I just love these and want to make sure we see them. I am actually planning for next year and want to make sure we see them lit. Can anyone tell me the first day they starting lighting the Lights of Winter - I don't mean what time at night - I mean the first day they are lit. Is it before Thanksgiving?

Thanks,
Linda

They started November 25 and run through December 30. :)

Wow, that was fast. Thanks so much. Just another thing I love about this board.

My experience has been that they run until Jan. 15th.

Is it different this year?

Is this the big archway that lights up with the music? They were as beautiful as ever this year but I noticed that the display they normally have with the white lights in front of the arch wasn't there :(

The official date is December 30 this year. But as quickly as things tend to change, who knows? ;)

What are these I have never heard about them?

They are several ornate "archways" that are spaced across the main bridge between Future World and World Showcase in Epcot.

They are covered with many colors of holiday lights that are computer-controlled and "locked" (synchonized electronically) with the big FOUNTAIN at the center of Future World. There is a special recording of Chritmas musical selections that plays on the area speakers and the lights and the fountain are all color-keyed and synced to this music track.

Beautiful!

They were lit up during the marathon for the last two years, but not at night.

Ok I have seen the lit but not getting lit. We will have to try and see that this year. Oru first stop is Epcot

I've seen some pics of these - I didn't realise that they were also in sync with the fountains (and, therefore, the music)!

Can't wait!

What time at night do they light them? Last time I saw them light up for the night was in 1995 & purely by dumb luck. I'd love to see it again this year.

This is one of those "Disney" things for me. On paper it sounds rather bland but then Disney does its magic and it is jaw dropping beautiful. I had read about them and decided it wasn't worth the time and then stumbled over them. Wow. :wizard:

I know for the past few years we have spent NYE in Epcot and they were always lit then. Last year we went to the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Epcot (I think around 6:00 pm) this is about a 30 minute show with all the characters in front of the tree doing some song and dance numbers and then they light the tree. I want to say that this is also when they light the arch but I really don't remember. But it does stay lit all night and the lights blink on and off and change color in time with music.
