Laughter, Tears & Screams- Two Aussies in WDW! New - 6/10 - The End!!

I'm so far behind! I loved the Key West installment--I haven't been since I was a teenager but it's one place I definitely want to visit again.

Conan is very brave to drive on the wrong side of the road. When we visit England, DH's family thinks it is hilarious that I refuse to even ride in the front seat of the car. It totally freaks me out. I have to hide in the back seat and not look out the front window. And don't even get me started on the roundabouts. :rotfl:

And, hooray! You're at WDW! I hope you loved the Wilderness Lodge. It's such a beautiful hotel. Oh, and you poor soul with your sunburn. It's one thing to hear that someone got a bad sunburn but I had to wince when I saw your poor legs! :scared1:

Can't wait to read more!

Ouch! Just looking at your legs hurts! I think I would have been crying with that bad of a burn. Glad you were able to trudge onward though. Looks like you guys had a very fun start to your day at MK. :)

I'm loving your report so far!

1) Your Wedding dress was absolutely beautiful!

2) If I ever convince myself to venture down to NYC, I'm totally checking out S'Mac, OMG! Heaven!

3) One of my life's dreams is to drive A1A in a red convertable. I think I just added to that...do it so I can catch sunrise!

OMG - you guys are too cute! I am really enjoying your TR and I loved your Seven week TR - so addicting to read :surfweb:

Awesome pics of the Wilderness Lodge it looks beautiful. Can't wait to see whats next!

Saw your yummy food pictures on the food porn thread and wondered over. I'm all caught up! Your trip to NYC looked amazing! I want to go there someday! Your Wilderness Lodge pictures are awesome! Can't wait to hear more!

Yay! You're in Disney! I am going to check out your food report right now! I had my wisdom teeth out and I haven't really been eating, so that will be a good thread to check out.

:cool1: I'm enjoying your report so far, you've taken some wonderful trips, I've always dreamed of going on a Hawaiian cruise.

Can't wait to read more, thanks for sharing.:surfweb:

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that photographs the floor mats at Disney! :lmao: Hope your room view was as nice as the CM said it would be (I'm sure it was). We love WL too...very cozy and you feel so at home there.

The floor mats are so cute though! Hehee! Our room view really was fanastic... but I'll tell you more about that later!! ;)

yes, we are staying at the wilderness lodge when we go back next time. we're renting DVC points and staying at the villas. i can't wait! only 1 year and 9 months to go! :rotfl:
great pictures of WL. i didn't know you hadn't been there before. isn't it so pretty?! i hope you took the boat to/from MK at some point - it's such a pretty area where the boat docks. and arrival at MK is the BEST!

Ooh, I'm glad you're staying at WL! I don't think you've stayed there before? I'm sure you'll love it! So cosy and homey!
And oh-oh.... we took the boat from WL lots of times to the Contemporary, but never to the Magic Kingdom!! I'm not really sure why - we definitely should have! Bummer!

Hi Amy, glad you've caught up!
How funny that you won't sit in the front seat in the UK! It must look like you're being chauffered around everywhere! Heee! Roundabouts are fun!!
We definitely loved the Wilderness Lodge. It was lovely! And oh dear, I'm so embarrassed about my red legs!! Yeowch!!

(Hey everybody, you should totally go and read NMAmy's trip report too! She's in the middle of writing hers too, and she's a fab writer! It's lots of fun with some great photos! :thumbsup2)

Ouch! Just looking at your legs hurts! I think I would have been crying with that bad of a burn. Glad you were able to trudge onward though. Looks like you guys had a very fun start to your day at MK. :)

Ooooh, my silly red legs!! I didn't cry, but I was embarrassed!! They were just really, really hot! I wore tights under my skirt at one stage and I felt like my legs were going to spontaneously combust from the heat! :lmao:

Hey, welcome!! Thanks so much for all your nice comments!
You'll definitely have to check out S'Mac, it was great!!
I like your idea of driving in a red convertible on the A1! Hee! Fun! We contemplated renting a convertible, but it just wasn't very practical to put all our luggage in! Maybe another time! :goodvibes

