Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Well I talked to DH and I could go Jan 2010 or Feb 2010,but they would be coming with me and would scatter and do there own thing while we sat by the pool and had cocktails. We should try to choose the same resort and then we can all meet and just go where ever.

So Jillian, does that mean you can't go in mid-Sept. or early Oct.'09? I think alot of us are thinking we should avoid airtravel during Jan.,Feb., or March because of the very increased potential of winter weather screwing things up. And since we're only looking at a long weekend, there really is no room for travel delays.

My thinking is some time in Sept., because like Renee said, that is typically a quiet time at WDW and we could find some good deals - like free dining or discounted rooms. Early Oct. is good too, but I don't think you find as many deals. I still vote for meeting at Disney - it's our "thing". Or Kara's house!:lmao:

October would be my vote. I'm a non-snorer too. It will most likely just be me.

Early Oct. would be ok - just no free dining. And I don't know about room rates. By mid-Oct., it's starts to pick up crowd-wise and therefore, rooms may be more.

(I'm a non-snorer too; but I sleep in the nude.;) )

If not I am sure Cammie Tina and I would love to have you all here in Boston. I am sure we could find things to do. Like a winter resort with a fireplace and hot cocoa and SHOPPING!!!!

Seriously, I wouldn't mind having a bunch of you stay here with me. If we picked a weekend the girls were with their dad, I'd have an empty 4 bdrm. house. It's not the Four Seasons, but you'd have comfy beds, clean towels, and a well-stocked liquor cabinet!

Cammie - I'm here. I'm poking around on the BC boards and running quotes via Disney. For some reason, I go to print them and it locks down my explorer window. :confused3 Can you say old computer! :rotfl2:

:scared1: Just kidding! ;) You know I couldn't let that one pass uncommented. :lmao:

That is totally sweet of you and I honestly woudln't mind, but I do think you are right, since Disney is our "thing" I think that would be the coolest option!

Seriously, what about September? Should we go 2009 or 2010???

I'm game for either.

Oh good lord - and you know I'm just kidding about that, right?:rotfl:

I'm just putting the offer to stay with me out there. But, seriously, I think September would be best; I just think it's going to be impossible to get everyone to agree and be able to come. I don't think we're going to find one time that will accommodate everyone. I swear, I run into this same problem with my college friends and we NEVER wind up seeing each other because we can never agree.

Alright gals, we might have to change the name of the thread to the Control Freak, Wrorry Wart and Unable to Commit thread. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm honestly thinking about nixing this dining plan. It seems a little much for "potential" 30% savings. I mean, if we don't really do fine dining, I'm not so certain we will come out that ahead. Only thing would be we could do the 0% deal on the Disney Visa...

Honestly? I don't think we'd do the dining plan again if we had to pay for it. It takes too much time out of the day for sit down meals (IMHO) - we usually do 2 nice dinners for a one week stay, and the rest is just quick service. If you're only doing 4 or 5 nights, I don't think I'd do it. Just book a couple of character meals OR leave it up to Carlos! He might really like some of the dining options offered in Disney. We do like that about the dining plan...

So Lauren's friend just came over to play. She lives kind-of around the block, but it's a l-o-o-o-ng block; about a 10 minute walk door to door, or 5 minute bike ride. She shows up on her bike - NO HELMET!!!!:scared1: She biked over yesterday to drop something off and no helmet then either. The first thing I aske her is "Where is your helmet?" She tells me she can't find it - their garage is really a mess right now; her mother told her it was ok to just go. Now I'm really good friends with the mom and I just can't stand that she does this! Especially since one of the roads you have to bike on is a pretty busy cut-through street. Just poor, poor judgement, IMO. God, all it takes is one lousy bump; or one swerve. I just don't understand what she's thinking to let her go out TWICE now w/out a helmet!:sad2:

I totally agree with what you're saying, but when we were kids??? No helmet, no car seats, etc. And we're still here!

I'd have ... a well-stocked liquor cabinet!

