Live from VGC! Checked in to GCH yesterday!

Called the front desk and they said that the washer and dryer room was coin operated and that there is a machine that dispenses the coins in exchange for dollar bills. ill check down there later to see myself since it was closed opening day for some reason....

Thanks so much for checking... I was hoping it would be free like other DVC's, but I guess it just like the free Valet at WDW. Not free at GCV.:scared1: Member services told me it would be free but I guess they were wrong. Have fun... I'll be there in another week in a studio.:banana:

I'm wondering if when the OP asked front desk told him/her about the washer/dryer room that was aleady there for the hotel..(which was almost impossible to find..2 different hotel cast memebers gave us different and wrong directions..a housekepper we found told us how to get there..outside using the Napa Rose elevator. Then by exploring..alot..we found we could get there by going a different way from our original floor..also..the coin changing machine was not working, so more wandering around and finally ended up in the gift shop for change then all the way back to laundry room. Good thing there was free wine in the concierge lounge ;) . Lesson. bring change just in case.)

The location of the villas is the best among all dvc resorts hands down. Its a five minute walk to DCA and Downtown Disney and a ten minute walk to Disneyland.

ITA! Location, location, location. Nothing can beat being right next to the magic.

We have a view on the side of the villas facing Grizzly Peak and Tower of Terror which is astounding. Depending on how high your room floor is you look down directly into the Brother Bear Redwood Trail play area. You are practically in the park. The paradise pier views are the best however looking DIRECTLY out onto World of Color.

I won't know till I get there and experience it for myself, but I think I might end up preferring the ToT and Grizzly Peak view over the PP view. It looks pretty awesome to me and may be easier to book.

I do agree with Grumpygrandpa! The view we had facing grizzly and Tot was really nice. Especially since they keep the lights on the mountain and the tower on all night long. I took a pic of it that I need to post later on so you can see. The room is literally ten feet from the DCA park wall and depending on how high you are look down into the brother bear play area. It's a very calming view at night. If you listen carefully you can hear the running waters of grizzly too..... :)

Fireworks tonight at around 9:30. For those facing the pool or Grizzly area see if you can watch them tonight. We love photos as well. Remember to turn your TV's on, they might have the music. Tonight is a Halloween theme.

When I was there on Wednesday, there was a channel for the Halloween Fireworks. I seem to remember it was near the other Disneyland Channels.

Did you hear the owl hooting at night? I heard one when I stayed across the way in a 1 bedroom suite with a similar view -- it is very peaceful.

Isn't the general ambiance at the Grand amazing? We love staying there, can't wait for our stay in a studio in a few weeks, and a one bedroom in Nov.

Can you check and see if the landry room has free washers and dryers for DVC members? Thanks!

The laundry room for the villas is not quite finished (there were
no washers and dryers installed when I last checked). The villas
laundry room is just around the corner from the trash room on the
1st floor.

In the meantime, you can use the laundry onthe 2nd floor.
I was told the front desk has tokens for the coin operated
machines (so it is free for DVC members).

we rsvpd with the guide in the lobby. if you're at the resort i believe you can rsvp by dialing dvc2. or you can give your guide a call, i'm sure.

Do you know if the party is tonight? We are on our way driving and I called the hotel and no one seems to know anything!

Thank you so much for the report and pictures. This morning I called up and got a 2 bedroom villa for the end of April. The pictures are making me very excited about. Looking forward to more pictures.

Here are some images from our stay at VGC last Wednesday (9/24). FYI - We stayed in room 5504. It is to the right of the observation deck and down one level (almost in the middle-right of the picture) from the top level of the buliding. The room was nice and everyone working there was too! Only drag was that self-parking was full and we had to park in the structure at behind the Paradise Pier Hotel. Regardelss, we will be back in a month for Halloween!

The BBQ grills (yes, we used them...possibly FIRST?)

Hey Wide Eyed Wonder, by any chance are you in 4502? We stayed there Saturday and your view looks identical to the one we had, right down to the angle of the barbeque (we used it too). It was fun watching the park in action, a little noisy on the balcony though (Mulholland Madness screaming patrons). I spun the chair in front of the window around and watched while listening to the Ipod which was plugged into the TV. No doubt, these will be preemo rooms when WOC comes online. Sixth floor viewing platform was locked, so that was disappointing.

I think they are going to be very, very popular. I saw someone using them on 9/24. We used them on 9/26. I wonder if housekeeping cleans them up in between times because we couldn't tell which one had been used before when we made our steaks. :)

One floor up, and you are right, awesome view, premo for WoC show.

The BBQs are almost hidden (except when you look out of a PP view room), I'd venture to guess that not many DVC members are (currently) thinking about them.

I found them when I was looking for the laundry on the first floor (which was not finished when we visited) --you could see the BBQs out the hallway window. :) The BBQs are beautiful (and a dream to cook on. ) I have seen the BBQ units at other DVC facilities, thought it was nice they were provided but never wanted to bother with getting charcoal, etc. It was so easy to use these and there are plenty of grocery stores nearby (within a mile or two) to get something to grill!

One thing I did wish they had was a sink close by for hand washing (there is a set of restrooms on the breezeway between Pinocchio's Workshop and the lobby--but it is a bit of a hike from the BBQ units--maybe not enough time to wash hands before having to turn the meat). They didn't have a trash recepticle outside (or I didn't see one, anyway), but the trash room is pretty closeby.

Was anyone able to watch the DL resort fireworks this past weekend from their room facing the pool?