OMG - you guys are too cute! I am really enjoying your TR and I loved your Seven week TR - so addicting to read :surfweb:

Hey! You definitely should go on that Hawaiian cruise some day, it was a fantastic experience! Thanks for your nice comments!! :)

More trip report coming up soon everybody!! I just need to go and watch The Office, and then I'll be back! :thumbsup2

So after a fun afternoon at Magic Kingdom, we were starting to get pretty hungry! It had been a while since we last ate - luckily we had made an early dinner ADR at The Plaza 6 months beforehand!

We were still in Adventureland, so we headed back towards Main Street and checked in at The Plaza. I won't go into major detail about our meal there, but if you want to read about it further, check out my dining report in my signature. We both had burgers and milkshakes, and really enjoyed our meal! It was a nice, easy way to start off our dining extravaganza!!

My delicious mint choc-chip milkshake and Conan's chocolate milkshake...

We both ordered the same burger... Yum!

After our dinner, it was still only around 6pm. Wishes wasn't on until 8pm that night, and although we were pretty tired, we really wanted to wait around to see Wishes. Well, I did anyway!! And Conan's a nice husband so he agreed to play for a bit longer and wait. Yahoo! We headed slowly towards Frontierland and grabbed Fastpasses for Big Thunder, then criss-crossed back and walked straight into Mickey's Philharmagic! :thumbsup2

IMG_8826.jpg

We just love Philharmagic! It's just so Disney-ish! The songs are great and the whole thing is just so much fun!

Next, it was Haunted Mansion time! I love the Haunted Mansion! Conan doesn't. He says it's "lame", but really I think it scares him. :rolleyes1

Our Fastpass times were ready for Big Thunder, so we headed back there, but were sad to discover the ride was down! Booooo! We trouped on though, and decided to do It's a Small World instead. Only a 5 minute wait, so why not!?

IMG_8832.jpg

Conan looking thrilled...

IMG_8838.jpg

Not one of our very favourite rides, but cute nonetheless!! :confused3

By this stage, it was around 7.30, so we headed back towards Main Street to find a spot for Wishes. We saw a bit of the end of the SpectroMagic parade, which looked pretty, but parades aren't really our thing I'm afraid. We've actually never seen a full parade at Disney World! Is that bad!?

When Spectro finished, we found a spot in the middle of Main Street and stood there!! Whew, is that difficult to do with a massive crowd evacuating and a zillion other people trying to mark their spot for Wishes too. Eeeek! We managed to stay there though, and had a great view of Wishes!

Don't you just love Wishes!? Awww! It's just so awesome!! I ended up buying the soundtrack while we were there - I love it!

Here's my brilliant photo of Tink flying through the air! :lmao:

IMG_8851.jpg

And all our wishes wiiiiilllll come truuuuuuuue! :rolleyes1

IMG_8863.jpg

IMG_8867.jpg

We well and truly felt like we were finally in Disney World after that! :cloud9:

And so began the long voyage back to the buses!! It wasn't really too bad since we were already on Main Street - not too far to walk with the masses of people!

Here's Main Street on our way out, all lit up and looking pretty!

IMG_8849.jpg

We were lucky and hopped on a bus nearly straight away. Yay!! Back home to the Wilderness Lodge we go! Normally after leaving the Magic Kingdom I feel a bit sad, but not this night. We had our whole Disney vacation in front of us, PLUS we were about to find out our room allocation! Eeeeek!! Fingers crossed!

Our room ended up being even more fantastic than I'd hoped!! It was exactly as the CM that afternoon had told us - we were on the 5th level, pretty much in the centre of the "bear face" part of the WL, with a beautiful courtyard view! AND a king bed!! Room 5075! Woohoooooo!!! :yay:

Here's some photos of our beautiful and spacious room. First up, our massive big bed (and Conan looking sleepy in the chair!)...

IMG_8869.jpg

Amazing carved bedhead...

