Hi, we had planned to go to a water park on our last day, after checking in a Downtown Disney.

I've just read on another page, that they didn't think that was a good idea before flying home??:confused3

I thought it would tire DS4 out without going to a main park???

What do you normally do on your final day?? (In the past we've just spent it at DTD, but as its our first trip with children, I think DS4 will get bored there all day)

thanks alot!!:goodvibes

Hiya
We always, always check in and then spend the last day at Magic Kingdom, It is up to you but i wouldn't want to carry wet stuff on the plane and back to england, i would say a good walk round a park would tire out your daughter just as much, we like to go to MK as it seems like a good place to say goodbye til next time, :sad2:

The last day we were there, we spent the morning at Wolfgang Pucks for breakfast, and then we went to EPCOT and just had a wander around, the DTD checkin was not operational last time we went, so we went to a Disney Park, with the car fully loaded with gear !

I know its stupid, but at 35 years of age I was so sad to be going home!

We check our luggage in at DTD have some breakfast then we go to Seaworld.:thumbsup2

The first time we went, we checked in at DTD and then spent most of the day at Blizzard Beach. We hired towels so after showering and changing we just rung out our swimming costumers and put them in two carrier bags.

Last year we checked in at DTD, took the monorail to the MK, had croissants and hot chocolate at Main Street Bakery, did some rides and favourite shows, hand lunch, watched the castle stage show whilst eating funnel cake, did some shopping, took the train around the park in a complete loop and then left for the airport.

It was a completely perfect last day and we will repeat the experience next time we go but stay longer at MK as we left earlier than we needed to I think.

When we went in May last year our last day was a saturday and we checked in at DTD and went to MK - never again! It was Mothers day weekend out there and saturday to the MK was the busiest ever! It was nice to "say goodbye" but it was too busy. If they could have had their choice the girls would have stayed at the Sheraton as the Heffalump movie was on!!!!

When we went in October our last day was a wednesday - we had a nice relaxed last breakkie at the villa, returned the keys, checked in at DTD and spent the day shopping in Virgin, lunching and having fun in DQ - the girls really liked it. There was enough there to occupy them for half a day.

It is Tradition for us to check in at DTD then breakfast wherever we fancy on the day, then MGM or Hollywood Studios as it is now known! then lunch at IHOP before sadly heading off to the airport for our long flight home :(

We always get rid of our cases and then hang around DTD, last year we were going to go to TL but didnt bother in the end, I wish we had tho as it felt like a waste of the last day. This year we will go TL, I think it will be a nice relaxing way to spend the day, we will take the hotel towels and then put them in the towel return bin so we dont have to carry them back with us.

Last June, we did DTD check in and then off to Animal Kingdom had a good couple of hours there, let the girls choose what they wanted to do and then we reluctantly left, from there we head for Bahama Breeze for a late lunch early dinner :thumbsup2 , and then a sad trip to the airport :sad1:

For the last few years we have checked in at DTD then gone to Seaworld. Seaworld is probably the nearest attraction to the Airport so you can leave at the last minute. If you get a 1 Day pass and go earlier in the Holiday you have been able to get a free day for the last few years.

We did a Departure Day Breakfast:thumbsup2 at the Grand Floridian our cases were taken to DTD, followed by check-in at DTD, then a movie at DTD and then a spell at Disney Quest then lunch at McD's. Then we had a stroll around the shops then jumped on the bus to the airport. As we had done the earlier check-in we went straight through the security lines and passport control to the gates to board the plane home. A great way to spend our last day and we'll do it again next time too.

We do very little, to be honest by now we are usually tired.
Check in at DTD back to the villa for a couple of hours and then we usually have some time at the Florida Mall before the drive to the airport.

It's a long last day and to be honest a theme park is the last place we want to be.

I think it's an advantage to be tired before being confined to a plane for 9 hours.

As our main reason for visiting Florida is WDW we like to go to MGM (our favourite park) and have a table service meal.

oh gosh - more choices!!! (I usually don't plan the last day as I never like to think about it!!! - makes me feel kind of sick just talking about it - lol:lmao: )

I think we will probably stick to the water park (especially if the only downside is carrying a couple of wet costumes;) ) - plus I think if I went back to MK for my last day, I'd probably spend the day in tears or DH would have to carry me out kicking and screaming (not a pretty sight!!):rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My DH and I usually check in our cases at DTD and spend the day in Disney Quest and then have lunch/early dinner before getting a taxi to the airport, but I see you got a bus.

What bus did you get, is their a bus that goes direct from DTD to the MCO airport?

We just swim in the resort pool our last morning, nice and relaxing.

If you're going to a water park make sure to take/use the hotel towels with you then you can just leave them there and only have a couple of wet swimsuits to deal with :thumbsup2

BTW we never bother with the DTD checkin and always just checkin at MCO with normally not much of a wait, it saves having to go and wait at DTD early that morning and you losing valuable water park time:thumbsup2

thanks for that!!:goodvibes

Just wondered - we are hoping to get the bulk head seats (have requested a sky cot and I know it depends partly on whether there are some less abled travellers on our flight as I know they get priority - but am wondering whether I should get to DTD check-in for when it opens, just to make sure I'm at least ahead of all the other people like us with babies??) - don't really understand how the seat allocation works to be honest!!:confused3 :thumbsup2

Depends on the time of the flight. Last year's flight was tea time (but turned out to be 5 hours later). We had a fantastic last day doing Islands and Universal after checking in at Downtown Disney. We were aware of the delay so made the most of it.

Other years the flight has been at about 1 pm so we have just headed straight to the airport (Sanford). One year we played Disney mini golf which was lovely.

We try not to waste any minutes whilst over there and try and squeeze in as much as possible. We can rest as long as we want when we get back.:)
