Leaving shows

Last year while my BFF and I rode space mountain with fp, my mom decided to try carousel of progress (she doesn't do big thrill rides) she was texting me like mad that she was tricked and didn't know when she'd be off. It's become a running joke now that any of us get "tricked." We went to epcot shortly after for an awesome late lunch and maybe 1 too many Washington apples!

DO they know who Ellen, Jamie lee curtis, or Bill Nye are?

I have no real clue who any of those people are... I think the last one was in an episode of Big Bang Theory, and he seemed to be a source of humour, but we really had no clue who he was. Guess he hasn't hopped the pond!

Yes to Ellen and Bill Nye. But even before they did, they enjoyed it. I homeschool so I have no idea if they show it in schools. Our library had a VHS with Bill Nye that they liked. (Though he's now on Discovery Education online). They enjoyed the humor even without knowing the people.

Of course.

Knowing "who" a given actor is, is not necessary to enjoying or understanding any film.

Do kids know who Frank Oz is?

The fact that Jaimie Lee Curtis portrays "Stupid Judy" is just a funny little bonus for adults over 40 yrs. old, or so.

As others mentioned, you can't leave Ellen's Energy Adventure or Carousel of Progress.
You will need yo contact a CM if you need to leave Festival of the Lion King - because the stage is in the middle and performers are all over, a CM needs to accompany you to direct you safely out.

For all indoor theaters, guests come in on one side of the row and exit on the other. So, if you think you might want to leave before the end, go as far down the row as possible as you are entering the theater. That will put you closest to the exit door.
There will almost always be a CM on the exit side during the show to help people find their way out.

I've had to leave Mickey's Philharmagic and Finding Nemo for a freaking out little girl. So definitely doable.

Personally, I don't think I've ever stayed awake for a full showing of Ellen's Energy Adventure. Really refreshes me!

)

For Ellen's energy adventure (if i remember correctly) the last time we went during the CM's introduction they mode a point of saying that it was a 45 minute attraction and that there are no bathroom breaks (because you're riding in a moving tram)

If you stand up and try to exit the Ellen ride, it shuts the ride down and everyone has to walk out. Happened to my sister - a lady with a small child stood up and crawled over the side of the vehicle - it immediately shut down and the lights came on. They had to walk out.

I can't imagine suggesting that anyone who doesn't know a story or an actor not go on a ride, see a show, etc. Kids who played at the " Honey I shrank the kids" area in DHS and some of the younger parents may know nothing about that either or Figment.

How many people walk through the entrance day after day after day and have no clue who the man holding Mickey's hand in front of the castle is.

Maybe they shouldn't even go to Walt Disney World then :sad2:

And Carousel of Progress ... Please don't try to leave that one! It causes all kinds of problems!

I've done this. our daughter HAD to go to the bathroom. I opened the door while it was turning to the next scene. It comes to a complete halt and CMs are at the exit door in seconds. Once I told them what was up they said to just go.

Actually, you CAN leave in the middle of Carousel of Progress if you have to, however it does mean that it throws the whole thing out and the audience then usually have to sit through another round of whichever scene they were in when said person left.

I have been unfortunate enough to be there twice when that has happened.

Well learn many things every day. I would have never guessed that COP would have a way out. Glad that never happened though when I have been in there.
It's one of my favorites. Tough break wilma-bride, twice :faint:

It isn't really a way out for convenience sake. They are emergency exit doors and are only suppose to be used in an emergency. They are not meant to be used because you are late for your ADR or FP or are bored.

The CMs were probably being really nice when the guy took his kid out for a potty break. You really aren't suppose to use the doors while the cars are in motion. One reason is you could trip and hurt yourself as the ride vehicle moves and it causes an e stop of the system.

People leaving CoP is so bad that in the busier months it is hard to get through one cycle with out repeating. They should really switch their spiel to be like Ellen's and mention how long it is and that you can not leave during that time.

Ellen
Finding Nemo, the Musical
Festival of the Lion King
Beauty and the Beast LIVE
Fantasmic!
Indiana Jones Stunt
Lights! Motors! ACTION! Stunt
The American Adventure
Hall of Presidents
Flights of Wonder
Journey of the Little Mermaid
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

I would also add Kilimanjaro Safari at AK to this list.. I believe the ride is under normal circumstances only 20 -25 minutes.. BUT you might get lucky and have it turn into a 40 minute ride, as it happened once with us..

If any animals are in the way,, road crossing, and some just like to stand there and NOT move, the jeeps stop and wait and wait and wait...

Highly recommend a potty break before hand for this one.

They should. If it's your first time on it and you know nothing about it, you wouldn't even know that it rotates, it just looks like a little theatre when you walk in, so why would you think you couldn't sneak out.

Yes, you're right the spiel should be changed. I have over heard too many people to count over the years that are sitting in there and they don't realize how long it takes to go from one decade to another ::yes::

I'm assuming Ellen's is at least worth it if you need a break though? I want to try it but the 45 minute commitment freaks me out a little!

It freaks me out too! I finally worked up the nerve to try it last trip. We made it to the first screen, about 10 minutes in, and the lights came on and we had to leave. Technical difficulties. I don't think God wants me to go on this ride! :lmao:

I'd agree! Same thing happened to us too - giraffes in the road! You can also end up waiting a while in line, even if you have a fast pass.

On Ellen's Energy Adventure, once the ride starts and the vehicles start to move, you CANNOT leave. The entire ride has to be shut down, evacuated, and reset if you try.

If you know that you will be unable to sit on the ride for 45 minutes, then it's suggested you skip it. Warnings are given. English and Spanish.

Ellen was empty when we went last year, maybe 30 people tops when we went. We had one of those huge rows to ourselves. I was so tired, I laid down using my purse as a pillow and took a nap!

More often than not in the past five years, the center sections of seats in Ellen's Energy Adventure have been blocked off whenever I visited. And the two side sections are sparsely filled.

As for 45 minutes, that's not the actual ride time, is it? I think it must include the pre-show in the lobby as well.

I've been on Ellen when a family has stood up and left. Complete shut down and we all had to exit. The attraction didn't get back up ad running for quite some time, so all the families on that attraction were extremely inconvenienced. Same thing happened when my in-laws and my dad and stepmother on on it.

For most inside shows, yes, you can leave. For Ellen,, please do not.

If you do think you want/need to leave an indoor show, please wait to get into your row until the row is full or, be one of the first to enter to you are the first on the other side. Actually, you can do that for outdoor shows as well. Then it's quick and easy and the other guests can enjoy what is remaining of the show.
