How necessary is it to do ADR months in advance for "normal" restaurants like Sci-Fi, Liberty Tree, Ohana, etc. in January? When we went in August, we were usually able to book them the day before or so. Does this hold after the holidays, too?

We're booked at BWV January 17-24. I'll probably book a night somewhere for January 16 and we'll drive down as soon as DD gets out of school that day.

I was planning on making my ADRs this week, however, I read somewhere on the Dis that they are changing the 180 days in advance to 90 days. I'm still going to call, to make sure though. We'll only be needing a few since we'll have a kitchen and won't be doing the DDP.

I am waiting for AAA rates to book for Jan 5-10 before our cruise. Not sure where I am booking yet, but we had such a great time at the Pop last year, I think we might just stay there again. I am also leaning towards POFQ or CBR - not sure yet!

I booked a room only at POFQ for the end of Jan. But, when the package rates come out, I will do the MYW with the DDP. I am not sure if we will stick to POFQ, or change to AKL. I have to wait for the rates. Either way, I can't wait to go back!!!!!

I see you are going to be in disney the same time that we are & before a cruise. Are you by any chance on the disney cruise from Jan. 10-17 ? we are @ OKW from 1-7-1-10 & then doing the disney Western Caribean Cruise.from the 10-17.

Yes! We are on the 10-17 western as well! Our first Disney Cruise and I am so excited! Have you been on the cruise meet thread? We have a fish extender going on post #56!

We finally figured out our dates and are headed down Jan 21, thru the 28, thus missing the MLK crowds/rates, and any potential superbowl crowds! Whoo Hooo! This will be the 1st time my parents have been there, and it will be me, DH, DS(5), DS(2) and the two of them in their 60's... should be alot of fun. We are going to book at the Poly. Now if they would just hurry up and release their rates and hours, I could really begin planning!

This morning was my 180 days out, so I booked some ADRs, particularly for Victoria & Albert's. So excited. My d thinks I'm nuts! (Of course, I am, but that's a different issue! )

We booked room only for CSR, Jan. 8-14. We're coming in to do our second Half Marathon. I'm waiting for AAA codes, last year I was able to change my reservation from POFQ to POR and saved $120, since POFQ did not have AAA rooms when I called. I'm hoping CSR will have them, but if not we'll probably stay put. We are very excited about trying this resort!

My 180 days starts July 13th, so I'm getting my ADR wishes together. We don't buy tickets until the day we want to go -- this allows dh to think we're being spontaneous, even if I already have the EMH plans in place!

Snykymom - how was the ADR process? did you get what you wanted?
So many rumours are flying about the 180 day mark and that certain restuarants are switching their character measl (LTT and Garden Grill).
Curious if you had any insight, I call on the 16th and was hoping they will take my ressies as they told me to call that day to book them!

The ADR will it/won't it change thing is giving me nightmares.

I've been staring at July 29 on my calendar for five months already for my January 21 arrival date. If it starts BEFORE August 1, I'm going to have a coronary.

I agree, i was upset by the rumour because the CM on the phone when I booked and reserved our room told us specifically the date we could call. I personally think a good business should honour those dates, and switch to the 90 Day ADR for all future reservations.

I think we may be able to convince them. (good vibes)

I am hearing alot about rumoured changes for 2009, which is not "fair"! I hear the "it's not year of a million dreams anymore, so we are changing.... <fill in change here>"

My ADR was no problem at all. They're still apparently on the 180 days. I have to call tomorrow to make another reservation, though - d added a restaurant - so I'll keep you all posted. (Oh, and we are not looking for any character meals. Didn't try LTT or Garden Grill.)

Air Fare has been booked!
We got a great deal from Jet Blue- BUT now I am nervous because someone said they can cancel the rates on us? It happened to them using a different airline...Ugh- The insanity!

Today was our 180 days and we made all of our ADRs- so excited!
Of course, I will probably end up tweaking them, but we got all the ones we wanted.

Well, I'm joining you all here! We're traveling January 8. I'm still not 100% certain when we'll leave...still trying to figure out finances, etc. And a travel agent told me the prices for January likely won't be released until mid-August so they can't book a package. But you all have reservation? Should I make them now? I'm watching the 180 days out and can call for our first night on the 11th.

I'm confused!

In any event, we're super excited! I've only been to Disney once with my high school band in 1991, and I was addicted then! I can't wait to take the kids and see the magic through their eyes! My mom is coming along, and possibly my sister. Should be a blast!

Peach, we have room only reservations. You can make them into a package when the rates some out. They charge you the maximum rate for one night to hold the reservation.
