I thought I had every episode on VHS or DVD, but I'm thinking about an episode I don't have - and I'm wondering if I remember this correctly..

Wasn't there an episode - after Laura & Almanzo were married - that they had a baby, the baby later died, and Laura was very, very angry and held the Doc Baker responsible?

Or did I imagine that whole thing?

If so, anyone remember the name of the baby, what it died from, and perhaps the name of that episode? If it really was an episode, I'd like to see if I could get it on DVD to add to my collection..

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, that was an episode...but I can't remember the name.

Baby Wilder. They never got around to giving it a name before he died. I'm a LHOTP junkie. LOL

199 February 14, 1983 8466 A Child With No Name Laura's newborn son unexpectedly dies at night with no apparent reason. Laura blames Doc Baker for the baby's death and chalks it up to his incompetence. Doc Baker's reputation is badly damaged and he is almost forced to leave Walnut Grove. Later, Rose becomes sick with smallpox and, against Laura's wishes, Almanzo calls on Doc Baker. When the two are quarantined, Laura soon realizes what she always knew: that Doc Baker is a good doctor.

I saw that episode! The baby was a son, I think he died of SIDS which back them less than nothing would have been known about it. I don't remember why she blamed the doctor for the baby's death, though. Doc Baker later saved their other child's life and Laura realized he didn't cause her son's death. I do not remember the baby's name. Had they named him?

Wow! You're just full of all the answers I need tonight..:goodvibes

At least I know I wasn't imagining it.. LOL.. Maybe I can try to google it somehow to find the episode name.. Makes me wonder how many other episodes I'm missing.. That's not good - I want them all!! :rotfl:

A child with no name is the episode name. Season 9 Episode 18. In the show they always referred to him as baby Wilder.

Okay - I'm going to have to check out that whole Season 9 and see what else I don't have.. Maybe "Santa" will bring it to me for Christmas..;)

That's a great link to Wiki. I always went to IMDB and searched there.

Ok, I have a question for you experts. Did Albert die in one of the final movies of the Little House series? I remember seeing Charles forcing Laura to face the reality of Albert dying and making her say "my brother is going to die, my brother is going to die" while she sobbed. I never saw the end and I need to know! Did he die?

This is too funny as I have become reaquainted with the series I loved so much as a kid.

I don't know if you recall C. Ann, but my Mom is housebound, and I was so upset when they cancelled As the World Turns as it was the only show she would watch. It was the highlight of her day, and just about the only time she spent out of bed. Well, I rented "Brothers and Sisters" as a replacement, but low and behold she told me she would rather watch "Little House"!!! ;)

So now everyday after lunch instead of saying, "Let's see what's going on in Oakdale," I am now saying, "Time to see what's going on in Walnut Grove"! :rotfl:

Yes - he died of leukemia..:(

Yes, Albert did die. It was a 2 part episode during season 9 I think. He had a blood disorder and Charles brought him back to Walnut Grove to say goodbye to Laura.

Yes - I do remember.. That's great!! There's enough of those episodes for her to watch for a long, long time..:goodvibes Did she happen to like "The Waltons" too? That's another possibility.. Another show I enjoyed..

Hallmark channel runs 3 episodes a day, from 3-6. usually the run in season/episode order.

I remember this well because I had never seen many of these later episodes. I was a young teenager and we were on vaction with my family, WDW as a matter of fact I think, and they were running an evening marathon...these episodes with Albert's death were playing and since I'd never seen them but was a huge fan I had to stay up and see them...the family was trying to sleep and there I was, in a pitch black hotel room, sitting on a chair directly in front of the tv trying to block the light, crying my eyes out, with the volume down to level one. Good times.

Shortly after this my family discovered Embassy Suites-except for WDW we've never gone another way!

I only found this out about 4 or 5 years ago. I was watching an episode on TBS and in the episode Albert kept getting nosebleeds. I thought I had seen all the episodes but I guess I stopped watching them as much when it became LHOP the later years. So I'm sitting there watching thinking "boy, they are really making it out like he's gonna die, but I know he doesn't."
Well, he died and I was so caught off guard I cried like a baby. All these years and I didn't know he died!!

ETA: I just read Teacher Lisa's post and it sounds almost like mine! Sounds like I wasn't the only one traumatized by finding out he died!
