We're in such a mountainous area that it doesn't take a whole lot for them to cancel school. That and there are so many remote areas around here that they can't possibly get them all to school!

I forgot where you were..... sorry.

But I do love the drive through that part of the US.... but DH has to do the driving (I freak out on the mountians going down with those big trucks next to me!!!!)

I guess that makes the kids happy -- do they work it in the schedule or do the kids have a lot of make up days at the end of the year???

It's rough here sometimes, though, 'cause the whole county follows the same snow day schedule. If they call off school because of snow for one of the schools they have to call it off for the whole county. Often times we'll be out of school and no snow at all here! Our county is very large, area-wise, so the weather varies a lot!

They do build in snow days into the calendar. This year there are 12 snow days but we're almost out of snow days already!

YIKES!!! that would add days in the nice weather!!! yucky!!! One year when we had a bad winter (they only build in one week) we used up too many days, and the canceled Spring break, and we went 5 days over!!! (because I'm a teacher that really was stinky!!!)

Our school calendar usually has us getting out around Memorial day but that never works. We've gone as late as June 15th before!
