Hang in there, Ms. Accounting. :goodvibes I understand - I am swamped with stuff that needs to get done before my vacation starts next Thursday. There just aren't enough hours in the day to get it all done!!

We only got about 6 inches, I think. School never should have been entirely cancelled. I think the Superintendent and company panicked.

I promise I'll be better later about posting. Right now is nuts!

Have a good day, all.

We have had "snow days" where the roads are reasonably clear and then non-snow days when it took 2.5 hours to get the kids the 5 miles to the high school. The snow days are determined very early in the morning and thus can be unpredictable. Ever since a couple of years ago when we had a major snowstorm and 5 snowdays in a row(all made up in June:sad1: )the district has been a little more careful about the use of snowdays. We will now get a 1 to 3 hour delay, depending on the severity of the storm. The state says the kids have to go to school 180 days, it doesn't say how long those days need to be:rolleyes1

I am trying to take the 2 week break off with the kids. Since we are not going anywhere and I live 5 miles from the office, I may have to come in "occassionally" during that time to cover payroll if my boss stays in the Bay Area looking after grandkids while her Son and DIL pack up old house and move into new house.

okay, gotta run...............have a great day
Horseshowmom:   wanna borrow my brass knuckles:rolleyes1:goodvibes

I know, I know I am behind again! Super busy, I am the accounting dept., the end of the year is approaching:scared1: , we manufacture and that means the I word, yes, ladies the very ugly, never done right, I always have to re-instruct the purchasing & control depts. I word.
I=Inventory!!!

Inventory is always so much fun! ;)

He ran for the position right? Was there a published salary?

In our state, we have both elected and appointed superintendents (depends on the county - we have an elected one). While there are some guidelines from the state, school boards do have some discretion when determining salaries. I am beyond astonished that he would think he could walk in and make what somebody with 30 years experience had (almost 20 of it as Supt.).

He has never taught a day in this state (has been a principal in Memphis City Schools).

Hummmm, sounds fishy to me......have you Googled him or has anyone checked his "references"?

Yes, DH printed off the info concerning the school that this man is principal of. More than 1/3 of the students were considered basic (lowest level) in Math. Keep in mind that almost none of the students at DH's school were basic (in fact, I'm not sure any were at all - I know that none were in his grade).

If the former supt. had not done quite a few things that were morally and ethically questionable (talk about middle age crazy :sad2: ), he would have never been defeated. Unfortunately, the man who SHOULD be Supt. wouldn't run against the current one, because the Supt. hired him initially, and he felt like he owed him. This guy is wonderful. He brings all races of the community together (black, white, hispanic, asian) and works for the good of the children.

Oh dear, what an idiot - time for the "non-vocals" to rally the troops and prove this idiot wrong.

It's very sad, but we're going to have to make sure that the school board meetings have lots of people there other than his supporters, because they were there to intimidate the board - no doubt about it. I'm afraid it will work. These people have to walk to their cars and go home. :sad2:

I am so sorry, this situation seems really bad. However, experience has taught me that while people like this "shine" in the short term, it doesn't take them long to fall out of favor. One can only fix non-existent problems for so long.
Is this idiot a local or did he kinda come out of nowhere?

He is technically a local. He grew up in our county and graduated from school here. His mother taught here for many years and retired last year (not a particularly good teacher). He's only worked in the Memphis school district. When you deal with him, he presents himself as an educated, professional, goal-oriented young man - very impressive. What I saw Monday night was someone who was very devisive and attemping to use intimidation by packing the room (probably 150 seats). :rolleyes1

I think you're right as far as long term. I'm positive that he'll have one 4 year term and that's it (but it could be a long 4 years).

What will you and DH do if you both quit, are there other districts in your area?

We can teach in adjoining counties. When I was in the classroom, my standardized test scores were always very high, and I was very good with discipline (particularly the students who gave everybody else trouble). DH's
4th grade scores this year were actually higher than the 5th grades. His principal has asked me to teach math for her, but who knows what this guy's policy will be on transferring to another position (we don't have tenure in this state).

If I move to the elementary school, we're going to give it a year and then go elsewhere if it doesn't work out (teaching school, you're pretty much tied into a year). DH is Nat'l Board certified, has high scores, and is a male elem. teacher. He would almost be hired on sight! :rotfl2: Maybe they'll take me to get him! ;)

I've been in meetings (along with other Central Office staff) all day yesterday and then this morning with the efficiency team. It went fine, but I'm tired and somewhat amused. Why do all of this and then get rid of most everybody? :rotfl2:

I know things will work out. It's just pretty frustrating here before Christmas. I may take off part of next week. I've got lots of sick days coming.:thumbsup2

How much snow did you get?
We still have ours from last week,

We only got about 6 inches, I think.

Sandy, you and Melissa enjoy the snow for me!

Good Morning Ladies:

I know that everyones week is going to get really busy.........

Sandy will be tanning, eliptically'ing and packing getting ready for her week in the sun. Have a great time and I have my fingers crossed that all the winter weather does not affect your travel plans.

Horseshowmom is busy planning the demise of the new Supt. Don't let it get you down. June is a long ways off and you know that no matter what happens it is part of God's plan for you.

I am cleaning off my desk for my vacation along with trying to get the caramel corn made at home. Bought the supplies, maybe, just maybe it will get made.

Pam, hopefully is enjoying a peaceful holiday season.

I wanted to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. I wish safe travels where ever you may go to you and your families.

I will try and keep an eye on the board but once I am on vacation I really try not to turn on the computer at home.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year:grouphug: :grouphug:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, Melissa!!!