I'M IN!!!! :rotfl2:

Well, Ally is leaving now with Jeff's parents. I'm gonna miss my little knucklehead!!! She's a little hesitant right now - she says she's worried about me. :cloud9: My sweet baby!

Jeff's dad is still hobbling around. They were at the urgent care for 6 hours on Saturday! The dr there sent them for an ultrasound to make sure he didn't have a blood clot in his leg. All was well with that so she took him off his Darvoset (that he's been on since his accident) and gave him something stronger, plus a muscle relaxant. He's still in some pain but it's a little duller.

We took him to the pool yesterday and that seemed to help him out some. But he's calling his dr on the way home today to get in to see him. Sciatica can be caused by a herniated disc, but I told him that according to what I read, it's also more common in older adults with a sedentary lifestyle. So he needs to start moving around more. All he does is sit on the couch all day long, except for once or twice a week golfing.

Oh, and the reason he was cleaning out the garbage can, is because they leave it outside all the time, and with the remnants and storms coming from the hurricane (which we never even got a single drop of rain, let alone a storm!!!) they were going to move the can into the garage so it wouldn't blow away. And like most garbage cans, it was yucky. We all still tease him about it. But he still has nerve pain from that and he always will.

I have so much I want to get done this week, but in all reality I probably won't get a single thing accomplished!!!

Oh, and believe it or not they didn't push the issue of going to SIL's at all. It came up once and MIL just said it's too bad Ally starts school the next day. So apparently she agrees with me for not wanting to take Ally that weekend. I couldn't believe it. I told her that I had found a flight for Jeff to fly up there. But I guess he doesn't want to go that bad.

Well, I've been trying to post this now for 30 minutes.... My baby just left! And I just realized I forgot to put all her contact and health info on her car seat. I need to call them and make sure they transfer the info that's on the car seat they have at their house, to the car seat that they have with them now. I hate that!!!!!

Kara-I've seen your post, but I will catch up in a bit on that when I have a few more minutes.

I really need the CFWW help! :)

My SIL's water broke last night  SO probably the baby will be here today from just talking to her. We joked it happened since I bought my plane ticket night before last!

So here is the help part. This is her first baby. I'm going up Friday and coming back Sunday solo. The original due date was August 24, so we picked Sept 26-28. She has her mom staying for two weeks after the baby is born (we THINK).

Would you leave the ticket alone, meaning the baby would be almost 8 weeks old when I go there, or would you try to move the ticket up to August 22; which the baby would be almost 3 weeks old???? I'm just wondering if they wouldn't be ready for some alone time if her mom comes for 2 weeks, but then again, if she doesn't and I'm really going there to help, is 8 weeks old kinda not much help at all????

What do you think? Even if we are at 8 weeks, I'm sure she would enjoy getting out and doing things - it would just be a different trip I guess, because by then she should have things down.

Renee- At 8 Weeks everyone had left me meaning everyone was back at work. I would say between 6 and 8 weeks is when I was so tired I couldn't see straight and when the PPD kicked in. I say wait, but that is just me. I think at that point is when she is going to need some well needed sleep.

Kara- You and Ally are so close. :cutie: I keep contact and emergency info along with copies of Insurance cards in the glove box of each car, diaper bag, also anyone who takes badookie has an updated emergency list handed to them along with a letter of consent if god forbid they need to go to the dr. or hospital. I never thought about the car seat. Hmmm.... I will have to think about it.

Renee, when Ally was born, my Mom waited until she was about 2 weeks old, and she and my dad drove down for a few days. My dad went home and my mom stayed for 2 weeks to help me out. Then my sis came with her family (by now Ally is about 4 or 5 weeks old), stayed for 3 days then took my mom home with her. I loved having the first 2 weeks to ourselves, and THEN my mom came. It gave me time to "learn" how to be a mom, but by the time my mom got here I was thrilled to have her help. But what she did that was so great was that she cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. She cleaned house. She gave me time with Ally without worrying about anything else. She also let me nap a few times and she would watch Ally. It was such a blessing! So in my opionion, if her mom is going to be with her, I would wait and give her some time alone with the baby, and then keep your tickets. If her mom is not coming, maybe up your ticket to later this month?

