a relaxing night at the campfire at Ft Wilderness.
