I just got an in game message from DaraAllen / CL_DaraSue from VMK Central in WDW. She says she is looking forward to meeting with fellow DISers, and asked me to pass it along. Have a great time all of you (:

Well Sure I hope you are having a great time even though I did not get a PM from WDW!

Bump to the top so those she is planning to meet may see it.

Yup, we are here, safe and sound. Had a great time at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas this evening. Never seen snow on Main Street before. I actually had to put on a jacket!

Sorry I couldn't PM everyone, but good grief are those VMK Central machines some dogs. It took me over 10 minutes to log in! I didn't have the patience to go through my list.

Sorry, Mal, but Avastmaygirl is higher on my alphabetical list than CL_Maltoo!

Heard from ElectricLime that he's bringing completed quest papers to the meet on Sunday so we can get everything, including Holiday Quest!

Yeah, Yavn! Released the quest just for me!

(of course, I know that's not the case, but hey, a girl can dream, can't she?)

I just realized that my laptop does not have the card reader for my camera, so I can't post pics until I get home. We did do Photopass, and I'll try to put that link up. Me in my Minnie Christmas ears, and DH in his Pluto reindeer ear are just too cute for words!

Glad to hear you're having fun (: Live it up my friend!!! Can't wait to see pictures when you get back. See you soon.

Sparky, I think for Grumpy, Ursula is more appropriate!

JK Grumpy! We packed an empty duffel bag with us, so I'll pick a princess and put her in it. Shipping via MouseEx!

=============================

We started the day at the Living Seas with Nemo, which is a very nice, mellow ride. The clammobiles are adorable. Then we had lunch at Coral Reef! OMG is that place gorgeous.

Travel hint - When making a reservation here, request a table/booth closest to the window. When you sit at the back of the restaurant, you may as well be watching a movie

We met with BobRichmond after lunch, and went to Turtle Talk with Crush and wandered around the aquarium. Got to see the elusive manatees, which always seem to be somewhere else whenever I am there!

Off to travelling the 11 countries of Epcot. I can't remember what order we did what in, but basically, saw the Liberty Players doing Christmas Carols (wow!) and the Drum and Fife Corps; rode Maelstrom (ok ride); had a bratwurst; BobRichmond had some gingerbread (his favorite); got a limited release pin, signed by the author right there!; shopped; watched some of the international players; watched them put the barges into place for the Illuminations; and saw the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Then BobRichmond left! Mind you, at this point it is now 6:30 ish.

Side Note - It was so cold yesterday it was not to be believed. 50 degrees for the high, with significant winds. By the time the tree lighting was to take place, my DH was a husband-cicle. This is a man who is a walking polar bear, never gets cold. He had to buy a hoodie, for a whopping $42! It's pirates, so at least it's cool looking!

DH and I puttered around a little, freezing our bottoms off, then stood in line for the 8:15 Candlelight Processional. BobRichmond had recommended that we get there an hour ahead of time, and boy was his suggestion right on the money! The line of us were so cold! EVeryone was standing much closer together in line than is usual! The show was unbelievable, and the narrator was Brian Dennehy, who just wowed us!

After the show we got our coveted wristbands, and even though we were so cold, went back to Future World. Rode Test Track, puttered around, and by 11:00 we were so tired and cold and sore, we left. I've never not stayed for the full Extra Magic Hour time, but it was so cold!

We are meeting FilamentTheBright today at Animal Kingdom, and then Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue this evening. Depending how we feel, we may go to Downtown Disney to find an elusive pin our boy wants. Long day on tap for tomorrow (extra magic hours at MK).

Travel tip - I filled my media card up, and without a slot on my machine, I thought I would be without pics the rest of the trip. But, it turns out that any camera shop on property can take your media card and copy the files to a CD for you. There's a $13 charge, but that beats the $99 for a new card! Bottom line is that I now have access to the pics I took on Thursday and will post some this evening.

Woot i am getting an Ursula!! Think of all the hugs with all those tentacles!!! Thanks DaraSue

OMG ROFL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: This is one of the rare times I am actually LOL.

So Glad you are having a great time! Guess with that weather no Mocha Freezes for you. Can't wait to see the pictures.

I understand how cold it gets!!

