Hi we have a trip planned to DL the first part of March. We thought of taking our laptop so that we could download our digital pictures each night. I emailed the hotel we are staying at and they will not put it in a safe. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what you did with your laptop when you were not at your hotel. Thanks!!

I haven't taken my laptop to a Disney hotel yet, but I have taken it with me to various places including NYC, Orlando (just not on property), California, etc. I have never had a problem with just leaving it in my room. If I end up really worried about it I just put it in a drawer so it isn't visible on first check, but I have probably taken my laptop to over 50 hotels and never had a problem with it just being left in the room visible.

HEY! DH & I just spent a week at AKL in WDW and brought our laptop with us and left it all set up right on the table/desk in the room the entire time we were there. Never gave it a thought to putting it in any safes. At least NOT the AKL ones in your room as they are tiny little safes. I have NEVER been to DL so I am not sure of their policies BUT in WDW, this is probably about the 5 time taking a laptop and had NO PROBLEMS. Have taken it to Vegas as well as Colorado/Arizona/NYC/ Disney Cruise/Wonder and have never had a problem. I am sure it will be fine. If you are still concerned try hiding it in your suitcase while you are gone to the PARK!!! Just a thought. :teeth:

We've been to WDW 4 times and have taken our laptop each time. We also leave it set up for the entire trip and have never had a problem.

I stayed at Paradise Pier, as well as the Embassy Suites down the road, and, while I always tend to err on the safe side, I felt completely comfortable just locking my laptop and accessories inside my suitcase. Then I know it's at least locked somewhere but it's not out in the open.

I know it is highly unlikely that a CM or any hotel staff member would take anything at all from a room; however, I worked in hotels for two years, and while cleaning rooms, housekeepers are often doing several rooms on a floor at the same time, and leave the doors propped up on all of them whlle they are just in one room. Techinically, it could be very easy for someone to sneak into any one of those open rooms and grab something while the housekeeper is down the hall.

I always lock everything in the safe or in a suitcase while traveling. Better safe than sorry.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

We have taken our laptop for the same reason to download our pictures and all we did was put it in the suitcase locked up and we have had no problems at all. We have done this at AKL, BC and Poly.

We never had problems with our laptop, but while staying at a suite hotel in San Diego, someone stole my son's wallet. We think it was either the cleaning person, or someone who came into the room while she was in the back of the suite.

We've taken a laptop on our last two trips without a problem. BUT we've always had a security cable with us that we used from time to time.

They do sell locks for laptops, its a steel cable that attaches at the corner, Best Buy or Circuit city would have them.

We also bring our laptop with us each trip and leave it hooked up from the time we check in until we check out. We have never had a problem. Enjoy your trip.

No problems here either. DD left hers set up right on the table in their room and everything was ok!!! :thumbsup2

No Problems here either. We have left it set up at a value, and at the deluxes with no problems!!! :thumbsup2

My BiL just returned from the Luxor hotel in Vegas and had his laptop stolen while the room was being cleaned. He did not get it back. It CAN happen, but it's not that common.

I bought a 1GB memory card. Holds a ton- hundreds and hundreds of pictures and didn't have to worry about downloading. I have my DL trip, Thanksgiving and Christmas, various school events on mine and still have 250 pictures left.

I use a cable lock, you can buy it at Best Buy. An alternative is putting it in your suitcase. Better safe than sorry. Chances are it will be OK left out, but do you want to take that chance?

We have brought out laptop on every trip for the very same reason- to download photos. We have not stayed on disney property, but have just locked it in our suitcase everyday when we went out. That way it was hidden, and locked up. Better safe than sorry! :teeth:

I brought mine to WDW we stayed at ASMo and I left mine out and on with no problems.
If you keep the doors locked no one knows it is there except for the maids and with the key cards they will know which maid was in which room
Also if someone is breaking into rooms they will get it more than likely
Even if you use a lock on it you need it attached to something that is immovable

My laptop is way to big to put in the room safe. I normally leave it hooked up but put it in the draw of the bedside stand. That way it is out of sight.

Haven't lost one yet. I do like the laptop security locks but remember, locks are for the honest. If someone really wants your property, they will get it.

Not DL but we just stayed at the ASMo and left our lap top set up the entire time, no problems.

You know a great part of our day was coming back to our room to see what Mousekeeping had done with our room. They are great.
