There was a short-lived remake on CW I think a few years ago. It was not popular.

It'll be Canada vs USA battling for the bronze in women's curling tomorrow. I don't know why I'm fascinated by that sport but I am.

I looooove curling. It’s so addicting to watch. It’s a lot harder to play than it looks though!

I tried curling at our local ice rink. They have leagues, but when they first started they had some free intro nights where you could just go try it. It definitely takes skill, like bowling. Also, like bowling, it's a real "beer drinker's sport." I like how they would just bring a six pack and set it on the ice - nice and cold! Curling stones are heavy, and sometimes you have to sweep really hard, so it does take some physical power. Honestly, it seemed like a lot of fun, though I just didn't know enough interested people to get a team together.

One thing I did notice is that when you just wear your shoes on the ice, your feet get really cold! I am used to skates where you are an inch or two above the ice. Curling does require special shoes, but for intro night they just had us wear our normal shoes with some slip-on covers. They do it on the skating rink, which is a little different than dedicated curling sheets (though they do texture the ice for it). I doubt there is enough demand around here for a dedicated curling center, but it's nice that we have an option.

My husband joined a curling team last fall with some people at his work. He had only tried it once before. So far it’s fun! We are in MN so a few curling clubs here.

I tried it a few years ago and totally fell flat once I let go of the stone. Guess I don’t have great core strength . I really want my son to get into it, but he plays hockey and the seasons always overlap.

I think it's because it SEEMS like a sport any of us can do without a lot of training.

Maybe? Though I’m not sure that drives my interest. I discovered curling some 50 years ago when CBC often carried curling tournaments on the weekends in winter. This was way back when “cable tv” meant we got maybe 6 channels, including Canadian because of our proximity. (OT but I also learned French on Sesame Street because we watched it on CBC.)

I'm sorry to hear that. That must have been hard for them.

Man we really have to figure out what Germany is doing with their bobsleds. They're just plain faster. It's like they're in a Red Bull and we're in an Alpine.

Monobobs have a uniform sled. The 2s and 4s you can do whatever you want as long as it's within guidelines.

I think earlier in the Olympics, a commentator said they have put more than 10 million dollars into that program.

We need James Bond to steal their bobsled secrets. And at least it's not like years past where we pretty much begged the swiss for two year old sleds just to compete.
