Has anyone used the new monorail system? How is it and how much does it cost? I read that some of you had recently gone to Las Vegas, so that is the reason why I am asking this here-we are going in May. Are there any new attractions to see?

Well that certainly is something I didnt' know about! Thanks for the link Dan. I hope this means that the trams between Bellagio and Monte Carlo and stuff are still free....

Actually the tram between Bellagio and Monte Carlo is currently closed due to construction at the Bellagio.

LOL Thanks :) That is news to me too. I wontbe going back for at least 6 months... any idea what they are doing at he Bellagio?

Thanks for the link, Dan! I hope this opens in time for my trip in mid-March. I need a way to get my dad to go to dinner at the Aladdin from our hotel (Luxor) and we can't take our truck because our racing trailer will be attached. I was hoping the monorail would help! Taxis are scary. :scared1:

preshi - They are building a new tower at the Bellagio, right where the tram used to be located. They aren't sure if they are going to be re-building it.

Magix - the monorail doesn't stop at the Luxor or the Aladdin. The closest stop would be the MGM Grand to the Luxor and Paris/Bally to the Aladdin. With all the walking you'd have to do inside each of those to get to the monorail (it's located at the back of the properties) it probably would be shorter to walk from the Luxor.

Thanks, but I saw that the nearest stop was MGM. It's still easier to walk through the casino (or head in through the back) than to walk the distance down the strip. More comfortable, anyway. And probably warmer than outdoors in March.

The MGM's casino is the largest in Vegas and it takes approx 15 minutes from the strip entrance to walk through the casino and then down their "mall" of shops to get to the monorail. From the corner of Trop and the Strip (where MGM is located) it's a 15 minute walk up the strip to Aladdin. It's also approx 15 minutes to the Aladdin from the Bally/Paris stop. The weather in March is actually very pleasant in Vegas. Usually high 70's during the day and lower 50's at night. We just return a couple of weeks ago, and it is a truly pleasant walk up the strip to the Aladdin.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the place. Still, I'd rather take the monorail. Just for fun, if nothing else. In the end, I'll probably end up with a cab, though.
