He's currently at WDW and he's looking at buying into DVC. He's called 3 times now with different questions. I really should just tell him to come on home and read through the Dis Boards before purchasing.

They are offering him $16 off per point at Bay Lake. He's also asking me about resales. This ought to be good as he can be an impulse buyer. He'll probably come home with 1500 points. LOL

Has he done the tour yet? Does he have a computer with him? I agree he really should check out the boards before he decides:thumbsup2

If he's like that he's REALLY in trouble. Being down there will do it to anybody. I know. It's cost me over 35 grand and that's not counting anything I spent on the vacation!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Help him out...he may may have a few points to share with a "bud" some time;)

If he is there and calling you with questions he is already sold !!! The question now becomes, how many points is he going to buy?

They wound up buying 300 points at BLT with a Feb. use year.

Couple interesting things. He says he paid $96 per point. With the Feb. use year he got 300 points for 09, and then in 2010 he gots 300 more. Is that correct? It's almost like getting 300 developer points to use at BLT if that is the case. The DVC guide explained the points chart correctly in that the total points stay the same but can be readjusted within the chart.

300's a good round number

The '09/'10 points are correct - and he shouldn't have to pay dues until the building is actually opened, pro-rated by the amt of time left in the year. It sounds as though he did not receive developer points as they would have been in addition to the '09 points - another set of 300 - instead he got a discount & if he used the Disney Visa for down payment, perhaps the 2 free APs?

ETA: He won't be allowed to use his BLT points anywhere until the new building is actually opened. Developer points were Disney's way of saying "Thanks for buying in early, take and use these (at SSR or the Disney collection) for now." That's what they did for us last year when we bought into AKV since it wasn't to be opened until May of this year. I'm not up on what's currently offered.

May want to at least tell him to split the 300 points up into multiple contracts so that he could sell say 50/100 points down the road if he needed to instead of selling all 300 and starting over at square one.

Chris

Excellent advice Chris and I would recommend the same.

He did. You have to purchase 160 points minimum. So he got 160 points and a 140 point contract.
