DD came up from Charlotte yesterday for the day. Remember I posted that her car had been hit a couple of weeks ago. (It was the first night she was in her new apartment and someone hit her car in the parking lot.) This is the first time that DH and I had seen the car. She had told us how bad it was and we just knew that she was exagerating. Well, guess what - she wasn't exagerating!!! OMG! I cannot believe the damage from a parking lot accident. She wasn't even in the car, it was parked. But she has a little Nissan and it was hit by a Toyota Tundra. The officer that came out to do the report told her it was her fault because she was not in a lined parking space. She was parked along a curb because all of the parking spaces were full. The entire curb was full of cars and there was plenty of room to go around them. Well, she's been back and forth with his insurance company and yesterday they called and said that "it has been determined that their client was at fault!" :cool1: :cool1: She has an appointment for an estimate next Thursday.

Now that I'm all caught up on what's been going on around here I guess I'll share what's been going on here.

Yesterday we had a meeting with the attorney that has been appointed A.J.'s Guardian ad Litem. It was very emotional for me. She spoke to A.J. for about 20 minutes. After our meeting she said that she would be petitioning the court in our favor next Tuesday to have A.J. declared incompetent and petitioning that we be made his guardians. It is so hard for me right now. (Even now, when I started typing this I started crying.) We've spent the last 17-1/2 years teaching him, and helping him and telling him to never say "can't" and that he can do anything he sets his mind to. And now we have to go to court and ask that he be ruled incompetent. It's just such a hard word for me to handle!

The attorney did say that A.J. does not need to go to the hearing with us Tuesday. She said that they would be using that word a lot and he just doesn't need to hear all of that!!

Hopefully, though, Tuesday it will be all over and we can get on with life!

Kathy you have to remember that you are doing what is best for A.J. And it is just a word. :grouphug:

It is a word only used one day for one reason. To take care of AJ. Because he is not incompetent! And you know that. I am glad that he will not have to be there to hear it. But don't beat yourself up.

Just a word that means nothing other than being able to do the right thing for your son.

WOW Kathy-such a lot to deal with-I too am glad that he doesn't have to go to the hearing!!! And remember what Kelli said-it's just a word-and words can never hurt you-if you don't let them :grouphug:

Great News for your DD!!! :Pinkbounc That has got to make her feel so good-And justice has been served!!!! She wasn't even in the car for crying out loud-what was that Officer's deal-so glad to hear it's all turned out good :thumbsup2

Update on DGF

Thursday night
I talked to my mom DGF was sleeping they had given him Morphine for the pain from the Heart attack he was having but were pretty much letting nature take it's course He knew who He was when he woke up but was confused as to everything else

Yesterday Morning
since I had to work and DH was off he decided he would drive down to see DGF so at least one of us was there DGF and him have always been close
DH's grandfather the only one he knew died when he was 7 so after 18 years in my family DGF is HIS grandfather too
DH hasn't really been to see anyone in a hospital since his Dad died well anyone that was Really sick so he walked in kinda feeling unsure
as he rounded the corner my DGF sat up and said WILL"S HERE :) HI WILL BEEN HUNTING LATELY"
Imagine DH's surprise to be greated so happly by someone he expected to be
really out of it
so DH spent almost 5 hours there
other vistiers cameand went

LAst night
DH and I decided that even though DGF looked pretty Good yesteday
it didn't really change the medical diagnosis so we took the girls down
figured they could see him while he was still looking OK
BIG MISTAKE
from 2:30 when DH left to 6 when we got there
DH said he looked a ton worse
he was confused and sad
but he did brighten up seeing the girls and they brought him a picture of birds for his wall cause he loves bird watching

It was just hard on them
but i think in the long run they will be glad they saw him
we only stayed about 15 minutes
and most likely will not be taking the girls back
although DH and i will go Monday if he is still with us

He is in the Hospice wing now and they are setting all that up
they offer counciling for the Grandkids
and i think I may take the girls

they have always been so incredialby close and
this is gonna be hard for them

I know it is killing me
but I am trying to hold it together for them and Mom and
Dad (since himand his FIL have always been best friends)
and my DH since losing his Dad 3 years ago death has really been hard for hm

About the only time I let down in Here
thanks for that my Friends
