i heard that there was supposed to be a new stitch ride at the magic kingdom in tomorrowland? Its supposed to replace the alien encounter ride. Anyone know details about that???

I was never a huge fan of AE, so I'm hoping this one is good! I love Lilo and Stitch, so I'm hoping to enjoy this as well!!

Does anyone know? Is this ride gonna have a height restriction?

Wondering for my Lilo and Stitch loving petite 4 year old who will be 5 when we go home in December.....

I'm not sure it's going to be appropriate for a 5 year old. I don't think this is a new ride; I think it's just re-theming of the old Alien Encounter. It's probably going to be a bit cuter and tamer, but it'll still probably be the same basic thing... strapped into your chair in the dark, with an alien loose in the room.

FWIW I thought they were making it tamer because too many people thought it was too frightening. Anyway, I asked what the height restriction was not weather or not you think its appropriate for a 5 year old. As a parent I'm the main person who decides that (with the help of my husband).

I think your 5 year old would enjoy it. From what I've heard its going to have plenty of humor and generally more light-hearted than AE was.

It is only stitch, no Lilo. The ride is supposed to be a prequel to the movie. Stitch is a prisoner and is being transfered when he escapes. The most recent Disney Magazine has an article on it.

ChairborneRangr Are you sure it has SE? I've seen that link but I'm not positive SE is in it because the ride has yet to open (October they say)?

Would one assume (yes, I know the saying) that the height requirment is 40" like most of the other rides that are similar?

It doesn't, but the seats should be the same as AE and would have the same height restrictions. Someone more in the know needs to correct me, but I don't think they are gutting the show, just changing the theme and the story. The ride system should be intact, giving yo the same height restriction.

but just MHO

While I think it would be nice (and appropriate, seeing as how Stitch is an animated character in a kiddie movie) if WDW made the attraction more child friendly, with a shorter height requirement, I don't think they'll be spending the really big bucks to rip out the old seating/harnesses, and all that entails, and putting in new ones so that smaller, younger children can experience the attraction. But maybe they'll just remove most of the harness, leaving a few sensors/parts still working in/on the seats? Kind of like the seating in the 3D attractions.
