He was upset that I was enforcing our rules/policies and after I went above and beyond to explain and help him with ways to comply, he tried to explain to me about the local politicians he knows

asked me several times when I was planning to retire (I am 30

...by then the guy would be in his 80s)..and then finally he sort of joking, but not, said don't step in front of his car...hint hint....this is how my coworker looked when she heard him --->
I documented it and told my boss. DH said I should have filed a complaint, but he seemed to be just bitter and more bark than bite. About a month or two ago someone else in my office was threatened by an angry man that told her he should blow up our office...they ended up filing police report on him...I also know we have had a retraining orders placed on at least two people in the past...so what's new right
