There are any number of threads on here about Disney resort parking. Some seem to be the result of what one person happened to experience and then assumes it works that way everywhere else. Disney doesn't want people not staying at a resort (or without an ADR) to park there for free and fill up the lot such that hotel guests have nowhere to park. Particularly for resorts near one of the parks, this has always been an issue. People try to game the system by parking for free at a resort and walking to the park.
Time of day or time of year matters as clearly resorts are busier at some times vs others. If you don't have an ADR or aren't staying there, it is generally good to plan to park elsewhere and not be disappointed. ADR lets you park there for a certain amount of time. Unless the official Disney website indicates a change in how parking is handled, I doubt the guard will care about what you saw on social media that says something different.
