Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Hi Lisa,

We miss you! Hope your week is going well and you are a good kind of busy!

Hello all of my wonderful Disboard Friends. :goodvibes:grouphug:

Just popping in to say that I am still here and yes, Amy you hit the nail on head. Incredibly busy and my life is not my own right now. :upsidedow

I do believe I am involved in way too much stuff, plus kids soccer and everything else. I keep telling myself, just make it to the middle of November and soccer will be over. But I kept telling myself all summer, just wait until August and you will have your schedule back. :rotfl2:

Brief synopise of the past week.
Monday - dance for DD and then dance for me
Tuesday - soccer practice for DD and DS, of course not at the same time so we spend almost three hours up there
Wednesday - Gram comes for dinner, an event in itself
Thursday - soccer again, but first I did a used book sale at work for our Navy Ball. Made $377 :woohoo:
Friday - was suppose to get the dance recital DVD, but we didn't. We were all so looking forward to having that.
Saturday - DD soccer game, DS soccer tournament - two different towns. DD went to spend the night with a friend and DS had his NJROTC Navy Ball. DH and I went out to dinner to celebrate our 17th anniversary. We decided to dress up and go for a nice dinner. You wouldn't believe the comedy of us trying to get dressed. I was almost ready to give up, put on a tshirt and shorts and go for a hamburger at Sonic. And what did we do after dinner? Went back home. :confused3 couldn't think of anything else to do that we would be back in time to get DS from his party. At 11:00pm Colby called to say that DD wanted to come home. :sad2:
Sunday - tried to catch up on laundry (made a dent in it ) and then took DD to a friend's new house for a jewelry party. DS had the 2nd day of his soccer tournament.
Monday (yesterday) we began it all again.

I did get to walk on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week, so that was good. I am re-thinking my schedule again. This one is just not working, exercise wise. I am walking a lot, but in short spurts. Good that I am walking, but it's just maintaining, not improving anything. I've got to figure out how to at least fit the WII back into my schedule. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This week I have a "seminar" at work I am co-hosting on Thursday. So the next two days are going to be nuts with that added in. But I have a four day weekend so....:banana::banana:

Sounds like you have been keeping quite busy. At least it's been a happy, family kind of busy. :) I hope you enjoyed your anniversary dinner. Getting dressed up for a fancy meal is fun once in a while.

As far a squeezing in more exercise time, how about the morning before work? Maybe get up 45min-1 hr earlier and exercise. Would probably feel painful at first but you might find you actually have more energy for the day after doing it.

Lisa
OMG you guys sound like us.We were a soccer family(still are)since my girls were 7 years old.We always had to juggle 3 schedules- DD18 was always on 2 teams and youngest 1 team.We were everywhere up and down the east coast. Now my oldest is in college and we still travel to watch her play and my youngest is done and is now playing piano.

The funny part is once it slowed a little bit- weekend games were less we did not know what to do with ourselves.Going out together same thing- ah lets just go home, we are not bar people so we go out to eat and then what? Home it is.

Once this college stretch is over maybe we will coach a team and bring them all the way up to high school.

Linda

Oh man Lisa, your evenings sound like ours! I am telling you, some days I wonder what in the world Dan and I do with ourselves once the kids grow up and move out on their own. My car will breathe a sigh of relief!

Good job getting the walks in, and I know you'll find a schedule that makes getting longer walks possible. Just gotta work out the kinks!

Hope your seminar is going well, hang in there!

And Happy Anniversary! Dan and I do that too, have dinner, go home! Good for you for making the effort to get dressed up and go someplace nice. We never do that!

Wow Lisa! You have been super busy, my friend. I hope you have a chance for some rest and relaxation this weekend. :goodvibes

How did the seminar go?

Hello Everyone:wave2: Thanks for stopping by and keeping up with me.

Week in quick review:
Monday - dance for DD and I
Tuesday - soccer for DD and DS, Fire Department for DH. I got a good walk in. :thumbsup2
Wednesday - fought sinus migrane all day and finally succumbed when I got home. I heard the kids come in and DS said, "uh oh, the door is closed, not a good sign." He actually helped DD get a snack. DH took them all out to dinner and I got up about 7pm. Had stuff to do for my "seminar" the next day.

