Least Fave EVER!!!

I'd never stay offsite. I thought we were the only people who didn't ike the GF. My husband says it looks like a funeral parlor! We live near Nashville and it reminds us of Opryland Hotel. Not for us. :rolleyes1

We love the MK area and can't get fired up for the EPCOT resorts. We walked the Boardwalk , did the DVC pitch, but didn't feel as DIsney as we do when we can see/smell the MK~!
It's interesting to read all the different opinions; it's a great thing Disney has so many different themed and priced resorts!

Are you kiddin? To be able to go to WDW I would stay in a drawer!

I guess my least fav is the Poly ... BTW the Comtemporary is one of my favorite places to stay - and those newly redone rooms make me want to go back again!

Oh - p.s. - I LOVE the elf pic!

The Contemporary holds no appeal to me. I also don't think I'd be that nuts about the AKL, but I think my kids would dig it.

I haven't STAYED at all these places, but I've visited them... and I think that my least favs (or ones I'm not sure I'd stay at... unless it was a great rate or something then maybe LOL)

contemporary- just doesn't seem "disney" to me. Can't really explain it.

AKL- I love animals but knowing our luck we wouldn't be in a room with a view of the animals anyway and we can VISIT -while staying at another resort- to see the animals anyway. My main beef with this resort is the lighting- I can't take the darkness... I have to have LIGHT. I realize the darkness appeals to some people- just not me. I also can't stand like staying at other places on other vacations in rooms that have poor lighting. Just can't handle it for some reason. LOL

ASMo... we won't stay there again. Once was enough for us- although we love the values for what they are and how much they cost... ASMo was just too crowded and the bus situation is not cool. We'd rather stay at sports (and ASMu when I'm on a solo trip so the theming isn't an issue at all for the kids, since they wouldn't be with me!) because the bus situation is so much better... first on, first off... less chance of the bus arriving already full while you're in a huge line! (that's how it was at ASMo- last on the buses, last off. And we went in June- and never once saw seperate buses for the various value resorts.. didn't see seperate ones in Sept either- so I gather that only happens during their VERY busiest times) And that was just at the resort... at the parks it's usually a LONG line for the all star resorts- which is okay when you're first off (All star sports) but stinks when you're last (ASMo). In our opinion ofcourse.

I don't think we'll ever stay at POR either-- for one thing we're a family of 5 so we'd have to get 2 rooms or pray we get a room with a trundle bed (and even that option won't work as the children get older). If we're going to pay for two rooms- we might as well either get 2 rooms at a value resort OR go to a deluxe that will fit us all. But mostly it's because it's so spread out- and we're not interested in a long trek to get to/from our room.

For that same reason- CSR is okay to visit... wouldn't want to stay there! I know our luck- we'd be in the FURTHEST room from the front desk/pool/etc. LOL

Definitely none of the values. DH and I stayed at ASSp and it was horrid. You could hear every sound our neighbors on both sides made along with everyone that was outside.

Wow, call us lucky, but we just stayed at ASMo in October, and never had a problem with noise, service, or cleanliness. In 10 nights, I never heard a peep from the rooms on either side, or below. Most days, we had the Mighty Ducks pool to ourselves, and never experienced noisy kids anywhere. We only used the bus twice, and on the way to MK, there were only 10 of us aboard. As far as decor, they are decorated with Disney characters, which appeals to my kids, and that is the reason we are there. For all of the time we spent in our room, I didn't need an extra 100 square feet to sleep.
I did the DVC tour, and may consider this option, but only because after 6 years of trips, it pays for itself. The standard single room at Saratoga wasn't a whole lot bigger than our room at ASMo, but I guess it doesn't have the value stigma. This year, we are trying a moderate, but I wouldn't hesitate to return to an AllStar Resort.

Poly - people really raved about it on these boards so I booked it 2 years ago. It was dark, dank, shower and toilet broken when we checked in, too long of a walk from our bldg. to pool and shops, and last but not least, I believe it's extremely overpriced and I think I paid close to 289.00 per night at that time. I can book a real Hawaiin hotel, in Hawaii, for 100.00 less than that per night.

In fact, the higher end deluxes such as GF, BC, YC are way overpriced from my perspective and that factors in to what I can consider favorite.

Not sure if I'd like the values a lot but wouldn't not stay in them as the price is right. I don't mind paying a bit more however so go for the mods or lower end Deluxes (loved AKL, would probably like WL as well).

I liked POFQ though transportation back from MGM was abyssmal, but would definitely stay there again knowing what to expect.

I loved the Contemporary, got a great AP rate 2 years ago and the rooms are bright and airy, and good sized. When the price is right, I'd stay there and don't require Tower view for all that extra cost.

Just got a great AP rate for the FW cabins so will know more about those after April.

For me, least fave is judged on value for my dollars. Paying 300.00 or more per night for a resort room at WDW seems borderline absurd no matter how nice the resort is. I do travel frequently, and have stayed in wonderful hotels throughout the world and truly believe many of the WDW resorts don't necessarily offer value relative to dollars spent.

