Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Saturday I ran my 6 mile loop, felt pretty good but my watch stopped and I did not realize it so not sure about time. Then I walked 5 miles with a friend. It felt good to do something. Our treadmill comes tomorrow and I am trying so hard to keep my DH motivated, he needs to exercise and watch the food.Any suggestions out there on how you guys motivated your loved ones?

Happy New Year,
Linda

Hey Linda! You've been kicking your workouts!!! Great job!

My DH has gained weight in the last few months and none of his clothes fit. He's always been able to eat what he wants, but I think he meds are contributing to weight gain. I feel like I'm contanstly on him about eating and excercising. I'm there w/ you on that one. I can't figure out how to motivate/encourage him w/ out irritating him :confused3

Congrats on the new treadmill!!!

Keep up the good work! You're doing great!

Just in from a 3.1 mile snowy, slow run. I ran it in 33:50, a 10:54 mile.It is nice out now before the temp drops and the wind starts.I was heading out to walk with a friend but as I look out I see the winds have started and the snow is blowing everywhere.:(

I see that registration for any of the upcoming races will be in 2 weeks, I would love to do the Minnie and the 1/2 in 2009.

Holidays are over I am officially counting down to spring!

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

Happy New Year Linda!! I really hope you have taken time to look back on the year that was and see what incredible strides (pun intended ;) ) you've made in 2007. I'm constantly impressed with your tenacity....your ability to get out there in really tough running conditions.....your never quit attitude! :thumbsup2 Make sure you give yourself credit and hopefully your DH will see how successful you are and take on his own set of challenges and goals.

I hope you decide to do the Minnie and the Half! I know you'll just knock it out of the park! :goodvibes

Hi Linda,

I'm with Amy, you have made incredible progress this year, and 2008 looks like it will be great for you. As for your husband, there is nothing you can do but lead by example. Weight loss is something that a person needs to be ready for. You can be there to support him, and tell him you love him and are concerned for him. He needs to be the one to make the changes, and nagging will only dig his heals in.

Happy New Year.
Beth

Hi, Linda. I am SO IMPRESSED with your runs in such bad weather! You are truly committed to getting and staying healthy, and that will probably motivate your husband more than anything else! I know for mine, I can't nag at him or be the "food police" because that always backfires. So I just do my thing, and when I am doing well with diet and exercise, he does better also.

Please be careful out there - you don't want to injure yourself! Don't worry about what you gained over the holidays - it will come off quickly with the kind of pace you keep up!

Hope you have a great day!

Susan

Thanks everyone for your encouragement! The treadmill is great but boy does time drag.Did 30 mins.running yesterday followed by abs and weights(shoulders and chest). A little sore this morning but a good feeling. It is nice to see your speed increments as you go. I did manual but I may try a program next time.Add hills in there.

Hope everyone has a good one,
Linda

Treadmill yesterday for 30 mins.Tried to make it interesting so at 20 mins in I increased it every 2 mins so I was running at 6.0. It felt good once I was done,my husband is doing good. He walked for 30 mins.and continues to eat well.

Also did the weights and abs again, that I held off from for so long it feels good to get back to it.Walked 5 miles with a friend before dinner last night,it felt good to get out.

Everyone going to WDW next weekend how psyched are you????????

Have a great day,
Linda

Glad your husband is doing well with his eating and exercising! 6.0 on the treamill! I can barely do 4.2! :goodvibes Great job!

Hi Linda,

You are back into your killer routine. I agree that time drags on the treadmill. Great job kicking up the pace. I think your body deserves a couple of rest days in here, even if you have to work.

Take care,
Beth

Hi, Linda. I'm with Beth, I don't think it will hurt anything for you to have a couple of days off from exercise, especially with the pace you keep up! It is great to see you keep moving forward, even when the TM is not your favorite thing. Sometimes we just don't want to do what we need to do, and reading about someone else's determination always helps me to grit my teeth and get it done! So thanks for helping me stick with it when I'd rather take the easy way out!

Hope you have a great day!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here. I ran my 6 mile route visualizing everyone running the 1/2!I ran it in 61:58, a 10:19 pace,my 2nd best for my 6.Today I did my 6 in 62:24, a little windy today. So tonight we will get 6-12 inches of snow, I bet no school here.

I can't wait to see pix and hear about the races!!!!!!!

Take care everyone,
Linda

Is anyone back yet??????????

Today I ran 10 miles. After reading marathon registration info I was into it.I ran it in 1:45:42, a 10:34 pace and I burned 1212 calories, that is cool! I needed that after the last couple of days.

I hope everyone is doing well and all of us northerners are we ready for another one???????? Friday will be a mess here.

Don't say that about Friday! I don't want another snow day this week. :scared1:

You rock with your training, you really do! You are so motivating with your workouts!

CONGRATS on the 20lbs!!!!! Way to go! :cheer2:

You're pace is awesome!!! I'm toying w/ doing the half in 09, but I know I will maintain my Snail speed! ha!

Keep up the good work!!!

I went out there in the slush this morning and did 3.1 miles.I think my sneakers weigh 10 lbs. each -I'm not kidding. I was splashed by people who don't think you should be out there, probably the same people who won't shovel their sidewalks!

I did it in 30:48, a 9:56 pace.Under the circumstances I'll take it.

Have a great one everyone-

62 days until spring,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Your dedication humbles me. I used the cold to stay in bed for an extra 30 minutes this morning. Congratulations on the 20 pound loss. You are amazing.

Take care,
Beth