Thursday - Certain times at work the word seminar is code word for lunch. We try to have a department get together at least twice a year. We call them seminars and some sort of work is usually done and we try to learn something new. Plus it is a chance for a lot of interaction between groups that normally don't see each other. The theme was Hawaiian. and would you believe we had a spam contest. People brought different dishes made with spam. I declined as I am the main hostess and had lots of other stuff to do. Lots of work, but everyone really enjoys them and I do love to throw parties.
In the evening, I took DD back to her school for Family Math night. Each teacher had a different math activity in their room. There was food for sale and free photos were taken. DD had a lot of fun and I was very impressed.

Friday - The kids were off from school for Fall Break (off Monday also). DD and I went for our hair appt and then we ran a couple errands on the way home. DS had flag detail at the football game, so we all went. They lost but we had a good time.

Today, we cleaned the garage. It's days like this when I wish that I had a different room in the house of each different category. Library for all the books, media room for movies and video games, sewing room, toy room, huge storage room for camping and sports stuff, etc, etc. Then maybe my car could go in the garage. I am doing a yard sale the first weekend of November, so we began sorting for that. DH is finally getting on board with cleaning out, so it's getting a little better.

Lola - thanks for the suggestion of getting up early, but I already get up at 4:15am. I only average 5-6 hours of sleep a night, so that won't work. Plus, I'm not a morning person. :sad2:

Linda - I sometimes think of what I will do when the kids are gone, reading, watching a movie without being interrupted, having a phone conversation, things like that. :rotfl2:

Amy - do dress up once in a while, it's fun. Of course, the first dress I put on a button on one sleeve promptly fell off. The first shirt DH put on had a stain, then something about his tie. It became quite comical.

Tracy - yeah, I'm nuts, I don't know how to relax anymore. :goodvibes

I forgot to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for April. She is doing fine both physically and mentally.

Just thought I would pop in and wish everyone a Happy Sunday. I am holed up in the bedroom right now. DS and DH are watching football and this is the farthest I can get in the house from them. They get very loud.

DH found some baby kittens when he was out cleaning up the side yard today. Fairly new and no mama around. Now at least I know what Roo has been barking at the past week. I told him to leave them and we'll watch to see if the mama comes back. I have really been missing our Sheba who has been gone for over a year now. I didn't want to get another cat, but if these hang around, who knows. There are two that we found. DH thinks he scared them with the weedeater.

I know what is like to have your house taken over by sports. DH was in heaven as both the Eagles and the Phillies were being shown on our local channels last night. I get too stressed if I stick around to listen to him yell at the TV!

Finally Lola, someone who understands what I go through. :thumbsup2

Let's play catch up.
Sunday - laundry, hiding from Football, working on cpu, Gram for dinner. Since we didn't have work/school the next day she stayed late. I stayed up way too late as once the house gets quiet, I lose track of the time.
Monday - took a couch to oldest DS that someone had given us. Took electronic recycles to Best Buy. Gosh that process was so easy!:thumbsup2 Had lunch with DS and DH. Dance for DD and then for me. We did two 20 minute zumbas and then practiced piroettes. THAT was an interesting site. :rotfl2: I really pushed with the zumbas and was happy with the workout.
Tuesday - work :crazy2: (it was really Monday in disguise) I walked 35 minutes at work and 45 minutes at the soccer fields. Amazing what new shoes can do for you. I had been worried about my pace, but my shoes must have been more worn out than I thought. Pace picked right up. :thumbsup2
Today - didn't get to walk as I was waiting for a call back from the guidance councelor at DS' school. He is failing Biology (by 1 point) and it is time for a new teacher. I am not satisfied with this one and the talks DH and I have had with her have not been good. We ended up buying him the Biology book to have at home to study with as she wasn't giving them study guides (not enough books for each student to have one). One week after he got the book he passed a major test with an improved score of 15 points over the last one. She also loses work the students turn in and then gives them a zero for not turning it in. Hate to do it, but his passing is more important to me.
DD on the other hand brought home all A's. :goodvibes

I know you all plan your Disney trips like I do. Pour over the TS meals, decide parks and meals way in advance, etc. Over six months ago, I asked my crew if they had any special requests or things we have done that they don't want to do again. Both kids said Sea World, DD asked for CRT for breakfast and CP for her birthday dinner. DH asked for Le Cellier's and Teppan Edo and DS just seconded the CP and Le Cellier's. So I study Touring Plans for schedules, study restaurants for new ones to eat at. Chose a resort, made my spreadsheet (changed it several times) and at the 180 day mark, I was ready to go. Got everything I wanted when I wanted it. :thumbsup2:banana: Fast forward to this past Monday.
DH - "Can we go over our schedule?"
Me - What schedule?
DH - Our Disney schedule?
Me - :confused3 sure, we can go over it tonight.
Later that evening, I print out the schedule, get my laptop, DH has his laptop and we sit down to discuss Disney. Now this is unusual as usually DH just packs the truck when I tell him to, drives to were I tell him to and I give him the week's schedule when we get there. His attitude always is just tell me where I have to be when. No problem, I can handle that.

