"Little House On The Prairie" fans.. Can you help?

Wow, this is really interesting. I was just reading the wiki article and Laura lived to 90, Almanzo 92, Ma 89. That's amazing for those days. Pa died at 66, Mary 63, Carrie 75, Grace 64. Almanzo was 10 years old than Laura.

This is all so interesting! Thank you all for sharing all of this information..:goodvibes

I'll have to show this thread to my adult DD because she's always been a big fan too..

And of course now I'm going to have to buy some books....:rolleyes1

To the poster about Matthew NOT being autistic....not trying to start and argument(my sister works specifically with children with autism)I thought this was a pretty interesting fact. My best guess, would be that he has Asperger's, but being diagnosed back in the 70's as a child, I don't think they had varying degrees of autism then.

No worries - and no need to guess. He's a friend of mine. :)

Another of the lessor known tidbits are that Rose had a son that died in infancy. None of the male descendants of Charlea Ingalls survived their infancy. Rose was the last direct descendant of Charles.
It would be interesting to do a genetic geneoloogy of the Ingalls family. It seems like there might have been an issue with a recessive gene or two on the X chromosome, which would not show up in the girls (having two X chromosomes) but could be fatal in the boys (having only one). There are a number of diseases that manifest only in boys, like hemophilia, for just that reason.

I agree.. Seems like it might have been more than just mere coincidence, doesn't it?
