Life Could Be a Dream- A May 2011 PTR

Both those days sound fantastic....and extremely relaxing! You have the right attitude when travelling with two little people....just do what you can do!!!:thumbsup2 Those afternoon naps sound so wonderful:cloud9:

I laughed out loud when I saw in an earlier post: "Landon will be wearing shoes."

You wouldn't want to get reprimanded for a second time at the Digsite...:rotfl:

Your AK and DTD plans sound great; I hope your boys cooperate and let the plan run smoothly!

Your plans sound great, I dont think those 2 take bad pictures ever!!...I think reading your TR and PTR has opened my eyes to every little detail you have to keep in mind when traveling with children!!

The second half of the day sounds great.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter.

Everything looks awesome! You are very lucky that Carter will walk with the stroller and not try and take off. I know this is a touchy subject around the Dis, but I leash Everett every time we leave the house because he is such a runner. I'm going to hold out hope that he will be better by the time he is Carter's age. Was Carter always good about sticking near you, or did he get better with age?

If you are looking for a good place for the kids to get out and for Landon to crawl around, try the covered hallways next to Innoventions. There is one right near the Character Spot, near the fountainview bakery (or whatever its called now). It is a pretty deserted place, and is carpeted, so it is good for crawlers and walkers. We were having a very hard time finding places for Everett to crawl around on our last trip, but that was one of the best we found.

It is enclosed, so you don't have to worry about escapees, but there is not alot of foot traffic, so you don't have to worry about them getting in someone's way. :thumbsup2

We had a few really good afternoon naps in December, so I'm hoping the boys will sleep good for me again. I think those days should be fun. :)

Yes, I won't make that mistake twice. :rotfl: I still say Landon was fine, but we won't be Digsite hooligans again.

I hope they cooperate, too. They tend to be really good at Disney, just because there is so much to see and do, so hopefully that will continue this trip.

Thanks! I think the boys are very photogenic. They like to smile for the camera. :teeth: There is a lot to think about when traveling with little kids, but I've found that as long as I do think about it, it is likely to be fine.

Thank you, Kathy! We did have a very happy Easter. Carter likes the Easter Tigger.

Carter is a very easy little kid to take places. He likes to follow the rules, as much as he can understand what the rules are. We've only had one incident in a store where he went out of sight, and I'm not sure it was really his fault. He ran around a rack of clothes where I couldn't see him and so I called to him and he didn't come immediately, so I went around the rack and of course, he was coming around to me and we went around in circles for a bit. Not funny at the time, but looking back on it, it's mildly funny.

After that, I told him he needed to stay where I could see him at all times, and we haven't had any more problems. I really think a lot of it is just Carter's personality.

Carter does have a backpack leash that he wears sometimes. I got it for him after his arm was dislocated on our December trip. I figured it would be better not to rely on hand-holding with a little boy whose arm dislocates easily.

He uses it in situations where there's a lot of people or traffic close by, so he doesn't have to hold hands, but is still safe. I will definitely bring his backpack to Disney, so if he suddenly turns into a runner, I'll be able to manage it, still. I hate that there is a negative connotation with using leashes for little kids, but I figure if it keeps him safe and keeps his arm from popping out, then other people can think what they want about us.

I wouldn't have thought of taking the boys to that spot to crawl. I can see how it would be deserted. I'm really hoping I won't have any crawlers by then, but carpet is probably good for new walkers, too.

Have you even considered renting a stroller? I do like the double city minis, they steer well, have decent storage, good sized sunshades and would be great for your two boys, and you can get them through Orlando stroller rentals. I've heard good things about the company, and I know they'll deliver right to the resort. It would be more expensive than bringing your own, but the cost may be worth it to save the hassle with a difficult stroller when you are going to be alone.

I agree, I love the double city minis. Very easy to open, close, and maneuver. I have rented through Orlando Stroller Rentals 3 times now and it is a great service. Of course I probably could have bought one by now for what I paid overall! :rolleyes1

I love your day 2 plans! You know your boys so well, and how to make the most of it, at their pace!

I'm so jealous that you get to see the Flower and Garden Festival! I want to go next year, just for a weekend, maybe just the two of us, with our AP's of course! I think the AP is going to be a great excuse for more trips!

I think I need a leash for my 4 year old!