Well, it seems DH and DS got to talking and decided on some things they wanted to do. and since I am the Disney guru, they just know, 38 days from our trip, I can make it happen for them.

First, DH wants to add in a golf day. So he picks the day and course and we get on line and make him a reservation. Done, that was easy. Then he tells me that they want to do the Steam Train tour at MK. Huh.....that stuff fills up real quick. So, I find all the info I need, but you can't make those reservations on line. I have to wait until the next day to call. I tell them "don't hold your breath, I'm good, but not that good."

The next morning (I get to work at 6:00am) I go out to my car about 7:00am to use my cell phone to call Disney Tours. I figure I'll be on hold for a while and don't want to sit at my desk like that. They answered right away. :thumbsup2 The CM was very nice and pleasant. She was able to get them on a tour, but...it was the day DH picked to golf. :upsidedow

AS that was the only day available while we were there, I figure DH would have to make a choice. Golf? or Trains? Back to my computer and back on Disney Golf page I discover I can get him the exact same tee time on another day, so I book that. When I finally talked to him that afternoon, he was like, do I have to make my decision now? uuuurrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!! No, honey take all the time you need. He said "well, I just don't want to miss breakfast at Tusker House. (The day of the new golf tee time) You won't dear, breakfast is at 8:00, golf is at 11:00, you can drive and you'll be fine. Finally got that worked out and I told them NO MORE CHANGES!!!!!!

DH's final comment was "well, I guess I better ask my boss for the week off now" :faint:

Lisa, I think I see a couple of new kittens in your future! Maybe God decided it was time for you family to have some new feline friends. :goodvibes;)

I hear you on the sports thing. Dh is all about basketball and hockey and both are about to vamp up. Ds is into hockey big time and will probably be bothering me very soon with "can I stay up and watch the Av's?" Dd and I head to my room to watch HGTV!

It drives me nuts the way the schools don't have enough books. My kids never bring home text books, for math in particular and it makes it so hard for them to study if they are having trouble. Definitely change the teacher, it sounds like she is the problem!

Laughing about your Disney plans and your dh. Dan does that to me all the time. He is still amazed I couldn't just make a Chef Mickey's reservation pop right up when he and the kids suddenly remember how much they want to to go there!

Great job with Zumba and walking!:thumbsup2

Lisa
I am still laughing about your Disney plans!I am the planner but also get evreything booked then decide to ask for the time off_ I don't know why but the plans just get me fired up- I guess I figure I am going no ,matter what????

Linda

LOL about the Disney plans, Lisa! I've been there and done that with my family too. ::yes:: I hope everything works out with the planning!:wizard:

Any updates on the Biology class situation? Did your DS get a new teacher?

I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend ahead!

Thanks to everyone for reading my dissertation. I'm glad I could provide a little humor along the way. :thumbsup2

Updates:
Kittens are gone. One died and the mother took the other one away. Guess we weren't the chosen ones after all. That's okay, I'm not sure I'm ready yet.

I have been playing phone tag with the school councelor. She won't call out to my work since it is long distance and leaves messages at my home. If I don't talk to her by next Friday then I am going to visit the school. I left a message about what I was calling about and I am kind of wondering if she isn't avoiding making the change. I do hope I am wrong about that.

Disney is as set as it is going to get. Unless I end up changing ESPN Club. I have been reading that on Sundays it is hard to get in unless you go really early in the afternoon and we wanted to eat there for dinner.
Oh, there is one addition. One of DH's friends who lives in Texas just sent him a message that they are going to Disney the weekend before Thanksgiving and wanted to stop by to visit. I'm kind of thinking they might be looking for a place to stay over night. Wouldn't have been a problem, but they are coming through here on Saturday and we will already be at WDW. DH sent them our schedule to see if they could coordinate with us.

Tomorrow night is our Navy Ball. Not looking forward to it as the head of the committee has not done his job. :sad2: It's just not looking good. Things always have a way of working out, but I hate loose ends.