Holy crap!!! You just reminded me that I didn't give them the medical consent forms either!!! How stupid am I??? I usually leave Ally's insurance card for them plus our signed release. And I put all her info on a card, in a ziploc, taped to the side of her car seat, very visible in case of an accident. It's got all parents info on there, plus grandparents info, and my sister's info, in case something would happen to Jeff and I and medical personnel would need to reach someone. How could I have forgotten all this stuff??

Well, they should be into GA by now....

Thanks guys! You are right - I will just leave it alone.

My mom took off two weeks with both my kids to help out. FUNNY THING? We saw her (we actually counted) 2 hours with the first and she came to the hospital once with Nicolas. The rest was vacation time for her. :rotfl: She did watch Nicolas for 4 days with Mia while we were in the Hosp. so that was very nice.

My SIL came at 6 weeks for 4 days with Mia. She was great company for me and helped with the household stuff. My plan was to go and scrub her house, cook, etc to just let her enjoy the baby. Plus give them a night out to go on a date. She will go back to work I think at the 10 week mark since she took off last week.

Kara - you are one smart cookie taping it to the car seat! Wow!!1 I have a visable mesh pocket on my Britax - never once did I think about using it for that! I just thought it was for the instruction book! I think I will definately do that today!

As for Ally, listen - chances are very good Ally will be fine. I was going to mention to you if she had a cell phone earlier to make sure you were listed under ICE (in case of ememergency) but Jillian - correct me if I'm wrong here, but in the case of a trauma, won't they treat w/o consent to stabalize and then try to get in touch with the parents? So EVEN if worst case, it will be okay. IT WILL BE OKAY! :)

I need to catch up reading how your weekend went later. Off to take Nicolas to his class.

Jeff just called me to ask "how ya doing?" He thinks I'm freaking out without Ally here. I do miss her already, just knowing she won't be here tonight. But I know she'll have fun. And it will be good for Jeff and I, too. ;)

I'm going to scan her insurance card and email it to his parents. And also a medical consent form as well. Then I'll also email all the info for the car seat and they can put it on there.

Now I'm just waiting for the call from them that tells me they're home safe.

That is sweet that he is checking with you. We took Nicolas to camp and Mia was freaking out in the back seat because we left there without him! :rotfl2: She kept saying, Brother Uh-oh, Brother uh-oh! :rotfl2:

I steamed my carpet in the living room last night. Looks 90% better. Now I get to clean the upstairs I guess while she is sleeping. Guess who supervised last night. Carlos. Guess who thought feeding a baby (putting it on a table) a cereal bar was a good idea? Carlos. Guess who is about to clean said cereal bar out of the carpet? NOT CARLOS! :sad2:

I think I am going to do the pampered chef party. If anyone is in need of anything, let me know!

OK OK Can you guys please not talk about such important things such as Dis meets while I am away!!!!!! Seriously! I WOULD love to have a Dis meet in WDW with you guys but I can't see going there without my kiddos quite yet. I know...I am a dork. I still wouldn't mind you guys all coming to Chicago either. I just agree with Cammie that we are going to have such a hard time planning it! We always take our family WDW trip in the Fall so I don't see how I could do two Fall trips even though it would probably be heavenly! Let's just keep the conversation going and maybe something will pan out. I will look into Chicago hotels as well where we could all stay in one place and do the city!
I was talking to Renee about this the other day. We really, really, really think we should all do a long weekend at Disney together. After all, it's the place that brought us all together!
Exactly!!

I know, I just didn't want you to think you were the only one who loves the Values!!! We do too! As long as I'm on Disney property, I'm all set! :cloud9:
ITA!!!!!!!! Any WDW will do!
BTW I just paid for my trip before I left!:scared1: It hurts but with the Disney Via at least I can divide the cost by 6 months (interest free).

