Let's plan Together! Jan 2009

Hi I just joined The dis. I'm planning a trip for Sept 2009. This will be our second family trip, but first with grandson. There will be seven of us, husband, daughter #1 son in law, daughter #2 , son in law, grandson and me. Looking fo help with planning.

I'm excited to be planning for January! My baby will be turning one, so it will be fun to celebrate that on our trip!
I just can't decide whether or not we should book room-only with AAA or a package w/dining. I keep going back and forth.
We're coming up on the time-frame for booking ADRs quickly!

I just went ahead a booked my and my sons flight to Orlando. The price was good, so I just did it.
We will be going Jan 6th- 14th!! Now I'm really excited!!

We booked through AAA at Pop Century from the 8th-15th. The rates they quoted us are kind of scary :scared1: LoL, I know it will end up being MUCH cheaper, but still... :duck:

We only have the room only with AAA right now, then we will add on dining.

Thinking of going the 13-20th with 3 adults 1 child. Can we book the pop? Also I forgot ( I know it has not even been a year- My memory is awful!) when do the rates come out? When did the codes come out? We have a Disney Visa, but i dont think my hubby gets a paper bill, so are there codes for that?

You can book a room only ressie now for January (the rule is as long as your check-in date is within 500 days of booking date). You have to call disney directly thou, or go thru your TA. They will require 1 night deposit (based on the 2008 PEAK rate for your choosen resort-which they'll later adjust when the actual 2009 rates are announced).
The actual package rates come out sometime this summer - then you can change it over to a package if you want to.

Just make all the ADRs you think you'll want, and if you decide you want to add the Dining Plan later, then you can. It won't affect your ADRs. Also, you can cancel un-needed ADRs later on if necessary.

We're planning a Florida trip for our anniversary, Jan 4-7 in Key West followed by Jan 7-11 at Disney. Right now we have booked a Lagoon View Concierge room at the Polynesian. I'm hoping for some sort of discount because the price I was quoted (2008 Peak Season, it will be Value Season when we go) took my breath away!

We (me, DH, DD(4), DD(2), and my parents) are going January 13-19! We have 2 rooms booked at the Poly already, and just bought our airfare, as well. :yay:

Here's my dilemma... I have AAA, and I also have a Disney Visa. I am currently booked room-only. Ultimately, I would like a package with dining. Should I, when rates come out for 2009:

1. immediately call Disney to apply the AAA discount to the room, or
2. call AAA and get a package put together

Because I hold a Disney Visa, I am hoping for a room discount/ticket upgrade through them. Based on my last experience with AAA, where I knew more about the packages than my AAA agent, I am a little concerned that if I book a package with them, and then Disney Visa comes out with a good code, my AAA agent won't be able to apply it. Or, in the alternative, if I apply the AAA discount to the room with Disney, will I be able to put a package together so that I can get the DDP?

TIA!

Shannon

We bought our airline tickets last week so we are definitely going. Me DH< DD< DSIL< DGS 8 and a new DGS due in Sept. Staying at POP but waiting to book that. We need 2 rooms and will probably do DDP.

I was just uncomfortable with my Resort booking, too $$$$, so I switched to Boardwalk Villas. We're going to use the extra money to get the Deluxe Dining Plan, Yippee!

Still waiting to go on our family trip in July, but I've already talked my DBF into a January trip. :cool1: :cool1:

Now I can keep planning!

This is kind of an FYI for everyone going the second week of January. I just booked roundtrip airfare from Kansas City to Orlando for only $211 through Delta for Dep: Jan 4 Ret Jan 13. Then I found out that if I had looked a little more closely I could have gotten $159 roundtrip by leaving the 6th instead. I like my dates though, so I'm fine with the extra $100.

Just thought I'd let everybody know... in case somebody was thinking about flying and not sure if they should book now or wait. I was going to hold out for a while, and possibly use frequent flyer miles instead, but that deal was too good to pass up! Now I just hope my plans don't change eeek!

We too adjusted our dates to extend our stay to see how it affected cost of flights. The savings on the flight by flying on less heavy traffic days allows us to save and do the deluxe dining as well. DH called yesterday to extend our stay, and the CM told him the deluxe is on for 2009!!!! Woo Hoo, we need the extra day to eat!!!!

Hey Folks!

Planning our Second Trip to the world for January 27th - February 7th! (I know, this is a LONG trip!) My family of 5 + me is super excited!

Just wondering though, does anyone know if there are regular promotions going on during the January area of the calendar? I saw they do a Free DDP during September and I wondered if that is also available in January? Or if something else is done?

Thanks!

~Ally

We'll be down (six of us) Jan 2 - Jan 9 at the POP! It's going to be a "first trip" for two of my party's members, so this should be super fun!

Until next time,
John

I found a good deal on airfare so I went ahead and bought our tix. Guess we have to go now! January 24 -31st. This will be our second trip (me,DH, and DD3). Now we just have to wait for the rates and possible PIN Code or discounts!!!! Still have not picked a resort yet.

Free Dining is usually only a September thing. However, traditionally there have been package discounts in January. Last year the discount was Free Park Hopper, Water Parks & More Upgrade with a small room discount. (I think people were reporting about 15%, I may be wrong). The PH, WP&More is almost a $100 value/person if you plan on utilizing those extras.

Hi,
We are thinking about going in January as well. Sounds like a great time to go! Do any of you remember any past discounts or promotions that have been offered for this time of the year? We've always gone in September, so I'm new to this.

Thanks!
