Lisa and Geoff's Castaway Cay DCL Dream Wedding PJ&TR 11-12-11

Great job! Your hanger is one of the best DIY projects I have seen on the Boards in a while. I think it looks wonderful! I bet more brides will try your project.

Here is a helpful hint for anyone that is wanting to try their hand at your project:
Go to www.dafont.com and download a font called "learning curve", "cursive" or any cursive style font that attaches the letters together. Open up a Word document and go to "page setup" and set the paper orientation to landscape. Next type the name you want to make like "Mrs. Sowers" or "Lisa and Jeff" using the "learning curve" font. You will want to use a font size of around 200...depending on the font and how long the names are. The name(s) may end up on two lines but that is okay. Next print on a sheet of paper and this will give you a basic template that you can follow to bend the wire.

Love your PJ so far.

DH and I are going to be on your cruise!!! :cool1: Hopefully, we will get to see you!!!

Congrats!

I never thought to do that Dolly but that is great advice.

LOVE the hanger, you are very talented!:yay:

Thank you!!

Great job on the hanger! very impressive. You should take orders ;)

Thank you. I was really surprised that I did that and how easy it was. I am SO busy with the end of the school year but after June 10th I will have more time on my hands so I just may...:confused3

I just found your PJ.. Congratulations!!
I'm getting married on 11-11-11 on Castaway!!

THat is awesome! We originally wanted 11-11-11 but didnt want to get married in Nassau on the ship and didn't want to take the 4 night cruise because of everyone's work schedule. We have 55 people going which is way more than we thought would be able to go.

I hope we both have great weather! :). Are you going to do a planning journal?

Wow, I love your hanger! You make it sound so easy, maybe I will give a try. Where did you buy the wire?

The wire was in the floral department at Michael's Craft Store and the hangers were $5.99 for a package of 5 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I really thought it would be harder than it was. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

I had to do the 7 night cruise just to get that date on Castaway. I'm doing a PJ on Disney brides, not on this site. But I will admit I poke around here to get ideas. I love reading PJ's from Disney Cruise Brides! We are few and far between.
I can't believe the amount of people you have going to your wedding. That's great. We only have 18 right now, but it is both our second marriage.

18 is a great number! I don't know what Disney Brides is...I will have to check it out. We are doing a 6 night cruise on the Magic for our honeymoon in March 2012. We are on the last cruise before the Fantasy replaces the Magic at Port Canaveral. I love the Magic!

Thanks! At that price I'll definitely be giving it a try before buying one from Etsy.

You didn't need the tip as you did a great job making your letters, but I thought it might help another person if they needed a little inspiration for how to make their letters.

I hope your school year is winding up on a high note! With the summer ahead maybe you will have time for more DIY projects for your wedding! I can't wait for you to post pictures of your "sowers" candy boxes and playing card boxes.

Have you ordered a fish extender yet? I saw a cute one the other day with an embroidered Mickey and Minnie and thought of you.

Thank you Dolly! I was going to wait and post all of my gift bag stuff at the same time but I will go ahead and post my AWESOME Dolly creations! I am not going to do a FE since it will cause me to have to bring even more stuff on the cruise...I may do it on a future cruise though...what a neat idea.

We are doing a gift bag for each cabin. I worked with Dolly to get some custom items to put in the bags. Here are some of them...

My favorite is the Swedish Fish that we turned into Sowers Fish. I think my friends and family will get a kick out of that. Dolly used the design of original Swedish Fish and used my new last name and our wedding colors. It turned out AWESOME!! She also did a logo for me that was posted earlier in my PJ. I love the stuff she did for me!!

Thanks for posting pics! They turned out GREAT!

Yes, Dolly they did come out great.

The third picture above is playing cards. Maybe I should make the pictures bigger so you can see them better...

I just had a fun thought! Since your wire hanger turned out so great and was relatively inexpensive you could make them for your bridesmaids as one of their gifts with their names on them and they could hang their bridesmaid's dress on them. Or it would even make a great hostess gift for your wedding shower.