I am still tanning, dieting, and ellipticalling. We go to Denver on Thursday night to spend the night near DIA as our plane leaves at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. It looks like the snowstorms aren't supposed to arrive until AFTER we leave, so that's a good thing!!

I did lose 10 pounds for the trip, so I am thrilled with that!! I've got quite a bit more than that to go, but hey, it's a start.

Go make that caramel corn - sounds so yummy!!

Enjoy your vacation!!

Horseshowmom and Pam, please have a wonderful holiday season as well. I will try and check in one more time before I go!!

Take care, all!!!

Let me add my Christmas wishes to what you've said!

Things have been really wild around here, and I'm trying very hard not to stress over the situation.

On a cheerful note, DD and BF became engaged over the weekend. He took her to Beale Street in Memphis to Blues Alley for dinner (which she said was wonderful). Then they went for a ride on one of the horse drawn carriages (which is where he "proposed"). When they got home, he had the most beautiful arrangement that I've ever seen of a dozen roses waiting for her on our table (he had enlisted my help in getting them out of hiding and putting them on the table after he picked her up). We're very pleased, and the ring is beautiful. The center stone is princess cut and flanked by two triangle shaped diamonds (I know you don't call them triangles, but I can't remember what you do call them! :rotfl2: ), and the band has diamonds inset on it. It really is gorgeous.

I hope everybody has a wonderful holiday (I'm jealous of that cruising AND the lost 10 lbs!). Merry Chistmas and a Happy New Year! :santa:

Congratulations to the happy couple on the engagement!! And to you and your DH on gaining a very nice son-in-law.

These 10 pounds have been just awful to get off, Horseshowmom. The scale literally went up two pounds, then down one, then up three pounds, then down one, etc. I was gaining more than I was losing!! Finally, at the end of last week, things finally started moving the right way on the scale. I guess persistence (and maniaical ellipticalling!) finally does pay off!!

You have a wonderful Christmas and New Year's with your family. Again - I will try and check in later this week!!

Goosebumps! Congratulations, sounds like BF or should we now say MF (Mr. Fiance') did a great job. Horsedrawn carriage, awwwwwwwwww

Congrats on that 10#'s Sandy, glad I could take on that burden for you:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks, ladies! :goodvibes

Sandy, I'm planning on forcing myself onto our elliptical after the holidays!

Melissa, I guess you're right, I'm going to have to get used to fiance'! :rotfl2:

Nothing like being almost 48, dealing with the pre-menopausal crap, and having the metabolism of a sloth . . .

The story of my life!!! Hopefully you didn't gain my 10 pounds - I'd rather give them to someone I didn't like!! :lmao:

Nothing like being almost 48, dealing with the pre-menopausal crap, and having the metabolism of a sloth ...

This is me except I AM 48. My metabolism is as low as it can be and still technically be considered normal (lucky me ;) ).

And now I may be unemployed too... :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Just kidding, everything's going to be all right (one way or the other)! :thumbsup2

:lmao: if I haven't gained them yet, I am probably well on my way, but I am sure I got them from someone else! Tomorrow is appetizer day, Thursday is a full blown luncheon, oh and I almost forgot drinks and snacks with a friend tonight. Good thing this is the one time of year when my huge baggy Christmas Kitty sweatshirt is acceptable attire!
Speaking of menopause......................Last week I came home and went into the den where DS and GF were hanging out. I commented on how hot it was (heck I had been outside where it was about 25 of course the house was hot), they both looked at me funny, you know that "oh no, Mom's losing it" look that all teenagers have.;)
I checked the thermostat it was HOT in there. I looked at both of them and said "well, thank goodness, I thought I had just entered full blown menopause in a matter of moments, what a relief" she giggled he looked horrified and I just chuckled my way down the hall to turn down the heat.........

Awww, poor teenagers with mothers who are not afraid to embarrass them!

Yes it will be all right!!! Nothing but good Karma around here . . .

If you don't embarrass your kids at least once a week, you're not doing your job as a parent!!

Man, it looks like there are lots of "grazing" opportunities in North Nevada! Enjoy them all, Melissa - you have EARNED them!!! :thumbsup2

Yes it will be all right!!! Nothing but good Karma around here . . .
Karma, sharma we need to go visit and just take the guy out!
I watch CSI;) I could figure something out, Sandy can defend us if needed and Chachi can somehow be an alibi!

Well you'd better send me some $$$ for a retainer, so that attorney-client privilege kicks in so I don't have to be bound by some lawyerly-ethics stuff about being sworn to uphold the law!!! ;)

That is tooo funny! :rotfl2: I watch stuff like City Confidential, Notoroius, etc. DH and DD always joke that they're getting nervous about going to sleep and that if anybody ever comes up dead, it will probably be me but nobody will ever be able to prove it because I'm doing so much research. :rolleyes1 With good help, I would be even better at it! :thumbsup2 (Chachi will be happy to provide himself as something for the victim to "trip" over. He doesn't like it when anybody messes with his mama! :lmao: )

Sandy, enjoy your cruise, because you may have a big case before long! :rolleyes1 ;)

Time to go home. Last week, I worked until 7 p.m. one night and 8:40 p.m. another night (trying to take care of my own work and get stuff for the efficiency team). I think I can leave 10 minutes early today! :thumbsup2

Bye, ladies! :goodvibes

Those are the kinds of shows I watch as well, and I also watch CSI:Miami and the Las Vegas CSI. So I'm really over the top when it comes to crime stuff!!

Have a good evening!!
