Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Not much happening here in the form of exercise. My work schedule kills me, I am on my feet at quite a pace for 10 hrs 3x/week.By the time I get home it is off to kids sports then home and bed.On my days off the weather has not been great.Ice and rain today, I will probably do the treadmill.

That groundhog BETTER NOT see it's shadow! I need Spring now.

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

Yay for spring!! I'm ready for it too...I ran in Boston in late November and it was so cold! I don't know how you guys do it all the time :)

Anyway...I wanted to let you know that I answered a bunch of your questions in my journal, didn't want you to miss them. I love talking about training, running, nutrition, etc...so please don't hesitate to ask!

It's exciting to know you'll be sporting a medal come next January, there is nothing like the feeling you get while wearing it...and there is nothing like training for your first one...the anxiety, the determination, the unknown...it's going to be fun watching you prepare and finish your goal with so much success :goodvibes:

Have a good day!

Thanks Scott!!!!!!!!

I actually made it outside this am before the ice. At first I was going to blow it off and go right to the treadmill but when I looked out and it had not started yet I said what the heck! I was not my best but I did it.I ran 6 miles in 63:45, I have not done a thing since Sunday and I felt it.

Linda

Hi, Linda. Kudos to you for your tenacity - I am not sure I could hang in there and keep on going in the kind of cold you have to endure! Not giving up seems to characterize a lot of people on this board, you included.

Hope things warm up a bit and you can get outside more. Have a good weekend!

Susan

Hi Linda...

GREAT job getting out there today before the ice hit. I wish I could say the same but it got here early :(.

And I'm totally with ya' on the Groundhog...that rodent had better not see his shadow or else ;).

What a day it is out there today! It was 46 and sunny today and no wind.I ran my 6 mile route in my best time for that distance.I ran it in 59:37, a 9:56 pace.

It could have something to do with the fact the winter layers of clothes were off for a pair of shorts and a tech shirt.

I also had oatmeal(which I always do everyday) but an hour after the oatmeal had a half bagel with PB.Good fuel.

Well whatever made the difference I am feelin'good! This week will be mild but winter is still here, this is when the blues will hit people because it is a tease!

Monday mornings I dread because we are off and running for 10 hrs as soon as we go through the door-UGH!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great week everyone,
Linda

:thumbsup2 Way to go Linda! I am looking forward to the milder weather this week but you are so right, we still have a long time ahead of us for cold and snow! I went out today too and it was so nice!

Keep at it!

Allyson

NICE RUN Linda!!! Way to go!!

I agree...was so nice to be out there in much better weather today!

Hope your weekend was good :)

Hi Linda,

You had a great run. Congrats! I am liking the milder temps as well. I am ignoring the fact that winter is still here. Now, if the sun would only shine.

I hope your Monday isn't too hectic.

Take care,
Beth

Hi, Linda. Glad you got in a run in nicer weather. That always helps to keep going, I'm sure.

Hope your Monday goes well, albeit busy. Have a good one!

Susan

HI Linda! Yay! for a great run!!! Keep it up! You will be so ready come January!!!

Hope you've had a good week!
Stacie

Thanks everyone for the support!

Not much happening here. Took a walk today, that was it since Sunday. The weather is really starting to become a downer here.

I have not heard from WDW about my registration(mailed 1/26) I think it was.I am at the mailbox everyday hoping that will bring back some motivation if I can't have sun.

Hope everyone has a great weekend,
Linda

Hi Linda

WOW...that 6 mile sub 10 mpm run you had was SOOO impressive! I just can't believe how fast you are over the longer distances. You have to feel so good about that! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the weather..it has really been causing problems for me too. The ice/snow/rain weird weather garbage is bringing me down :(. Hang in there, once spring hits you'll certainly feel great out on those runs.

Hi Linda,

You can count me in the group waiting for Spring. This weather is killing me.

Have a good weekend,
Beth

We are looking to book a spring vacation to California,Newport Beach area. I know some of you guys have been out that way.Does anyone have any info?Oh yeah it is about 17 miles from Anaheim ;)

We will be using our Marriott timeshare, looking at Marriotts Newport Coast Villas??????? Anyone seen it or been there?

TIA,Linda

The Newport Beach area is really beautiful :). Great location....easy drive to Laguna Beach, Anaheim, etc. It took, if I remember correctly, about 30 minutes to get to Disneyland! BONUS! :goodvibes

I wouldn't hesitate to book it. The Marriott property...it's really beautiful. Probably the nicest one I've been too!!!

Great thanks Amy! Unfortunately I can't book it until my DD state soccer schedule comes out.We leave after one game and come back in time for the next one.

Taking kids out of grade school is a piece of cake. These sports is what puts a wrench in things when they get older.

Linda

Yeah...the sports are a big deal LOL! My daughter's softball schedule dominates our life from, well, it's already taking up four days LOL. But anyway...from March until July last year. :scared1: LONG season!!! Luckily the kid loves it...because it's really cramping my style ;).

Hopefully you'll be able to get there. It truly is a lovely place!!!

Just came in from a run. I thought I would switch it up a bit and run the perimeter of the hood and see how far that was.Did not envision that many hills!!!!

When I left the house the sun was out and it was a little cool. Not even 1/2 way into the run the wind started and I was in a blizzard!!!!!!! Is it me or what???? As I ran up the hills I had to keep my head down to avoid the wind or I would not have been able to breath through it.

It ended up being 4.6 miles, measured in the car after,I ran it in 47:07,a 10:14 pace. I was not too disappointed since I had so many hills and was running in SIBERIAN conditions.I am glad I got out there having done nothing for a week was truly apparent in my huffing and puffing.

Need to get the diet back on track too.Today so far so good. The weight has not changed but I feel the difference.

Have a great week everyone!
Linda

Hey Linda,

I agree, we have been having some wicked weather lately. How long until Spring?

Great job on the run. I am sure you've got the diet back on track.

Take care,
Beth