We were at WDW right before Christmas 2004, and MVMCP and at the time Florida had record low temps.!! FREEZING!! ( It was the only time we got to ride Splash mountain three times without getting off the ride!!) No one else was crazy enough to ride it I guess.

Hope it warms up some for you :coffee:
have a great time. Can't wait to hear more about your trip! :goodvibes

So it go warmer today! Yeah! Not a record breaking warmer, but I didn't spend the day shivering!

Well, at least up to the point where we got soaked by Kali River Rapids, but I get ahead of myself.

Met with FilamentTheBright and two of his family members to "do" Animal Kingdom today, and we had a great time! Thank you so much for our wonderful pins! It was so sweet of you.

We went on the Safari, which was gorgeous. I think we saw all the animals, which is much different from when I went the firs year it opened! Rode the Kali River Rapids, on which we go drenched! I looked like I went whee in my pants!

Had Mickey ears, which I must say, my DH has been very good. These were his first ears on the trip, and he's blaming Filament's family for that! They went off to DinoLand and then Magic Kingdom, and DH and I were back at it.

DH and I went to Rafiki's Planet Watch, which was very informative. The kids will have a great time there next year!

And, of course, we pin shopped. Looking for an elusive Maleficent pin for our youngest boy. I got it for DH on our last trip here, and DS6 wants one. DH doesn't want to give his up (loves dragons) so we are looking for a replacement. Meanwhile, spending oodles of money on more pins because we can't find this one! But I digress, again!

We went to Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue for dinner and a show! It was a hoot. DH says his mom will like Aloha dance better, so that's where we will go next year when we take EVERYONE in the family (or at least it will feel that way compared to just the two of us this time!).

Tomorrow we hope to hit MK first thing, in hopes of getting something from the Dream Team. Yes, they are real, I've seen them wandering around. And, I've seen and spoken to recipients of many of their gifts. Notice that I'm not saying anything about having received anything and that would be because I have not.

Travel tip: It seems as though the Golden FastPass (which is actually blue, go figure) is most often handed out early in the day. Most of the people I spoke with received their gifts coming out of rides. So, ride the rides early in the day!
Meeting with DIS at 11:00. This should be interesting!

Oh, DaraSue I really enjoy reading your updates and I look forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!

It sounds as though every single day is packed with fun things to do and see! I am sitting here doing geometry (or rather, I'm posting with geometry in front of me, he he) , thinking about you and your DH and hoping you're having a lovely holiday!

Enjoy it DaraSue, I can't wait for your next update to hear about what your up to. I've never been to WDW so this is really exciting hearing what it's like :goodvibes

Ta-Ta for now, and can't wait to hear from you again! :)

Ok, first of all, I am back, safe and sound.

Sunday, 12/10, was a long day at Magic Kingdom. DH & I got to the park around 10:00 am and shopped a bit. Then we went to VMK Central, where we were supposed to meet with some other DISers. My PalMickey had died (stomach no longer worked), and they were tending to him. He needed replacing but since it was so old, it took a call to PalMickey Central to get approval to replace him. They did it, but told me that next time, I would need a receipt. (I didn't point out that if I didn't have the receipt to begin with, it would be difficult to have one at a future time)

I was helping someone with a VMK question, when I hear my name called out. A group of people were standing around, motioning me over. There was Disaeryn, FlyingPegasus, Melkiriob, and a few others. In wanders ElectricLime, with Holiday Quest forms in hand. I had already turned in my quests (boo hiss to Jacques at VMK Central for not letting me use my expired passes - he's such a bummer!) except for the Holiday one, so ElectricLime and I go outside to do that quest. Finished it up, then ran our answers by the group for verification. Got my measly two sets of cards and off we went.

I don't remember the exact order we did things in, but I know we had lunch first. Columbia somethingorother in Liberty Square. Recommended by the group as being a quick, easy place to grab a lunch. Well, not this day! Took bloody well forever to get through. Paying was easy, but getting our food is where the time went. Of course, "This never happens!" was uttered by all. Well, it sure does when Dara's around, now doesn't it!?!

