I guess I should have asked if this was significantly different than how you vacation at WDW. . So. . .is it?

::yes:: It's different. It's a shorter trip for us, we drive from Utah vs flying to Orlando. While we are there we are immersed in Disney but it's smaller, more quaint, and for sure less hurried. WDW can be overwhelming where Disneyland/DCA are not. :thumbsup2 There are only 3 places I can think of where you need an ADR: Napa Rose, Blue Bayou, and Carnation Cafe for breakfast. We have literally walked up and got in regardless of the time of year. Food is not as major of a focus at Disneyland nor is it a marketing tool. :cloud9: Their DTD is less expansive but has equally cool stores. :teeth: It's in the middle of a city but is not a city like WDW.

Our minimum stay @ DL is 8 nights. We are staying for 10 nights in May 2010 :cool1:
We go to the beach a couple of days as well as Knotts Berry Farm. We LOVE being able to spend days at the resort and parks without being rushed. Cannot WAIT!!!

My plan is for one 5 night stay in a VGC studio once every 3 years. I'll be doing this by booking 11 months out by bank-use-borrowing from my 50 point contract there. I plan to try this for the first time arriving on Saturday, Oct. 16th, 2010... (We plan to go to WDW at least once per calendar year as well and DW is limiting me to a max of two Disney trips per calendar year at the moment - we only have so much vacation time, only 210 points, aren't rich, + have some non-Disney trips we want to take)

3 nights for our next stay. Three to four nights is sufficient for DL.

We do a few 3-4 night trips to GC each year as it's only a short flight to get there.

For WDW we're usually 7-10 nights every couple of years as we coming from the West Coast.

We are booked for 3 days this October. We try to go every Oct., since the kids are out of school one week every Oct. We enjoy the Halloween decor and my DH loves to go at tis time.

I plan on cooking one nice dinner in the room and one quick an fast dinner the night we have tickets for MTOTP. Since we take least 8 to 10 times one day trips to Disneyland a year, the need to go into the park is not that urgent for us. When I stay at the GCH, I stay for the hotel experience. The last time we stayed at the GCH (May 09), we never went into the parks. We had a great time, relaxing at the poolside. I think our stays at the VGC will be about the same.

We're booked for 4 nights at VGC 2bdrm this Dec - decided to just go straight south first to Carlsbad 3 nights then come up Anaheim - we've been GCH since 2001 usually 3-4 nights - except when family came from Vancouver- we stayed for 6 nights - last year we went Thanksgiving didn't even go to the parks - just enjoy the stay at GCH - escape from the kitchen and had Thanksgiving dinner at Ralph Brennan's

As for WDW last time we went 2006 we stayed 8nites - going from Westcoast adjust to time and stress of flying during peak summer season+ the high price of airfare - might as well stay longer and relax take our time enjoy DVC resort hopping ;)

Now with the new VGC - most definitely huge breakfast in room - more convenient - check-in day will check out the villas and prepare dinner first night - at most 2 dinners for this trip - no lunch
and of course dinning out on the 25th

My DL trips are usually 5 nights. Coming from Pittsburgh, the first and last day are mostly travel so I really only have 4 full days. At WDW, I usually do 6 nights and have almost a full day on the last day, flying home in the evening.
