We're going to Las Vegas for a week in June. The flights and hotel are taken care of.

We're looking for suggestion of things to do/see. The only plans right now is a visit to the Grand Canyon. We're not sure if we'll rent a car or take a bus tour.

We will be staying at Caesar's Palace for 5 nights and either Tropicana or M Resort for 2 nights.

We were just there last week for three nights, two full days. We didn't venture out of Las Vegas with so little time to see what was there. I would probably rent a car because if you take a tour bus, you're on someone else's schedule and I prefer to do things at my own pace.

Like I said, we weren't there long, but we did a few things besides walk along the Strip and gawk at the huge buildings. We're not gamblers or drinkers, so we were mainly there just to see it and do a show or two.

- We went to see Mat Franco's magic show (in the Linq). It was really terrific. We got tickets at the Tix4Tonight booth, and were pretty close to the back, choosing the middle price-point tickets they had available. It would probably be worth it to book in advance, pay a little more, and sit closer to the front. I still think we had a great experience, as it's not a huge theater, but it would have been nice to see things a little closer. They use cameras so that everyone can see the tricks, but I would have enjoyed a little better view, I think.

- We went to Madame Toussaud's wax museum. I used MyVegas points to get one free admission, so it was $30 for two of us. It was pretty fun, but I probably wouldn't have paid full price.

- We went to the Mob Museum in the Downtown area. Again, I used MyVegas points to get free parking there next to the museum. I'm glad I did - the parking lot was monitored and the attendant was super helpful. The museum was pretty interesting - they've definitely accumulated a lot of neat artifacts and pictures.

- After we left the Mob Museum (5:00-ish), the parking attendant let us leave our car there and we walked 3 blocks down to Fremont Street. We just walked along the street, but we weren't interested in any of the casinos there. We did wait to watch the first light show of the night on the screen that canopies Fremont Street. That was pretty cool, and I would watch that again. We left after that to go get some dinner.

- Of course, you have to watch the fountains in front of the Bellagio. We actually stayed there and had a view of the fountains from our room, but it was fun to watch them from street-level as well.

- We enjoyed browsing through the shops along the Strip, like the M&M Shop, Coke World, and Hershey's store.

A few places we ate that were nearby and really good: Gordon Ramsay's Fish & Chips was between the Linq and the Tropicana and it was very reasonable. $15 for 3 pieces of fish, a pile of fries and a soft drink. A little more expensive was Guy Fieri's Burgers & Fries, which was in the Linq. We went for a late lunch and didn't have to wait to be seated. We had breakfast one morning down near Planet Hollywood's resort at PBR something --- my husband had a huge breakfast sandwich and I had a waffle and bacon. (It was right by the Earl of Sandwich, which we didn't have a chance to get to.) Oh, after the magic show, I went by the Ghirardelli shop and got my ice cream fix. It was down near the High Roller.

Hope this helps!

Local here!

Are you looking to venture off the strip? You'll want to rent a car if you do. You'll be fine if you're looking to mostly stay on the strip. Caesars Palace is now charging daily for parking, so keep that in mind. Traffic is pretty much non-existent here as well except for rush hour which isn't even that bad.

Since there's so much to do here, what kinds of things do you have in mind? I've seen and done mostly everything here, so ask away.

Go to Las Vegas .com to look up shows running. There is hot tix booth right on Las Vegas blvd in front of polo towers. Also it is an easy ride to Brice and Zion national parks in Utah or lake Powell in northern Arizona.

Go to serendipity for frozen hot chocolate, Belliago always has a great Art Exihbit, the Fountains, the Conservatory & Garden are beautiful. Volcano at Mirage.

Beatles Love

Coke store

I feel you have young children you might avoid Fremont street

Since you want to go to the Grand Canyon, it's a 5 hour car ride to the South Rim and a little less to the North Rim. To do that in a day would be exhausting, just with the drive. There are day trips to the "West Rim" from Vegas, but just do your research on the West Rim as it is different than the South Rim.

We did a similar trip a few years ago, but drove to the South Rim for 2 nights and then back to Vegas for 2 nights. We did a little gambling, saw Absinthe and the Penn and Teller show, went to Downtown Vegas, ate at some great places, and enjoyed the pool.

I was going to suggest helecoptering to th Grand Canyon because it is a farther drive than I expected and that's an experience in itself but you have long trip in Vegas so that prob isn't necessary. I would say rent a car and plan a night nearby the Grand Canyon so you can really expience it.

