Yes, we all certainly did. And I fear we're about in the same boat now. WOW! The "other side of the table" was an intensely intimidating lot back then.
I wasn't one of the itimidating ones! I worked for HCJB World Radio when I was in college and used to help out with all of the activities during the week long interviews. I usually did fun stuff like dinners and such rather than the "bear thine soul for inspection" type things.

YOU DID??!!! We worked for them in Papallacta at their hydroplant in the moutains above Quito for 3 months (july-oct, 1997).

Small world!!

DH was helping design the access road to the new dam.

If picture of Chevy Chase and “Vacation” are now swimming in your brainly data banks, please don’t let me stop you.
Actually I was thinking RV with Robin Williams.

Texas was, no offense to all my Texan friends out there, well, flat and pretty darned uninteresting. Maybe I was looking all the wrong places, but I-10 was just very dill for 2 days.
Having driving all of I10, I have to concur. It's not our most exciting stretch of road. Don't get me wrong, I love me some San Antonio, but hours of nothing in between towns is a bit much.

I remember getting beneigts at the Café du Monde, the place that’ famous for them, and doing some browsing in a street market where my son HAD to try alligator jerky. He said he liked it.
Been there, done that. I may have gotten a t-shirt, but that was back in high school and I only store Disney Trips in my long term memory.

Awesome! I worked in their Colorado Springs office for a year in 1994 before I transferred to a different school.

I can hardly even do that anymore.

What a small world! I'll bet you know some of the same folks we worked with.

Geeze..a trip from Portland to Florida. That has HEADACHE written all over it! :headache:

It was both a colossal headache AND some wonderful memory making. My kids still talk about the rotten roads in LA. One time the motor home was bouncing on the highway so badly that my dad actually flew OFF the bed in the back!!! It was that bad.

i have been faithfully following along (quietly for once) but holy cow. that long trip in an rv seems like my worst nightmare (could be cause my 3 year old gets car sick going from here to the mall)

Well then, the only "good" thing about doing a trip in an RV (if you really must) is that you can be free to puke anytime you'd like. The bathroom is most convenient.

Poor thing. That must travelling pretty tough!

Leisa, sorry...I've yet to get through this whole thread but I have grabbed bits and pieces and you guys are hoots. I had to take my boss to the hospital ER today in a cab as he wasn't feeling well and then I was busy with my DH who needs to have epidural steroid shots (you can read about it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2311326

What I read I'm enjoying and promise to participate more in the coming days. And I'll see you on Tim's thread too. :)

He's a lawyer; served in the Administration 1961-1963; he's been a friend of the President's for 20 years (the President used to work in our law firm and I know him well too).

gotcha, now it makes sense.

The only memory I have from Texas is looking for cacti. The first one spotted had a couple squares of T.P. on it, and it was about two inches tall. I remember being a bit dissapointed. Mom laughed at it though...:rotfl:

Yeah, TP on cacti cracks me up every time. Every time, being once or twice.

Rebekah also, in her ever observant way, pointed out that I called Texas "dill". Did anyone else notice that??!! It might be "dull" there, but never "dill"- that is for pickles, and cream cheese. Which, too, is an odd combo- kind of like Texas and dill.

:rotfl2: I was wondering about that. I though maybe it was a blankastan saying or something! Or maybe a reference to an unfortunate pickling incident. Not too many cacti around these parts. Just a few prickly pear out in the country.

Don't you love when you are in the middle of DISing and the boards go down for maintenance???????

Oh that happened to me last night. Now I have to get my pics uploaded from yesterday. Now what to do first.. talk about the movie or finish my TR? :confused3:confused3:confused3

Lordy, I know!!! Hated that this morning. (It was AM for me!)

I was just about to post on Cynthia's thread, and poof. Wait, that's code for fart, I just learned today. Ummmm, wham, it was gone.

Weird.

Finish your TR, I can tell you want it out of your hair.

Go to your PTR and learn what you can do with an elephant, now, though.

Ok..Portland to Orlando in an RV would def not be on my list of things to achieve in life, lol. When I was a kid we used to go to Maine (from VA) and back, or to FL, but those can both be done in under a day if you push, and two days easily. The nice thing about RVs though is that you can sleep comfortably. Though with 4 kids along, I bet you guys weren't doing too much of that either! And I too would think the above ground graves are a little creepy, though I understand the reasoning. However, the graveside picnics thing just really skeezed me out. Looking forward to the next installment!