That'll be a great day! Because of your TR, I have those chewy caramel bars on our must have list on our Epcot days!! I may try a couple of different things in that store...just maybe:rolleyes1

Your Epcot day sounds great! It's nice that your DH will be back with you and the boys and will be able to see the Flower and Garden Festival with you.

Hi!

Just read through your report and had to say, as a parent of two as well, you are very brave to go alone! ;)

Sounds like you have a great plan and I'm sure it'll be great and fun!

We're going in June and staying at Pop for the first time. I'm looking forward to it because it looks like a great resort. :)

Epcot on the 2nd day sounds great! It's one of those parks you can just stroll around and not really do anything and still have a great time! One of my favorite things to do is just wander through World Showcase! And it's even better when the Flower and Garden fest is going on!

Day 3 sounds great! I'm sure you and the boys will be happy to see Jeremy! And you will finally get to do some adult attractions while the boys nap! :cool1:

I hope you like the chewy caramel bars as much as we do. I can't wait to get back there and get some more! :yay:

Sounds like a fabulous day. Epcot is going to be beautiful.

I love Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival. Everything looks amazing. :cloud9:

I'm really glad Jeremy will be back with us in time to see the Flower and Garden Festival. We saw it together last year, so it's nice to see it again this year. Although it might be setting a dangerous precedent. :rotfl:

Hi! Thanks for reading! I suppose I'm either very brave or very foolish; we'll see which pretty soon. :rotfl: I do think it will be a fun trip, though.

Your trip is coming up soon, too. :woohoo: I hope Pop is a fun resort. I haven't been there since it was refurbished. It should be a fun place for kids.

I love strolling through World Showcase. It's so beautiful. During the day, the sun sparkles on the lagoon and at night, all the countries lit up are so magical. And the Flower and Garden Festival on top of it all will be perfect. :cloud9:

I know the boys will be happy to see Jeremy. They both get really excited when he just comes home from work, so I'm sure after two days, they will be ecstatic.

Another vote for the double City Minis. Interesting. :scratchin

I'm the world's leading expert on Carter and Landon. I'm pretty used to their pace by now.

I hope you get to go to the Flower and Garden Festival next year. It's really worth seeing. With APs, I can think of so many trips to go on. I'm sure we won't get to do all of them, but, it's just nice knowing that we could.

:worship:
I have four strollers, including two sets of umbrella strollers, yet none of them are exactly what I want for Disney. I'm sort of resigned to picked the least troublesome stroller.

This is me. We are taking our single Graco. The big one. I really think Kara needs a stroller that lays flat for napping. I have the sit and stand dlx but the seats only slightly recline. I sold the stroller I loved because I bought the sit and stand. Now I dislike the sit and stand. I do have a double jogger I love but DH says NO WAY to taking it(we will be using the buses), and you can't get around in stores for anything.

Woes of a Momma! :rotfl:

Trip plans are sounding GREAT!

Superb plans, I must say! Can you please take a picture of the chewy caramel bar on your trip so I know exactly which one to get? Sophie is a caramel fanatic. I envision most of her snack credits being used here. She saw a picture of the caramel brownie and almost peed in her pants. :lmao:

I hear you on the stroller. I really wanted to rent one from orlando stroller rentals, but was shot down. Since we are driving, Scott couldn't justify the cost when we have several perfectly good strollers that we can throw in the car. Not bringing the humoungous graco double. Not brining cheap umbrella. Not bringing full size single. So we are bringing our awesome, superduper, phenomenal maclaren quest (with newly purchased cup holder caddy) and borrowing a friend's lightweight peg Perego. I would much rather have a double, but this is best we are going to get! I need to get another cup holder for the peg Perego. Why do these high end strollers not come with cup holders? It just doesn't make sense. I am looking forward to the next trip where we will probably only bring one stroller!

And holy cow! Look at sweet newborn Landon! Swoon!

:thumbsup2 Yes pls this has been on my list since your last TR and I have been searching for a pic! TIA

Only 9 days until your trip! I look forward to reading your Trip Report when you get back! And then you have a MNSSHP trip in October too! That's on my list of things to do with AP's, someday. Halloween, Christmas, and Flower and Garden Festival. Since we usually go in January, there aren't many flowers at that time, and sometimes the grass isn't even green due to cold weather! The pictures I've seen are so beautiful!
