looking at planning HHR for sometime in spring or summer of 2008 - questions...

We're looking at a possible week at HHR in 2008 (our home resort is BCV) either Memorial Day (week), or a week in the summer when the kids are out of school.

Wondered if there's a better time than another betw. May and August to go to HH. I know it'll be less points in May than in the summer but when is the weather best during those months (less rain, good crabbing weather, etc.) Also is it easy to get it at the 7 month window during those times?

It would be our first trip to HH so I'm not well-versed on it yet. Thanks for any tips you can give me.

I believe getting in at the time you're requesting at the seven month window will be very difficult.

So far we've visited HH 3 times and had no problem booking a 2BR Villa at the 7 month window. (July 4th week and Easter week, both the highest demand) That being said, you must call day by day to book your villas and you have a much better shot at getting a 2BR than a 1BR or studio, since there are a lot more 2BR's in the resort. We also book the weekend nights at cash nights and have always gotten the member discount, points for Friday and Saturday nights are much higher. I booked our upcoming Easter week trip at the 7 month window day by day and no problem. Go for it- HH is absolutely a gem.

I'd guess May weather is a little more pleasant than August. We were there for a week in June 2004 (2br at 7 month window) and found the heat to be oppressive. That really surprised us...especially since heat usually doesn't get to us.

In August I'd say there's a greater threat of hurricanes.

Out of curiousity, how many of the 124 units are one bedroom units? We're leaning toward going the week in May which includes Memorial Day but I hate to have to use extra points on a 2-br unit when a 1-br is plenty of room for us.

The question about 1 BRs is the only one I can answer. There are a total of 21 1 BRs, and also 21 studios. Sixteen are located in the Main Lodge, and the other 5 are located on the first floor of 5 buildings. Although I'm not sure which 5, I think they're 16, 18, 19, 28, and 30. From what I've seen of the resort, the view from building 30 is probably great, but we've always requested the main lodge rather than being on the first floor (with a GV above).
