Leaving in 55 days!!! Can someone update me with latest regs on liquids on the plane?? What's allowed and what's not!!
There have been reports of TSA people insisting on quart-size bags, even though the sandwich bags are smaller. It makes no sense, but I would recommend quart-size ZipLoc (or similar) bags.I packed some clear ziploc sandwhich bags (did not have quart sized)
Are they allowing food on the planes now .
FYI food on planes was NEVER banned in the US
The only food restrictions are on foods that are liquids or gels. A gel doesn't have to be a clear gel. For example, you can't bring a bottle of mayonnaise or ready-to-eat pudding. If it can flow or ooze through your fingers, don't bring it.I thought when ban originally came out, they had a lot of food restrictions at least that was thee info being posted then!!
The rules are:Wow I did not have ANY probs when leaving from our home airport over the sandwhich bags, in fact they were making jokes about it. I had like 2 in each carry on full of shampoo, toothpaste, make-up, things of that nature, and never had a problem.
For TSA purposes, creams are liquids/gels. You can bring containers that are 3 fluid ounces or less and fit into the 1-quart bag that you put into the screening bin. Larger containers would have to go into your checked bags.1) What about creams? For instance I use a thick moisturizer. If you tipped the container upside down it would probably take hours and hours for it to spill out. I wouldn't call it a liquid, but it's not exactly solid.
Liquids and gels are usually labeled in fluid ounces. Nobody buys two pound of milk; they buy a quart of milk.2) They say the don't allow for instance, rolled up larger toothpaste tubes. Every container must be a 3oz. container or smaller. Ounces is a measure of weight not size. 3 ounces of mercury would be very small. 3 ounces of cotton candy would be huge. Do the really mean the are looking for a certain size of container that would hold 3 ounces of water?
