Has anybody had this done? I'm considering it for some dark hairs on my chin and upper lip area. I did electrolysis about 15 years ago and found it to be incredibly painful! I quit before seeing any real results because of the pain. I've been told that the laser method is merely uncomfortable and not painful. I'd love to hear some personal experiences with this treatment for unwanted hair.

BEST money ever spent.....really!!

Ditto.

It hurts a lot less than the electrolysis. To be honest, it hurts even less than waxing. My underarms are my next step. Totally worth the money spent.

I am interested in this as well. How is it done? What is the approximate cost?

It worked great on my upper lip, but I haven't had as much success with my chin. Those just keep coming back, darker and more plentiful than ever. :sad1: Treatments were $150 each and included both my lip and chin each time. I went to a dermatologist's office, so that may have made it more. I probably had 5-6 treatments.

Wish I could afford this. My skin is so sensitive to everything. Would be great to not have to worry about it anymore.

I would love love love to do this. Maybe I should make that my new years resolutions: save money for laser hair removal.

Oh no, it didn't work on your chin? That's my main area of concern. Has anybody else had treatment on the chin and had this problem? I don't want to shell out the money if the worst area isn't affected.

I had it done on my underarms and bikini line/area. It was $1400 and I got 5 treatments in one year (8+ weeks apart) and 2 touch-up appintments in the following year. I am ecstatic with the results! I wasn't overwhelmingly hairy or anything, but it has been a huge relief. I have no need to shave whatsoever in either area. However, I will say...as the treatment progressed, it was incredibly painful!! I have a very high pain tolerance -- which is no lie! They even pointed it out because I did not use anything for the first 3-4 treatments. But, without the prescrip strength numbing cream (which had to be applied in the office one hour prior to treatment), I never would have made it through the last treatments!

It's all worth it though!!

Mine didn't work either. I had it on chin and upper lip. It burned off the hair but it always grew back and I did it at a dermatologist's and paid so so much over two years. Then I had electrolysis (and they can turn down the zing if you ask them) and it worked and for about 20% of the price I paid (overall) for laser.

If laser doesn't work for you, maybe try a different electrolysis person and ask them to lower the voltage. FYI there are also different types of electrolysis: galvanic, thermolysis, and blend. I had the blend. Maybe one hurts more than the other?

good luck.

Also, I had the numbing cream but only for bikini area. It REALLY helped as that area did hurt for electrolysis w/out the cream.

I had it done, but not on my face. It was very painful, but I have to say, worth it. It's been a couple of years and my hair has grown back, so I need to get some follow-up treatments. I was considering my face, too---I usually wax. Was wondering if my sensitive skin could handle it so I am looking forward to reading other responses.

I wish I could say I had stellar results with my laser hair removal but I did not. I have dark hair on my upper lip, chin and neck. I paid $3000 for mine and it lasted about a year and now it's all come back and then some. Biggest waste of my money ever. And I have very fair skin which I was told was perfect since the fairer you are the better it supposedly works.

I might try electrolysis next.

Recently saw a new procedure on the Dr. Oz show. I've been meaning to check the show website to reference the name of the new procedure. They used numbing cream on the volunteer/victim, but she said it was pretty painless.

Expensive, but the dermatologist said after 4 or 5 treatments the hair is gone forever.

I believe Dr. Oz had a laser called GentleLASE. You can google it.

My daughter and I had awesome results from laser hair removal. She is only a teen now, but she will thank me when she gets to be an adult that she never has to shave her underarms again!!
