Like the Phoenix, out of the ashes arises THE NEWEST WL FAQ! (Part 3)

Thought I would tag along on this thread...b/c I'm sooooo excited about our upcoming stay at WL for my youngest DS's 8th birthday!

You have come to the right place. and it looks like you'll be heading to the right place before too long. This thread is loaded with info. I haven't got my WL Vet designation yet but I'm constantly spouting off about the place to friends and family and I learned it all right here.

There are some great pictures to be found at Majestic's Wilderness Lodge Fan Site on Webshots. FloridaCat took a really great picture of the lodge at night and for the first time ever, I could see "the bear". I think it was FloridaCat, it could have been RatPack or Majestic or just about any of these great folks, they all take great pictures!

You can even check out some of these handsome families at the same site. Yes, I am just a little bit cranked right now because I'm just a few months away and I can't wait!!!! So again, welcome and thanks to Kimmar for keeping this going and to Aspiring Cindy for her "sister" thread.

What I've been wondering lately is, If we keep recommending WL and everyone keeps falling in love with it...We won't be able to get reservations for our trips.:scared1:

With WDW and off site hotels opening thousands of rooms this coming year, i think that is unlikly. You do bring up avalid concern as I have thought the same thing, we will have to monitor it to see. Fact is, even with the popularity of the thread, I imagine we number under a 100 est.

Reading the resort boards, not all share our passion for WL, but there is more interest in WL then when I first came on the thread.

I know...what is with THAT!!!!

It has become my passion, I don't know if I will ever stay at another again...unless they GIVE away the GF...then, maybe I will sacrifice...

Well my DVC membership is at VWL, and I know I'll be ok for 40 more years....but I also enjoy going for long week-ends and eating out having quite time without using so many points over the week-end.

On an earlier post I recounted first trip back to the Poly after WL I cried because I knew I wouldn't be staying at Poly like before, WL had my heart. I did stay at Poly once sense then, week-end for MVMCP and WL was booked.

i stayed at the Poly on my dd first trip...during the pool construction. I got it for nothing and it was always a dream to stay in a monorail hotel. The next year I couldn't get the WL for my week trip, so I took the CR....what a mistake...I had no balcony, I looked at an ugly parking lot and getting from the N wing to the main building was a HAUL!!
The only thing I can say about the 2 original hotels is that the rooms are MUCH bigger...it was before Disney tried to maximize space...anyway....I think that the imagineers did the best job on the WL and it is my Home, Sweet, Home!!

Ditto.

We are loving the WL already and we haven't even been there yet. I'm also wondering what I'll be like when I get back. :)

Be warned, part of you will remain behind when you check out and you will be obsessed with plotting your return.

First the post was not to start a debate, because we are “family” but to compliment Kimmar on a fantastic job. 300 pages plus is an outstanding accomplishment. The other point was for the original WL VETS to be proud of the part they played. As Corky said, tongue in cheek, “free room”. I think that thought has passed through all of us as we brag about our “home” to others. LOL If newbies, like you, come to love the Lodge because of us, I assume that is the intent Kimmar had in mind from the beginning.
I guess a weakness I have had is if I know a good restaurant, place to go or stay or directions, I am always willing to help.

take it from me tardin...when you get home, you will lay in your bed and pretend that the Silver Creek Falls and the MK are right outside the sliding glass door!
Pretty soon, when you hear the theme from "The Big Country" you will not think of the "Beef....it's whats for dinner" commerical, but "gee, this is the WL lobby music!::yes::

I'm obsessed with plotting my original trip to WL. I can only imagine what I will be like trying to plot my return :)

You will love The WL.....FloridaCat is right about that, and about restaurants, and he has the best local directions on any of the boards no debate here. I for one am also very thankful for Kimmar and everyone on this thread...saved me driving time (and toll money) With room locations..Plus now also thanks to Floridacat local weather reports....Even though I'm two hours away here in North Florida weather can be totally different at WDW.::yes::

So Also Thank you..FloridaCat...:wizard: Your the WIZ

FC,
Great Pep rally you got going there. Only thing is you all are killing me! I have tried and tried to get WL for our upcoming trip to no avail.:p Now my parents are :bounce: off the walls with excitement at getting to stay at a monorail resort and since they are picking up the tab, I am stuck there. But at least it is a closer trip over to WL for a visit than it would have been from AKL.

Hey!, your at Disney and the price is right. 10-4 on the Pep Rally, don’t know where that came from, but quiet now.
Congrats to Coach Bobby, “winnings Coach”. Talked to my ND alum buddies back home. They say one more great recruiting year and we are back on the national scene.

Everyone has to remember “sold Out” has many meanings at a resort. If you’re wanting to book on a discount code, FL Resident or AP, there are a “limited number of rooms” set aside. So if they are gone, “It’s Sold Out”. Everyone should be glad they found DIS, as the odds the people in the next room are paying Rack Rates.

How is the new job working out?

FC,
You are right, as long as I am at Disney, it can't be all bad. Don't know about new job yet, I start Monday and will let you know after that. Thanks for asking though. As for the Irish, they can have that next great recruiting year since we do not play them after this year. I just hope we take care of business this weekend.

For everyone else,

A poster has started a thread on the best deluxe and at this time WL is winning but didn't see a lot of other WL VETS there, take a moment and post up and let's make it a landslide!!!!

You know its going to be busy when Disney just added a whole bunch of new days for Spectro Magic Parade at the MK for Nov. Also the new Wishes Fireworks are now showing every night. Friends of mine who work for Disney told me that the FTP was a huge success.

Ratpack, I was there, voted but did not post.

HarborWhaler You could verywell be right. WDw has always called the locals their "Bread & Butter" Whenever they come up with a new attraction or show, you can bet they will be out there in droves.

Wishes is really dragging them in. I will wait until Thanksgiving or Dec. and drive down. Then I can catch the decorations and Wishes in one trip.

You are right on target, watch the park hours and it gives a good indication of what the crowds are going to be like. I watch it right to the day I head down.

RE: Park hours conversation.

We were there the same week last month & last year (Sept). I have the park hour brochure from last year. The hours were slightly longer 1 year ago than last month.

I was rather suprised. I thought with the seemly larger crowd this year due to the FTP, the hours would not have been cut.

In my opinion, this year was much more crowded than last year. The wait time for our rides was similar to our mid August trip 2 years ago, while last year, we walked on even the most popular rides.
