I know. And just b/c ppl don’t get cancelled today doesn’t mean they’re definitely opening either. In the other thread, we all had hope that since the CM schedules weren’t out yet on Sunday like they usually are that it meant something. But, they came out today & still nothing 😔.
I have been following that thread as well. I feel like my days are spent lurking on these boards. 😂 At least I'm in good company.

I don't see June 1st opening at this point. Just feels too close to turn on the machine in like 3 weeks, right?

Not Disney related, but I just got a call from Hilton Grand Vacations to confirm our stay at Hilton Parc Soleil in a month (June 13th). So apparently they are planning on being open then, but that is just a resort hotel. (Didn't ask about how things may change (like would their pool even be open). This was a "got a deal if you sit through the timeshare spiel" stay.. ($250 for 3 nights and a $200 voucher for future Hilton property stay).

I told them I am still unsure about coming down there. If Disney isn't open, I am not going to waste the time/money on a vacation where I can't do typical vacation things. Luckily they have a pretty flexible cancellation/reschedule policy.

My Disney stay from June 15-20 at AoA is still scheduled and I am just waiting for a cancellation e-mail or more details of opening to decide whether to keep it or not.

At this point, I am just holding onto it, hoping to be cancelled to then be offered some sort of "come back later" promotion.

We are scheduled with the free dining promotion from our original trip being affected. I'm curious to see if, and when, they come out with another offer for our June trip if/when it is cancelled.

I think that 1 and 3 are the ones that will give the most advance notice. I would expect for cast members to get their work schedule at least 2 weeks in advance. I wouldn't be surprised if the second point happened just a couple of days before the park opens. They certainly have a lot of perishables, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of the food in the park either lasts several months or more and thus wouldn't have been thrown away, or just a few days and thus would go bad if replenished further than a week out.

Things might be advised to be thrown away out of precaution from the CDC. Stuff that could have potentially been contaminated and hold the virus. I don’t think the virus can live on an object for 2+ months, but if they’re moving forward with an abundance of caution, some perishables might need to be replaced

It will be interesting to see what they do for the people that rescheduled and MAY have to reschedule again. Especially since they stopped that free dining promotion. They have to offer SOMETHING to people who are cancelled right? Even if it is as simple as "come back when you want at your currently booked price"

I think Disney will need to offer some big promotions to get people to come back, but probably not free dining (as we don't know what dining will look like there in the future)

.. OR (if they are open in June) offer some "please don't cancel" incentives. I think a lot of people will not want to pay full price for a reduced experience (I know I don't).

It makes sense NOT to have any incentives if they are worried about capacity. Why entice people when you're trying enforce limits?

Yeah to offer an inventive and then when somebody tries to take adantage of it go "sorry full" is going to do more harm then good.

It is not publicly posted anywhere, but yes, Disney has relaxed package paid in full dates to 7 days out vs the usual 30, although the auto e-mails about payments being due have still been going out on their normal schedule.
Is this still just for arrivals until the end of June? We are booked July 7-15 at CBR. My final payment isn’t until June 7, but if they aren’t open by then I am hoping they will allow me to postpone my final payment as well.

“Walt Disney World Vice President Reiterates That July Reservations Are Not Indicative of a Reopening Date” - a website I’m apparently not allowed to mention here

And there are reasons for that. No need for the “website I’m not apparently allowed to mention” piece.

There are also sites that have covered that piece of news that are allowed here.

Yes, same boat here, 7/7-14 at Pop. I want to pay with discounted GC's through Target, but Target takes like 5 days for some reason for a payment to reflect in my available credit. Don't want to make any additional payments until I see Disney's reopening plan. I could always throw the payment on another credit card, but would lose out on about $150 of savings... stressing me out!

I have been trying for a couple of weeks to order Magic Bands for a June29-July 3 trip. Just logged on and was able to choose from the basic colors. I tried yesterday and had no luck.

For our March trip, I had bought $2k more in gift cards to pay for our resort 2 days before they announced closing. Between that and all the refunds on hard ticket events paid for with other gc’s, it adds up to around $3500. At this point, I’m considering our June/July stay free! Disney justification at its finest.:)

No, they don't. They proved that last week when they pulled it, they obviously aren't worried about future bookings right now :(
True, this isn't their fault and Disney doesn't owe us anything (except the ability to get full refunds) but I feel pulling the promotion early was to:
1) Prevent more people from booking it in June. Since they didn't offer any more reservations in June, a big chunk of the "promotion" was invalid.
2) Prevent a flood of rebookings when they do announce the opening date.
3) remove the "free dining" promotion, considering dining may be one of the things being scaled back in the future.

My thoughts are .. they probably were way too trigger happy on that comeback promotion and it ballooned way out of control when they realized they were going to have cancellations for 2 1/2 months, not just a few weeks.

But they may still offer something, just not for the summer and just not free dining. I think a lot of people will be afraid to travel for a theme park vacation for awhile and when Disney feels they are ready to go back to full capacity, they will need some sort of promo to get people back there.

I am the same way when I prepay. I bought concert tickets about 9 months ago for over $400 for a concert in July. That will probably get postponed.. so it will be "free" next year hahaha!

This was announced by Disney on DTA on March 15 and has not yet been retracted nor updated:

"Effective March 15, 2020, until further notice, we’re making a temporary adjustment to our final payment policy for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort packages booked through Walt Disney Travel Company. For existing bookings, final payment to WDTC will now be due 7 days prior to Guest arrival."

I think this is what happened as well. There was no real health guidance when this promo was first offered and I don't think anyone really foresaw that re-opening was going to need to happen in lowered-capacity, incremental stages. By incentivizing March, April and May guests to re-book for summer 2020, they essentially attempted to increase attendance and resort stays over the summer months which turned out to be the opposite of what they needed to do given re-opening criteria. My prediction is, we won't see any additional discounts offered in 2020. I would hope that, once things stabilize and Disney feels they can go back to something approaching normal (maybe sometime in 2021?) they will release a special promo for guests whose trips were impacted by the closure to try to entice them to come back at that point.