Any hotel off site! I would never turn down a chance to stay at any of the Disney hotels, I love everything about it. I just have no interest in staying off site whatsoever.

I agree 100 percent. My family and I have stayed off site twice and will never do it again. We have since stayed at the POLY and POFQ and love them both and looking forward to trying others. Looking at AKL this December.

I always recommend to others going down there to STAY ON SITE. With too many reasons to list here and now. Choose one in your price range and you won't regret it.

The Contemporary! Stayed there one of our trips during Halloween. Never again, it was not worth the extra money over CSR. Bus service was terrible and the food court was heat lamp food.

Someday I will give the BC a try. That resort appeals to me. Maybe AKL too.

I have a few places I don't think would interest us mainly based on theme. I don't think I would like CBR, not a distinctive theme and too large for me. ASSports, live with DH so I get enough sports!! YC/BC/BW, if I wanted to stay in the Epcot area resorts it would be the Swan/Dolphin because of the rate! Also YC/BC/BW's themes are not great enough to pay the extra for over the S/D.

Any Value... for all the reasons mentioned above - the primary one being the transportation. The main reason I like staying at Disney resorts is I don't have to drive anywhere! I found the transportation at the Values to be SO hot and crowded I'd rather just drive (adding another expense of renting a car) I am a fanatic when it comes to not drinking & driving - I REALLY enjoy my beer in Germany:drinking1 - I will not drive back to my room if I've had even one - If I'm going to have to drive I'd rather just stay in a more spacious resort off property.

I also would only stay at POR or CBR if I had a "preffered" location. Just too spread out for me.

Give me my Boardwalk View at BWV's.... to me that is paradise :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, yes. I just had this view a couple of weeks ago, and it was fabulous! :woohoo:

Least favorite - offsite. As a kid we didn't have a choice - it was Holiday Inn Westgate! Who was I to know any difference? Ahh... but now I do!! Contemporary is hilarious but you can't beat the view from the top floor 1st thing in the morning - and it is an original - the one I always wanted to stay in as a kid :cloud9: Don't remember the darkness of AKL being a problem. Loved WL but during Christmas everything is wonderful. First stay at GF Thanksgiving 2006 - (land/sea) getting slightly concerned from some of the comments. :confused3

Back to the original question - anywhere offsite! ;)

LIsaTex -

We stayed at the GF after Thanksgiving 2005 and loved it. I did not feel ANY snooty vibes, nor anything but great service. It was beautiful and IMO, the prettiest resort at Christmas - do not be concerned - only excited!!

I probably would not stay at AKL - the animal theme and distance from everything do not appeal to me.

Wow! I can't believe how many people don't like the values! We've stayed there many times and never had a problem (knock on wood). Then again, we have little noisy kiddos, so maybe we're just used to the noise. :rotfl2: We picked ASSports for the reason of transportation- I can't remember going to more than 2 of the 3 resorts on the way to the park (usually just go straight to the parks) and coming home, it's the first drop off. I thought the lines for POP looked worse (for leaving the parks). We also stayed at AKL, on a great rate. It was nice, but at the end of the day, it's a hotel- a bed to sleep in, place to shower and get ready for the next day.

For us, I guess I can't justify spending the extra $$ on the room- sure there are little niceites that you get at mods/deluxe that aren't available at the values, but it isn't *that* big of a deal to us. We can afford to stay at other resorts, but always come back to the All Stars. :)

Oh, I'll NEVER stay at the Double Tree Castle- that was a weird hotel with a bad expeirence attached! :rolleyes2

Thanks! I have wanted to stay there forever! Was going to wait for my honeymoon, but GF was what came with out land/sea cruise. Was starting to get a little sad. I've been happy with all our resort stays in the past though. Maybe I just don't notice the small stuff. :)

Thanks for the positive post :thumbsup2

My least favorite would be anything offsite... did it once, and never again.

My favorites are Polynesian, Yacht/Beach, Swan, and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I would probably not do the Grand Floridian again... I just didn't feel the magic there and was wishing I was back at the Polynesian the whole time.

Oh my gosh, GF is my FAVORITE WDW resort, and one of my all time favorite resorts in the world--along with the Princeville and the Hyatt on Kauai, the Ritz and Westin on Maui and the two Four Seasons' resorts on Lanai. The GF has that same luxurious, relaxing, vacation-is-heaven feeling. I know some others have had some bad experiences there (and there are those that hate the Princeville on Kauai on tripadvisor, which I just love to death)--personally, I've had better service on some GF trips than others, but nothing ever that I'd consider bad (knock on wood!). But in any case, if a recommendation is what you need, I'd give it a ten plus :woohoo:

The Grand Floridian made me dizzy. The wallpaper was awful!! The Poly's room smelled old. I wasn't impressed with it at all.

As for the Comp they are redoing those rooms and they look GREAT!! Kind of an Asian flair about it.

This is one of the new rooms in the Comtempory.

I'm curious about the GF, but I'm afraid that I would miss the Poly if I stayed at GF. I know that I would have a great stay at the Poly and not so sure if I would fall in love with the GF.