Oh Kara - DO TELL the garbage can story!

As for a get together, I'm voting for Sept. - it's off season, so rooms and flights could be cheap; and it's also F&W. I know Jan. would be off season also; but then winter weather could wreak havoc with traveling. And, I find that in Jan., many of us are recovering from the spending during the holidays.
I think September might be our best no matter where we meet.

SO... is it better to go like Sunday - Friday, or what? I remember, wasn't Sat the most crowded day?
And now they have that crazy pricing where certain nights and holidays are more like Saturday nights.

I'm honestly thinking about nixing this dining plan. It seems a little much for "potential" 30% savings. I mean, if we don't really do fine dining, I'm not so certain we will come out that ahead. Only thing would be we could do the 0% deal on the Disney Visa...
It's not easy but you have to kind of do the math. The dining plan REALLY is worth it if you have a billion ADRs. Like we have a different ADR every day when we travel there so it's like we get the lunches and snacks for free because our ADRs would cost us a fortune. Does that make sens? Am I addressing what you guys were actually talking about?:confused3

So Lauren's friend just came over to play. She lives kind-of around the block, but it's a l-o-o-o-ng block; about a 10 minute walk door to door, or 5 minute bike ride. ITA with you because, well, I am a worry wart but I do know there are a lot of people who think like Kara said. They feel like we were fine...blah blah blah...and I actually agree with that statement but then in the back of mind my crazy side is always screaming"I don't want the freak accident happening to one of my kids" and that usually wins!

Alright gals, we might have to change the name of the thread to the Control Freak, Worry Wart and Unable to Commit thread. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Again ITA!

Hey..what the big idea anyway..No one sends me a text while I am gone when I practically begged for one!

OK Here I go...hopefully I am on the same page as all of you with catching up. PLEASE feel free to shoot me any info I missed. I love you guys and want to stay current!
Magicfor2 (Tammie)You are super busy but doing fine...baby sitting and getting kids ready to go back to school. I hope everything is good and everyone is healthy again.
DizzyErin(Erin) We have lost her for a bit to the craziness of summer.
Ahibird (keahi) All is well but she is MIA for now.
tttessa (tessa)Doing good. Same old stuff as the rest of us, right?
Lovin Life ( Pam2)Thanks for taking care of the email/info list. I really appreciate it. That is exactly what I wanted but am not so savvy with the computer and absolutely CAN NOT type. Thanks again and I will forward you what I have.
Camster0307(Cammie) Amanda is doing better thank goodness! Your EX is still a dope. Men! I am not surprised since your Ex reminds me of a spoiled brat!
Sewer Where are you girl!!!!!!!!!!
soontobewed07 (Jillian) Hi Jillian! How's our Badookie!
karajebo0 (Kara)The story about your FIL is actually sad. They are a bit coo coo though so it's not surprising this stuff happens to them!
UsNew2Disney2008(Renee) You are the busiest of them all planning away, doing all your research and such! It will be monumental when this trip is official. I can't wait to see what you decide.
You know, I asked this before and no one ever answered. We have no problem staying at two places to either try something new or cut the cost a bit. Are you guys all just opposed to this? It is A TON easier then you would think since WDW is in charge. That's how I can justify this upcoming trip because we are doing 3 nights ASM so I can do the rest at GF.
CrdisMom(Laura) Hi Laura! Cute pix. I see we are living in a parallel universe!
Pbharris (Pam )Come back! You don't HAVE to keep up..just hop in! I tell that to Pam2 all the time!
Becky2005 Where are you off to? Back to that Chicago thread! Tell everyone over there I said "HI"
TinaLaLa(Tina) Hope all is well on your end with all your summer running around.

Also...I always wanted a home that I wouldn't be embarassed of if someone stopped by. There hasn't been a day like that since the house was "perfect" for when Elizabeth was born and everything was just refinished and we knew people were going to stop over to see her!

I'll be back. It's rainy here and I am in town until Wednesday morning.
