Livin on a Fantasy!! September 29, 2012 Disney Fantasy

Well, I found my way back to this place. I started reading some of the posts. I'm getting too excited reading about everyone else's anticipation of this upcoming cruise.
I have a question...Under my screen name, there is the title "Momma Mouse"...how?...who decides the nicknames?... I LIKE it!

Glad you found your way back. I tried to post this a few minutes ago but got kicked off the site instead.

You should get an email whenever someone posts on here. Not sure if you had to mark that you wanted to subscribe to threads you post on. Maybe someone else here can elaborate.

Gometros is putting together a list of people who are interested in the FE. There is a link to a form to fill out in post 341 on page 23.

This will be our first Disney cruise. We have cruised on Princess 4 times. (Alaska twice, Mexican Riveria, and Panama Canal) We're cruising with my daughter, TrojanJulez, her hubby Sean, their son Rylan (almost 3 at time of cruise), and Sean's sister (16) Rachel. This will be our grandson's first cruise. (I think it's his parents 3rd Disney cruise. They have also cruised on Princess)

Good Morning Starshine. Thank you for the heads up on post 341. I think I signed up for the FE exchange...twice. Once as The Kuehn Family, then again as Nonniepaddie.
Before 2007, I wouldn't even THINK about going on a cruise. I've seen the movies Titanic and Poseidon Adventure...Then one day I had two thoughts at the same time...Cruise & Disney...I thought some more and it was like someone flipped a switch in my brain...Disney Cruise! I trust ANYTHING Disney, so my daughter and I booked a cruise to go along with a trip to WDW. Best. Vacation. Ever. We decided to do it again in 2009 and take Poppa with us. He loved it. While on the last cruise, we noticed fish extenders and wondered what they were for. Now that we know, we want in on that fun stuff! I can hardly wait! 159 more days...

Gometros, Is the spreadsheet from post 1 still up to date? Is there a new link?

Michelle had set up a web page which displayed the old information. I have to set up a new web page. So right now that info is out of date.

Karen - we will definitely need to talk to you. We just booked the Sapphire princess for June 2013 to Alaska. When did you last cruise Alaska?

Nonniepaddie - welcome aboard and welcome to the DIS. Once you post to a forum, all you need to do is click on the User CP link at the top right of the page and it will show you all the threads that you are following if they have changed since the last time you read them. I forget if the default to subscribe to a thread is to send you the emails. I know I make sure I don't get them, since I follow way too many threads.

Our first cruise was in June, 2007, 10 days, roundtrip to Alaska leaving from San Francisco, on Dawn Princess. Our daughter had honeymooned to the Carribbean on Disney and wanted us and her in-laws to try cruising. All of us loved it!! Wish I had started cruising earlier. Our 2nd family cruise was to the Mexican Riviera on the Sapphire Princess in June of 2009, leaving from Los Angeles (San Pedro). My hubby and I took a Panama Canal cruise (by ourselves) in October of 2010, on the Island Princess, San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale. Hubby and I took another cruise 10 day cruise to Alaska in September of 2011 on the Sea Princess, once again leaving from San Francisco. (We're less than hour from SF) We loved all of our cruises and all of the ships. Alaska is beautiful and I would cruise there again in a minute!

We visited the same ports on both Alaskan cruises, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway. The scenic cruising on the first cruise was to Tracy Arms, the second was to Glacier Bay. Both are beautiful but Glacier Bay was more scenic and we got close to the glaciers. There was too much ice in the water in Tracy Arms so we only got to see the glacier from a distance.

I'll have to look up what excursions we took. We did most of them on our own, not through the ship. Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm sure you will love Alaska.

Our 3rd Disney Cruise is 160 days from now. I was looking for info about joining a Fish Extender gift exchange. I hope this is the right place. I hope I can find THIS place again, after I log out. I'm not so good at navigating the internet :(

Are you familiar with how to bookmark? I have internet explorer 9 and there is a star on the right hand side on the bar at the top. You can click on that and add this page as a favorite. Then just click the star to find the favorites you have bookmarked. Hope this helps if you have the same type browser.

Thanks for the info, bugsgrandma:) I'm learning something new every day :teacher:

Thanks. Our cruise is the southbound from Anchorage (Whittier) to Vancouver, so we get to see Glacier Bay and the Hubbard Glacier. How did you like the Sapphire Princess?

I'd love to do that itinerary too. I liked the Sapphire very much, but then I've liked all of the ships so far. I think the only thing I didn't like was the fact that you have to go up and down some stairs in the front of the ship when walking around the Promenade deck. At least I think it was the Sapphire lol, I'll have to check. Really no big deal, and probably burned more calories on my walk. :rotfl: I would walk at least a mile early in the morning, (6am), have a bagel and tea in the buffet and watch the scenery, then head back to my cabin to shower. By then everyone else was stirring and we could go to breakfast.:rotfl2:

I've been shopping for airfare for a few months now. It's unreal how much the price jumps around from week to week. The price went up about 30% since last Tuesday. I calculated that if I left now, and walked 12 miles a day, I could make it to Port Canaveral in time for this cruise :(

:rotfl2: I purchased airfare when I found a price I liked. But I still keep watching to see if the price goes down. Southwest will credit your account for the difference, but you need to use it within a year. I still need to make reservations at the Hyatt in the airport.

Airfare to MCO was really high, I found this year, even looking at 12 months out it was expensive.

We booked airfare as soon as I saw a price that we felt was reasonable. Paid $231 roundtrip from New York on JetBlue. I felt that was the best we were going to see.

Hey everyone it's been a while since I have posted. Things have taken a horrible turn in our house yesterday, my dh lost his job after many years. My current job does not even come close to paying our monthly expenses.i am afraid that if my dh does not find something within the next 2 months or so that we may need to cancel our cruise and even sell our beloved DVC. I am crushed and beyond devastated right now. I can only pray that he finds something in this tiny area we live in. :sad1:

I am so sorry to hear that. I've been there, so I know what you mean. Here's hoping that your DH finds something soon. We'd hate to lose you.

I hope everything works out for you Tinkerbell.

Tinkerbell0614, so sorry to hear that. Sending lots of good thoughts and pixie dust your way. I hope he finds something soon.

@Tinkerbella0614
My heartfelt sympathies for you and your husband. My husband and I BOTH lost our jobs at the same time 16 months ago. We originally scheduled a cruise for Sept. 2011 but we postponed it a year because of the financial situation. Even though I was working at two different jobs, I still have ONE. We are still struggling, so I know what you are facing. I decided that we will not postpone again because we aren't getting any younger. Waiting another year is something I do NOT want to do. We will probably not be able to go on any excursions this time around. The cruise itself has been paid for but getting to Port Canaveral will be another challenge. Even driving to FL is costly.
I hope that your dh will be able to find employment and soon. Good Luck to both of you.
Sincerely,
Paddie

i have some updated room info i need to update for the fe. should i just refill out the doc.?