I have been working on my budget. So far this year, I got one bill paid off and we vamped up our savings for Christmas and taxes. So the year does have some successes. I have reworked the budget and if all goes as planned I should have the last one paid off by the middle of May. Lofty plans, but I really want to stick to it. When I write it all down, it looks so simple, yet it rarely works out the way I write it. I think if we can make it through the next two months then I will have a bit more confidence in my plan. I sold the camper yesterday so that is one thing gone. Next is the mower and I have someone interested in it. Hopefully they will take it. I should know on Monday.

Tomorrow will be busy. DD has soccer at 9:00, then at 1:00 we finally get to pick up our dance recital DVDs from June. I can't wait to see it. Our last one with Mrs. Jeanne. Then April is taking DD with her and I will come home to get ready for the Ball. DS is going with us this year and gets to wear his NJROTC uniform. He is very excited. We will be spending the night on the coast as the ball is being held 1.5 hours away from us. I have to be there early since I am on the committee and stay until the end. The hotel gave us a discount on the rooms thankfully.

Sunday will be pick up DD, rest and recuperate.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

How did the Navy Ball go?

I hope you've had time for some rest and relaxation today!:goodvibes

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Hey Lola and Tracy, hope you all had a good weekend.

Saturday - DD woke up with a bad stomach ache so I didn't at her to soccer. She was better later thankfully, but I feel back asleep and woke up at 11:00am :scared1: Kind of messed up the day, but oh well, what had been going right? :confused3 Got DD packed and then we went to the studio to pick up our DVD. Kind of hard, but.....it was okay also. I haven't watched it yet, but probably next weekend.

DD was giving me a hard time about going with April. I finally figured out she is scared for her Dad, brother and I to all go somewheres off without her. She is afraid something will happen to us like happened to Mrs. Jeanne and her family. She is always fine if we stay home though. Now that we know what the problem is, we can work on it.

When I got home from the studio, DH and DS had not begun packing. :headache: So a scramble to pack up and hit the road. Got to the hotel and checked in without a hitch. I sent DS to find me a coke while I took a shower and the poor thing was afraid to come back. The hotel and casino doesn't have coke products, only pepsi. YUCK!!!!! By the end of the evening DH was ready to find a gas station. :rotfl2: (I'm not THAT bad.:rolleyes1 )

I went down to the ball room early to the first problem. The guy in charged asked me "how do we check people in?" :headache: I get the table set up and then yours truly ends up working it. Not a problem, I can handle that.

When dinner begins someone else comes up to say that no one arranged for a photographer from PAO to take pictures and no one else on the committee has a camera. Hi, :wave2: I'm Lisa your photographer for the evening. At least we were at a table that was easy access for me to move around the room.

Next problem, the people in the back of the room couldn't hear the guest speaker. Okay, took care of that problem. I did get to help hand out door prizes, that was fun. :goodvibes

When the music began, we asked to have the lights on one half of the room lowered. You are going to love this. The ballrooms had just been renovated and we were the first group in there after the renovation. The lights and HVAC were controlled by computer and no one there knew how to work the system. They said they were calling someone, but never got either issue taken care of. Didn't help that the DJ stunk so by 11:00pm there were only about 20 people (out of 300) left. We bailed also.
The room was beautiful, the service and food wonderful, but they should have been able to turn down the AC and lights. Probably won't use that venue again.

We had a nice room and DH and DS were asleep before 12:00. Me, I was up a while. We slept in and were out of there at 10:45am the next morning.

Sunday - we decided to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrell. Something for everyone and we enjoy it. They lost our order. We were all so hungry and they lost our order. The manager finally got involved and did bring use a plate of biscuits, but just one more thing, right? :rotfl: We stopped at the outlet mall for a couple of things and then went to pick up DD. She had an awesome time with April (they went to a Halloween party) and was very happy and tired when we picked up her.

Gram came over for dinner as usual and got sick. We had to take her home and get her settled there. Hopefully it is just a 24 hr bug.

Today I am home. I couldn't go to sleep last night and 4:00am came very early. I just had this very strong feeling that I needed to stay home. I haven't the leave to spare much, but I am trying to learn to just go with it. The feeling was so strong, that I couldn't ignore it. I got the kids to school and came back home to bed. I do feel much better now. Mondays are always rough at work and I have a very busy evening planned. Probably better this way.