IMG_8872.jpg

The big TV to watch lots of Stacey...

IMG_8874.jpg

Pretty mirror!

IMG_8873.jpg

The spacious double sink! (We so need this in our house!)

IMG_8870.jpg

And the bathroom...

IMG_8871.jpg

We loved our room!! I'll post photos of our courtyard view in the next post - it was still dark at this stage!

The only thing we didn't love about our room was the water. There's no other way to say it, so I'll just say it. It stank. And it tasted even worse! Like it had come straight from a stinky river. Ewww! We both made sure not to swallow any! Instead, we had lots of bottled water and water from the Roaring Fork drink fountains. It wasn't just us who noticed the smelly water either - we spoke to a guy in the elevator once, and he said the only bad thing about the WL was that the water tasted like pure sulfur. Hehhehee. Gross.

Anyway, smelly water aside, we were amazingly happy with our room upgrade! We showered, watched some Stacey, chatted about our next day, and headed to bed in our whoppin' big bed! It had been a great first day!! :)

Up next... Hollywood Studios, here we come!!! popcorn::

It took me so long to finish reading and catching up on your TR! The Keys look B-E-A-UUUtful!!!! I'm glad that you had a safe drive to Orlando.
The water at the WL sounds like the water at MK! I can't even drink it out of the fountains anymore. We ate at the castle in 2004 and I could taste it in the pop!! GROSS I can't wait to see the view of the courtyard from your room.

Bummer!

nope, never stayed there. but it's my favorite resort for sure! the only resorts i haven't seen with my own eyes are all the moderates (not on purpose - just a coincidence) and the all star value resorts and so far WL is my favorite!

and i just meant that you should take the boat to see the docking area around WL. so you got to see what i was referring to! i'd forgotten that there's a boat to the CR too. no worries! :thumbsup2

We saw a bit of the end of the SpectroMagic parade, which looked pretty, but parades aren't really our thing I'm afraid. We've actually never seen a full parade at Disney World! Is that bad!?

i love spectro! i'm not a big parade person either but spectro is just cool. i've seen the MK afternoon parade once and the AK afternoon parade once and that's enough for me. i do enjoy the block party bash and spectro though so i try to catch those when i go.

Here's my brilliant photo of Tink flying through the air! :lmao:

IMG_8851.jpg

i think everyone's tink pictures turn out this way!

Gross.

we noticed this in december and not just about WL but about all the water at disney world. it just smelled bad! i thought that may be why i wasn't feeling so good because i always order water whenever i eat anywhere so i started drinking my bottled water instead at the restaurants!

What a great trip report! I'm grabbing my milkshake and I'm ready to read more!

Another great installment!! I'm definitely making a ressie for the Plaza for when we go in July!

I read your other report! Great start to this one. LOVE all the pictures. You guys are so cute.

Hello! I know I am going to enjoy this report. We are the same age! First, how lucky are you to get to do a 7 week U.S. trip! I would have SO much fun planning that!!!! Also, I love Hawaii. You seem like my kind of gal! Can't wait to read it all!!!! :thumbsup2

Oooh. Now I just found your first report. I am hooked! I love to travel and wish I could do as much as you. Got any saving up tips you can share?

Seriously...are you actually ME on another continent?

We have never seen a full parade either...except for Spectro...it's the only one we're actually interested in. We used to love the old electrical parade so this brings back some great memories for us.

I haven't been on the Trippie Board in a while but I came over tonight and found you! I am so glad I did!

First off, you know how to travel! LOL! It must make sense to do extended trips with the distance you must come. How exciting to be gone for weeks and weeks and see so many places! I love that you shared the first part of your trip too. NYC is amazing. I haven't been there for NYE but you seem to have done it the right way with the party. I would never want to be out in the streets ALL day long! Ugh, not at that time of year (freezing!).

Love love love your castle pick where it has the rainbow lights on it and the fireworks, just beautiful!

Looking forward to more! You two are an adorable couple!

Allyson