We liked Red Rock Canyon. Zip Lining on Freemont Street looks like fun. We absolutely love the alive show. I enjoyed seeing the dolphins and tigers at the Mirage. Favorite restaurant are Carnigie Deli in Mirage, Batista's Hole on the Wall. We also ate at the Belagio restaurant that overlooks the fountains which was pricey but worth it to enjoy the water show. Can't remember the name of that one. I'm not sure if it is still there but in MGM they used to preview upcoming television shows and survey your opinion.

On my next trip I want to go to the Pawn Stars shop. I hear it's nothing but I still want to go. Also I saw a show highlighting a neon sign museum in Vegas that looked interesting to me.

We were just there in December. We rented a car from our hotel, The Luxor, and drove to eat breakfast at Hash Hash a go go. Oh my gosh! So good! Then drove to the Lake Meade lookout point, Hoover Dam... took the Dam Tour and walked across the Pat Tillman bridge. We then stopped in Boulder city for a snack and drove to the other side of Vegas to Red Rock Canyon State Park. We hiked a little, checked out the Visitor Center and enjoyed the gorgeous views. This was my 5th trip to Vegas and first sightseeing outside of the strip. It was the perfect "day trip". We had considered driving to the Grand Canyon but I had seen mixed reviews on the ?Rim (whichever is the closest to Vegas)not being worth the drive. So, we decided to save the Grand Canyon for a trip on its on. We also saw Michael Jackson's ONE by Cirque, it was absolutely amazing! Probably my favorite show ever in Vegas.

Adults? Kids? Red rock canyon is a must. Go early as it gets extremely hot. Drive around lake mead. Which place are you seeing the Grand Canyon? The Native American reservation that has the skywalk is highly overrated. We found it to be a waste of money, and it sucked more money out of us than the slots. Ethel Ms is pretty fun with the cactus garden. Of course, all the hotels are great to visit and there is something to see in all of them.

Bellagio is very cool to walk through also the venitian.

Red rock canyon is good too

I agree that Hoover Dam is a must see. I also enjoyed the Atomic Testing Museum. The Grand Canyon should be a trip all on its own, not a side trip from Vegas.

Only been to Vegas once. I highly recommend a Hoover Dam tour. It is a very impressive facility and at least for me harkened back to a time when we did big things as a country.

Penn and Teller was a decent show and they were cool with the fans post show, however if you have seen their act on TV you have probably caught most of what they present.

For Buffets the one at Caesar's (Bacchanal) is top notch albeit pricey.

Walking the strip and different Casinos is fun for a day.

We also saw Elton John for his house show which I think is still running. Great production and props.

Neon Museum was a blast when we did a night tour, very good guide. Mob Museum was good as well. We hire a care as we like to venture away from the strip and explore

Red Rock Canyon and the Hoover Dam would be the top of my list also.
We drove to the Valley of Fire park-that was neat. It's a bit further away than the Canyon/Hoover Dam.

I concur with the other posters that instead of moving to another Vegas hotel for 2 days, stay closer to the Grand Canyon. We did a long weekend in Phoenix and decided to day trip to the Canyon-it was a big mistake as we needed more time. Phoenix is 3 1/2 hours away as opposed to Vegas at 5 hours.

For Vegas itself, you could spend days just exploring each hotel property. There is the show inside the mall at Caesar's, the fountains at the Bellagio, the canal at the Venetian. We ate at the Hash House at the Linq and it was fantastic. Same with Guy Fieri's at the same hotel.

As for shows, we saw Celine Dion(pricey). We also saw Rascal Flatts during their residency at the Hard Rock. We're heading back in November for the Rock and Roll Marathon and have not decided what shows to do next.

So much to do, we love the area.

We did a week in Vegas in September and had a great time!

We did a guided day tour to the south rim of the Grand Canyon with Grand Adventures tours. It was a long day and a little pricey, but well worth it for a definite bucket list item. Tour guide was great and took us to some wonderful overlook spots and stayed for sunset. It was a small group of 10 people. The tour company picked us up at our hotel and provided breakfast and lunch.

We saw the Penn and Teller show and really enjoyed it. There is a BOGO ad in the Southwest Airlines magazine. Just google it and flip through the magazine online.

Make sure to start playing myVegas slots either thru facebook or thru their app. Just by playing, you win loyalty points that are good for free or BOGO show and buffet tickets. We got BOGO tickets for Beatles Love show and several buffets.

We visited the Pawn Stars shop, Counting Cars and Rick's Restoration via Uber. Much less expensive than the guided tours and we could do it on our own schedule.

One out of the way place we went to was the Golden Tiki. A fun little tiki bar in the Chinatown area with awesome theming.
