At checkin I requested an upgrade, none available - not a big deal to me. The clerk asked me what loews first welcome amenity I wanted. I said white wine. She asked when I wanted it delivered, I replied the next night at 6pm. It never arrived. I called at 7:30pm and they said they would take care of it. I guess they drank it themselves cause it never arrived. And what's with the morning newspaper? When you give your information to loews first they ask you what newspaper you want to receive. I always put the local paper. This time I got the New York Times which is of no interest to me whatsoever. So the card was pretty useless this trip. By the way, I was staying at the Royal Pacific for 2 nights, a saturday and sunday. Front of the line was great though.

For our 2 weeks everyday it was the NY times maybe due to so many business people staying at hotel pity about your gift I always ask at check in and it never arrives then the next day I ask for the supervisor ask if they have my request he checks says yes and lo and behold its there when we return from the parks so we have been kinda lucky our past two stays as we always get the gift

I would ask for the gift at checkin to make sure you get it.

I could care less about a news paper. I'd rather have them save the money and put the internet in every room thru the TV.

We did not get the gift, but I didn't mind since we paid rock bottom prices for the room. We brought three bottles of wine with us, anyway, and didn't need another. Our paper was NYTimes, which is the one I requested (it's a very good paper and covers national/international news a lot better than almost any local paper.) That said, I never read the thing because we were busy doing FUN stuff! :)

P.S. They also forgot to charge us parking! That was a $35 savings!

Just got back and got both the upgrade and the free gift. You just never can tell.

:flower: Tell me about this upgrade. I called and got a Loew's card #. This will be our first experience with it. It will take weeks to get the actuall card, but we got the #. Should we be persistant on asking for the free welcome amenties? We'd appreciate any feedback as we are going to be staying at the PBH for 3 days - arriving Feb. 22.

It all depends...if you are paying a qualifying rate, and want your welcome gift, then sure...be persistant! If you have a discount rate like something from hotelkingdom, they don't have to give you the welcome gift. You could still play "dumb," be extra nice, and ask anyway!

:flower: Okay, thanks d4est! It can't hurt to try. I called the resort again, to inquire about our reservation and they told us our room won't be assigned until closer to the date. Our reservation is for a Double room - Portofino Club Level. That's exactly what the paper work says. They told me they never heard of such a thing.(double room) Can you believe that?! The reservations are thru U-Parks and Resorts. The lady on the phone said she'd have to speak with her boss to find out. She told me that it is a deluxe room in the villa wing. We are just hoping that we don't get stuck with a standard room or have to spoil our vacation trying to get this straightened out when we arrive.
Can you tell me anything about the Club Level breakfast? We have a 10 year old. He usually prefers cold cereal in the mornings. Do they have that?

Do you mean that you made your reservations online? I've never heard the rooms referred to as double either and not sure what you mean by U-Parks and Resorts. What was the phone number that you used, if you didn't reserve online but phoned instead?

Usually the rooms are referred to as Club Room 2 Queen , or deluxe room 2 Queen, or Bay view room 2 queen, etc.

:flower: Thanks for the reply damo. We had a travel agent make the reservation, But it is thru Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations. That's how the travel documents came. It was listed like that on the reservations at the PBH. Go figure! We are just hoping that we got this clarified now. Do you have any experience with the Club Lounge breakfast meal? :wave2:

No, we've never stayed club at any of the resorts. Someday!!! You'll love the Portofino though.

I just got back from the HRH club level and for the morning they had Apple Jacks, Raisan Bran, Frosted Flakes, Cherrios, and Special K. They also had fruit, doughnuts, and mini muffins.
