This is going to be the longest day EVER! Our beach reservation is set to cancel today too, if they're going to. It could potentially be a pretty crappy day for us. #FirstWorldProblems I feel so selfish getting so upset about this stuff when there are clearly things happening in the world so much worse than this. But, I just can't help it. We love our vacations.
My fingers are crossed for you!!!

I just want to say no matter how it turns out today and tomorrow: Your hopes and dreams are as important as the next person's- no matter who they are. Some of us have so many emotions invested in our vacations that they are our hopes and dreams for the year or more- they're our financial goal, our celebratory goal, our happy place to day dream of when today sucks. As such losing a vacation like this can be straight up gut wrenching. I was in tears the day I lost my Mar trip a couple days out from leaving, it happens. We say it's dumb to feel like that because First World Problems- but your emotional reactions are what they are. You're not starving or in a war zone or whatever so those aren't problems that are realistic to you, this is. Don't apologize to anyone if you end up feeling like crap over this (many others feel the same).

I don’t think it is selfish. This was my daughter’s high school graduation trip. We spent a lot of time planning. It has been rough already with no graduation ceremony and I thought this trip would at least ease all that.

Excellent post!

The big question is logistics. What are they doing behind the scenes that no one is noticing and how long does it take to implement? Almost nothing leaked about Shanghai yet they managed to get masks stocked, distancing signs on the ground, etc. They allowed shipments back into DS 14 days before opening. If restocking takes that long for third party restaurants, that’s this Sunday for June 1. How about scheduling CM’s and training? What’s amazing is how quiet they seem to be on all these things without leaks. If they know they need signs for the ground for distancing like the entrance to Shanghai, are those ordered and delivered, waiting to be installed? Have they ordered masks for CM’s? Some of this seems to be a given regardless of when they open. So even if these things leaked it doesn’t say much. But some things will be hard to hide when they go to ramp up. DS had deliver signs and the parking garage open 6 days before they announced an opening date.
We did hear some news from Shanghai by the third week in April that they were testing procedures using CMs as pretend guests so I do expect we’ll start to hear some news out of WDW when they are close to reopening. This tweet was on 4/20 so about 21 days before the actual reopening.

Thank you so much for your kind words! The time spent with my husband and our kids is irreplaceable. But, I keep telling my kids that Disney WILL open eventually. And when it does, we will be there. No matter if it's July or January. There is a light at the end of this tunnel, no matter how far away it is.

I have had a June 7-11 trip booked since last year. I 95% gave up hope a few days ago & booked a backup trip for July 17-21. Now I’m thinking we’ll probably not end up going until January (due to school schedules). There is no cure-we’re all hopelessly addicted! 😂

I am about 85% hope on my June 19 - 26 trip, but like you, I am about to book a backup July 18-25 trip. I am waiting until the last possible minute to do so (for FP) in hopes that an announcement will come by then. I have 5 more days!

Will be feverishly stalking this board all day today and tomorrow to see if any June 1 cancellations come in.

It is not publicly posted anywhere, but yes, Disney has relaxed package paid in full dates to 7 days out vs the usual 30, although the auto e-mails about payments being due have still been going out on their normal schedule.

I had heard this, which is why I was suprised to get the e-mail this morning, but if they are just automated I surely understand....it goes against my grain NOT to pay, but it seems silly to pay out such a large sum not expecting it to ever be necessary and only have it returned a few weeks later. Seeing that others have allowed their date to pass without having Disney automatically cancel their reservation makes me feel a little less worried. I think I'll hold off.....and hold on to hope! I just worry about Mickey blackmarking my MDE account because I was late in paying!!!

Remember if the cancellations start today it will only be for a week or so. The call center can only handle so much volume. Please be super respectful and nice to cast members if you call this wasn't their decision to handle it this way.

Maybe disney is gonna wait to see how Disney springs goes before they setup signs, reorder supplies, schedule staff??

We will clearly have an idea the parks are gonna open soon when:
1.cast members are are called back
2.a massive wave of delivery trucks-they need to restock everything
3. All cast members are going to need to be scheduled for training for all these new procedures(that could be a lest telling as it could end done far ahead)

None has started yet, June 1 looks less and less likely unless they start soon. It's very fast and easy to shut down, a ton of work to start back up.

I felt the same way, so I called a few days ago for my June reservations and was told 7 days out!

That makes me feel even better, I did use the Chat feature today rather than burden the phone lines and the chatter recommended that I still pay . . . I mean, I know Mickey would like to have and will gladly take my money - but it just seems silly if I truly won't be penalized until 7 days out.

The thing is, if they really are at capacity, they should release the modifications they plan to have. I get they probably don’t 100% know, but there are many that are deal breakers for many. So it will naturally free up their capacity level. Unless they already have a logarithm for that. Like they are 15% above capacity right now & figure about that % will cancel once the modifications are released.

I think that 1 and 3 are the ones that will give the most advance notice. I would expect for cast members to get their work schedule at least 2 weeks in advance. I wouldn't be surprised if the second point happened just a couple of days before the park opens. They certainly have a lot of perishables, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of the food in the park either lasts several months or more and thus wouldn't have been thrown away, or just a few days and thus would go bad if replenished further than a week out.

Another dis poster mentioned she knew of a CM who did CM training for “Traditions” who was called back? She mentioned it’s usually for new employees, but I wonder if the same trainer might be involved in introducing new procedure training as well?

I hate the waiting game.
I know. And just b/c ppl don’t get cancelled today doesn’t mean they’re definitely opening either. In the other thread, we all had hope that since the CM schedules weren’t out yet on Sunday like they usually are that it meant something. But, they came out today & still nothing 😔.

I had a room at Pop May 21-26. Never got the dreaded cancellation email. But I was seeing the Covid shark eat my fast passes for the majority of my trip so I modified the reservation to move it for 9 nights at Pop end of September.

I have a week at CS Tower June 21-27. I normally make my ADRs on the fly because I’m a solo traveler. My only ADR is Victoria & Albert’s on June 23. Now the June ADRs are locked out.

I have a back up week at Pop beginning of August. I made 3 sets of Fast Passes without using a single one.
