I have always read they are quite a hike from the main building, pool, and food. But I have a friend who just got back and texted me and said: "Instead of going through the lobby, you come out the front and go to the side and cross the first bridge & you're there. it's the closest rooms I think. They are right next to a quiet pool, but a little ways away from the main pool. It's not a far walk to the food or buses either

If you look at a map of POR they are directly to the right of the lobby. They're in the bottom two buildings. I'd say they're nearly as close to the lobby as the preferred rooms.

Nope, the Royal rooms are in a great location close to the main building. Like your friend said, you just cross the bridge and you're there. We just stayed in a Royal room in April and LOVED it. I also like the fact that you're just minutes away from POFQ as well and its such a nice walk along the river.

What I have learned from reading a lot of DIS posts when it comes to walking, is that "quite a hike" for a lot of folks is anything over 50 yards:rotfl2: I always love the ones that say they jog daily and complain about a 10 minute walk. I'm no spring chicken and will not be confused with someone that jogs regularly and have no issues with a 5-10 minute walk. Our family enjoys walking through the resorts, Disney does such a great job with the themes.
We have stayed twice in the Oaks Manor RR and love the location. It is maybe 5 minutes from the food court and main bldg. by going stright over the bridge, and to go to the main pool it is about 5 minutes by turning right on the path in front of the mansions and walking over the bridge that connects right to Old man island, where the main pool is. We usually put in a request for a room close to the bridge and have gotten one both times.

We stayed in a royal room last year and it wasn't too far a walk from the lobby, food court, etc. Our room was in the Oak Manor building (I think #90 on the map). It was a short walk over a bridge and we were in the main areas- I'm not sure where else royal rooms are located but ours wasn't far.

They are in Oak Manor and Parterre.

The big thing to know is that the lobby/Boatright's/Mill is all one big building. Go in any door and you'll get where you need to go; same with going back out.

They are very close and convenient. We loved the location and will do them again on our next POR stay.

The Royal Rooms are not far at all. We stayed in the center of Parterre Place last summer and it was the perfect location. Very convenient to self parking, main building, south depot, pool, and food court. Everyone who complains about how large POR is and how far rooms are from the food court, pool, etc... Is just a whiner.

We are staying in a garden view Royal Room on our next trip. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for room requests for the two mansions that house the Royal Rooms? It will be our first stay at POR so I'm not really sure what to expect or request. Thanks for any suggestions!

There are some rooms in the back of Parterre Place that I would consider remote, but other than that not a far walk to the main building or a bus stop. The main pool is a further walk, however.

I'm partial to Parterre because I love the look of that courtyard garden and fountain. My avatar is a pic of my DD overlooking the courtyard with a view of the river. I would suggest requesting courtyard or fountain view as that is included in the garden room description.

We loved our room, just a few minutes to main hub - we even caught the bus at the main stop. :thumbsup2

Here is a map. The RR are in the red buildings quiet close to the main building.