We went to the Mansion, which had a little line, but we made it through, all three cars in a row. Disaeryn made sure to show me one hidden mickey, almost scaring the you-know-what out of me by touching my shoulder to get my attention! On our way out, where we intended to do Riverboat, we saw a Dreams cast member. So, on the excuse of trading pins, we started talking to him. His shtick was that you have to answer a Disney movie trivia question to trade with him. ElectricLime was wearing one the cast member liked, and so, Electric challenged him to a trivia question.

Which three animated movies did not have a single human in them? Guy gets a look like deer in the headlights! Had not a clue. DH pipes up kind of off hand to the guy, "Cars", at which time ElectricLime turns around and says, "Cars! I forgot about that one. So it's four." Still the guy didn't know, so Fly says, "Bambi". OK, he now has one, plus the new addition. Finally, the group gets him the other two, ElectricLime gets the trade complete.

At this point, we missed the Riverboat. DH & I decided to wait for it, while the rest of the gang "ran over" to Frontierland to the pin store. Needless to say, DH & I rode it by ourselves! After the ride, via cell phone, we found everyone else in Adventureland, learning how to be a pirate from Jack Sparrow.

We decided to get into line for POTC, whereupon we found Melkiriob, her DD11 and DH. They waited for us to catch up, and the whole group of eight (pieces of eight, get it?) rode together. Fly pointed out another hidden Mickey to me (the lock on the jail where the dog has the TWO keys on a ring in his mouth), and I realize that this hidden Mickey stuff is a whole other 'thing" I will wind up getting addicted to.

After POTC, we decide to go our separate ways. DH and I take the train back to Main Street and go back to Old Key West for a quick nap. Well, of course, the way our luck goes, the bus driver GOT LOST GETTING BACK TO OLD KEY WEST! It was so sad it was hilarious! How do you get lost as a bus driver?

But, our bus adventure isn't over yet. After my nap (DH doesn't do naps well, so he started the packing), we head back to MK. We got to the bus stop at 6:00, figuring that's plenty of time to get into the park for 6:40 reservations at the Plaza Restaurant. 50 mins later, a bus that comes every 20 minutes shows up! We don't get to MK until 7:30ish. Mind you, the park was closing at 8:00 that night, and we had missed our dinner reservations. I was not pleased.

I went to Town Hall, walked up to a poor unsuspecting CM and say, "I am a p o'd mamma!" Bottom line is Stephen, the CM, gets us into Liberty Square Tavern, and gives us four generic fast passes! Way to go Stephen!

Dining Tip: Liberty Square Tavern is a hidden gem, in my opinion. It is a character dining experience, but only uses one table service coupon on the dining plan! Food is served family style, with salad, roast beef, roast pork, roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (to die for), chicken gravy (also to die for), macaroni and cheese, and garlic green beans. Dessert was an apple cobbler a la mode. Yum!

We rode Space Mountain, and puttered around. Didn't need the fast passes that night bc of extra magic hours, so we figured we'd use them our last day, Monday. Left the park around 11:30 or so and got back no hassles!

Our last day was Monday. DH finished the packing while I pouted. I really hate leaving! We checked our bags with the front desk and headed back to MK hoping to turn in more quests, but, alas, Jacques was there again so we didn't bother. Had a last minute "request" from DD9 for Tink hat and gloves, which turned into a challenge. The rides were empty again so we didn't need our fast passes. Found some ppl to give them to who would be there all day as the lines grew. Rode Splash mountain. Found a young girl with the pirate quest in her hand and asked her about VMK. She had never even heard of it, so I loaded her up with all the completed quests that Jacques wouldn't let me turn in (take that, Jacques! raspberries to you!), and checked her pirate quest, which she had wrong. That stuff made us feel good, even though we had to leave.

Left the park around 1:00, got on Disney Magical Express around 1:50, to the airport and checked in by 3:00, on the plane by 4:30, back in Baltimore by 6:50 and home around 9:30. Got tackled by the kids, whose first words were, "What did you get me?" Of course, their second words were, "That's all? All I get is one thing?" Ungrateful little rats!

And now, the planning for next year's full hot order extravaganza begins, for me, DH, DS20, DS13, DD9, DS6, MIL68, SIL38, and Nephew14...

And just where are those pictures you promised us missy? Glad you had a great time, can't wait to hear more next time I see you.
