Live from the Magic!

By the way, if anyone could find a YouTube video of the fireworks in Barcelona, could you post it either here or in a new thread? They were just great and I'm hoping someone recorded it and will post it on YouTube.

Thanks!

I searched YouTube and so far they only thing I could find were the 2007 fireworks. Glad to see all if you made it safely to the Med. Now only 4 more cruises before us folks going to the Baltic get our chance. Have a safe trip home. Sue

Hi Bev,

Will follow you along the way!!! Are you requesting Sammer as your server again? Is Dylan going? (Jenna still talks about Dylan her first crush)

Have a great time!!!

how are you doing the internet connection? did you bring a laptop? if so can you only use it in your room or can you be up on the pool deck online? and - do you type everything out first then connect and send or is the connection fast enough that you can do everything once online?

i had heard comments about it being very slow to get pages to load which would suck up time.

thanks. happy cruising.

did you have to use cash at all? could you have used credit cards and not worry about exchange rates, or having the right money to exchange?

most if not all small stores in NA now have those debit credit machines. I wonder if they do in Europe too

Can you please scan and post the navigators?

i love reading them but the ones on the board are very old

Wow, that's interesting since Global Wireless' coverage map indicates there is no service past the east coast of the U.S. or before the west coast of Europe.

GLOBAL usually means GLOBAL. I am not sure what coverage map you are referring to ... as the coverage area may differ from provider to provider (100% global versus 98.7% (etc)), depending on satellite use, etc. Were you looking at a carrier's coverage area under their regular service plan? I was in attendance while the posts where uploaded from a notebook with Global Wireless card. No issues.

Same as all other cruises when booked onboard

You can use credit cards in most places. And you can get local currency - sometimes at a better exchange rate with an ATM card. But the smaller merchants may not take CC or ATM cards so it's good to have some of the currency with you.

I plan on getting some before I leave.

Global means land, cellular at sea covers the oceans.

We are wondering because the 3/4 cruises get a lower OBC then the 7+ day cruises. So is the 2 day the same as the 3/4 or a lower OBC?

I am in a Malta internet cafe: Ziffa Internet Center. I've got 30 minutes for 2.40 euros (that would be $22.50 onboard at the per-minute rate - and you'd never get 30 minutes of fast internet). They even have Skype. It is on
Triq Id-Dejqa (Strait Street) just off South Street (it is on a little side street), not far from the Upper Barrakka gardens or the bus terminus.

There are McD's, Pizza Hut, etc (no photos can be taken in McD's!) and the whole thing seems very easy to navigate without a tour. We did the Valetta Historical Hunt; the DISboard team of Becx N Gav, Walter, intern Max and auntlynne won.

Barcelona is an architecturally fascinating city - we did the HOHO (red bus company - they took credit cards; the turquoise bus did not. 22 euros for a one-day pass on either bus company).

Free fast WIFI in the Malta terminal. Having a great time. Malta very neat. Weather perfect for touring. Tomorrow is Tunisia - can't wait.

No, global means global. Yes, I realize carrier's have various plans, but the word global is what it is. If a carrier uses the word global for a plan, but does not provide global coverage, it's not really global coverage.

My mistake ... I was thinking of the 10% discount. As for SBC, I was told it was $100. I also understood the cost for the 2-day was only $99 pp, if you were on the last Mexican Riviera cruise. If so, perhaps it is for a CAT 11, as I met others on the April EB T/A cruise who were quoted $400 pp (not sure what category).

For this 2 night cruise - Cat 11C Tier one Cruise ONLY was $80, Car 11B was $90. I paid $459.00 for 2 in a cat 11B. It has since gone up $40.00. And most, if not all Cat 11s are sold out. Getting a cabin on the 2 night is going to cost more now. I would love to reshop it for more OBC, but it's not worth losing my specific cabin. I don't understand the 99 per person?

Thank you for posting all the information on the TA cruise. We are on board the Magic on June 12 Baltic. Its been great to get advance reviews of the new shows and activities.

I am not sure ... it was something I heard from someone while on the April 2010 14 day EB T/A cruise. I may have misunderstood, or they may have mad a mistake in what they said (or thought). Are you on the last Mexican Riviera as well? Did you book both cruises at the same time?

There have been some bounce back offers on different sailings where 99 was the fare. But those were for the Caribbean and the fare applied to later fall dates, I believe. This 2 night cruise is immediately following the Panama Canal cruise, I saw it and called my TA to book on the second day. because it was hard to find on the DCL site, nothing unusual there! After the last spring MR cruise, the Wonder will be repositioned to Vancouver to sail to Alaska for the summer, then a 2 week dry dock, then she sails back to California and does the MR for the remainder of the year. I am not doing any MR cruise, doesn't appeal to me at all. However, the 2 days to nowhere and the Ca to Ca repo, I am on both, in the same cabin.

Thanks for the update! Did you tender at Valletta or actually dock?
