Here is one I did for a challenge here on the DIS:

If you go to the Creativity Community boards, we run a weekly scrapping challenge...that's how I got motivated again! Other DISers post layout examples or sketches and the page that they made using the example to get everyone started, then others post their submissions as they complete them.

So as you know, my genius brother decided to quit his job and move out of our apartment a few weeks ago.

What I didn't tell you (at least I don't THINK I told you...) is that the new job he got is a sales position. He does NOT make an hourly wage...it's commission only. Supposedly he was going to continue to pay his half of the rent and utilities until our lease is up in March 2011, since he can live with his best friend for free....

Well, he was not able to pay his bills for the month of April supposedly because he never got his pay from the military for his 3 weeks of drill.

He was not able to pay his bills for May, because he still has not gotten his military pay, and as he told me this morning, this new job isn't working out as he planned. So my mom just ponied up the $1000 that Mike owed us for April and May....

Mike claims he is now looking for a new job and has applications in to a few places.... BUT if he doesn't find a new job within the next few weeks.....he has decided to go active duty again

So....obviously, I don't want him to go active just so he can afford to pay the rent, but Lumar and I can't afford it without him....PLUS if he goes active, he can't go to WDW.

I told him I would help him look for a job, but he hasn't replied to any of my text messages after that.... There is a CVS pharmacy, an AutoZone, and a grocery store right down the street from us...he could WALK if he wanted to and be there in 5 minutes....but he claims he doesn't want to go back to retail. After sitting at my boring desk job for the last 5 years, retail looks like the Garden of Eden to me

But that's what I have been left with for now. As much as Lumar and I like going to Disney just the two of us....we really want Mike to be able to join us. I really hope he finds a job....

I love your scrapbook page! I would LOVE to make a disney scrapbook, but i don't know how! I want to take a class at like, Joann Fabrics or something, but every time I look into it they say you need your own tools and everything, and I don't know what I need, I've never scrapped before! So I never do it and still haven't learned!

I hope your brother can find a job and go to WDW with you!

Getting started is actually pretty easy but it's not cheap! You can PM me if you want and I can give you a list of some start-up supplies

I am subbing and love all the report so far. I have a 21 yr old daughter living at home, so I know your mixed feelings about your brother....good luck on helping him find a job.

My mother gave me three boxes full of old family pictures that she wanted me to put into a scrapbook for her and they are all buried in my closet. I LOVE doing my Disney books (I have a scrapbook for each of my trips), but for some reason I just can't get into doing regular old pictures. I've thought about doing scrapbooks for other people but I don't know how to get started on "marketing." I always mention to people that I would do their books for them but they never take me up on it!

I emailed my brother a bunch of job listings yesterday so we'll see what happens!

I talked to him today (via text message...that counts right??) and he said that he actually did apply for some of the jobs that I emailed to him so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Lumar and I can do WDW just the two of us...but we REALLY want Mike to come along! Considering he has not yet done TSMM! OR TRIED SCHOOL BREAD!!

Lol...2 things I've never done either! And every time I was in Epcot this past May I mentioned trying school bread and I was just never hungry enough to get it! Hopefully I will in November, and I hope your brother gets a job so he can try it too!

When you get to Norway, just stop in and get it and ask if they have a container so you can take it with you and snack on it later!

Thanks for joining me! I'm jealous that you get to go twice in one year! I haven't done that since 2006! I'm hoping I can do two trips next year but since we're getting laid off, I'm not sure we can swing it.

Well, I have nothing to update because all of my planning is officially done. My brother has not had any luck so far in getting a new job.

I told him to email me his resume, thinking that maybe that was the problem. I took a look at it and the only 2 things I can see that might be hindering him are that he has no objective/goal listed....just a list of his education and job experience.... and I don't think it helps that he just got his current job in May and he is already looking for a new one.

I told him that he has to put some sort of objective to present himself as a person and not just a list. I also told him to customize the objective for each application. Then I told him to consider listing his current job as part time. To me, that makes hunting for a new job already seem a little more understandable. It's not like he can spell out on a resume that he makes commission only and he works 10 hours a day for $20 (he gets paid $20 per sale). So maybe if other employers can see what his goals are, and also see that he does have A job...but it's only P/T....maybe that will help him.

We still haven't bought our tickets to the Halloween parties that we want to attend. Rather than charge them and let them rack up interest (and then there is the possibility that Mike will not be joining us....) I'll just wait until things are a little clearer.

Lumar made a payment on his part of the trip this weekend so his is halfway paid off. Mike still owes almost $1300 because all we've paid on it so far is $250. I decided I'm not sending them any more money (that I need to live off of) if he is not even going to be able to go. And right now, I'm more worried about him paying the rent. I'll keep you posted!

Ugh, looking for a job is the worst. Hope your brother can find something soon! I think saying his job is part time might be a good idea, and changing objectives on his resume for each job he applies to might help.

Yay for part of your trip being paid off!! I can't even think about paying anything off on my trip yet, right now I'm focusing on plane tix!

PS-I started a PTR for my November trip, come on over!

Yep she was the cheater and she is long gone...it's just a shame that he's downgraded since then.

Welcome back, BTW! I missed you! And I don't know if you knew or not...I booked in March but I just started my PTR and you were out of action for a while.
