Laissez les bon temps Rouler...Feb 2010 2/20 MK Last part of the Night updt 9/70 pg65

Wow, the Resort looks so neat! It really reminds me of the movie "Princess and the Frog" now that I've seen it!

It does look a lot like New Orleans only a lot cleaner and it doesn't stink. We love New Orleans but the French Quarter is dirty and smells. I think the worst time for us was in the summer, after a rain and the trash was out waiting for pickup. The movie and the Resort show how great it could be.

i'm totally on board for this trip report!

my mom is from mandeville, so it's always nice seeing other louisiana families! we love mardi gras & i can't wait to actually be down there for it again next year. i want jake to experience all the parades :goodvibes

your girls are gorgeous! glad to see yall really enjoyed staying at POFQ~!

My boss lives in Mandeville. When we lived in South Carolina it was such a treat to meet someone from here. We were so homesick. He will love the parades and the throws.

Thanks for the compliment on my girls, I'm so proud of them. We did enjoy our stay.

Does anyone else watch Grey's? I do and I'm still reeling from last night's finale. I did even touch the computer last night. They were killing off people almost as fast as Lost.

After checking out the pool area we started searching for the boat launch. It wasn't too far away because nothing is very far away at this lovely resort. There was only one other family in line when we got there. It was a father and son. Although there was an umbrella to provide shade, we stood back in the sun to try and warm up. It was cold and windy especially so close to the water. After about a 10 minute wait we saw this.

Here's a picture of the boat dock area.

While waiting to load two boats docked. I guess the other boat was the one that goes back and forth between the two Port Orleans Resorts.

Here a picture taken as we pulled away.

Taking the boat to DTD was one of the things I was most looking forward to while staying at POFQ and it didn't disappoint. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ride down the Sassagoula River. I got to see parts of Disney I had never seen.

Some lovely shoots taken on our ride.

Approaching the West Side.

I think this was Saratoga Springs.

Some more DTD pictures from the River.

Up Next Shop Until You Drop!

The plan was to shop but not buy until our 5:30 ADR at TRex. We planned to come back Friday night to actually buy.

Once we were off the boat we all headed into Goofy's Candy Company.

We looked around but didn't buy anything.

My next stop was the Christmas Store. I love to look around in here. Every year I buy an ornament to take home for our tree. Dennis and the girls weren't interested so the were going to look around and then meet back up with me at the Tshirt store. We had never seen it but wanted to she what it was all about. I made my way through the Christmas store then headed over to the Tshirt store. They weren't there. I looked around made another loop through the Christmas Store and still didn't see them. I was worried I had taken too long in the Christmas Store and they moved on. I called both Dennis and Michelle's phones but no answer. Finally on the the third trip into the Tshirt store I found them, they were just entering from the Art of Disney Store. They took more time to look in there than I took in the Christmas Store.

Here are the pictures Dennis took while were separated.

When big sister Michelle is mean to little sister Danielle, she refers to her as Evil M. Michelle's alter ego.

Danielle's alter ego.

Our favorite Princess!

They thought Brent would like these.

More Belle!

More shopping to come!

What great pics you took while riding the boat to DTD. My plan in Sept is to take the boat from DTD to POFQ to get some delicious beignets!!! Plus, I'd like to see the resort a little bit. :goodvibes

Great DTD-area pics! For some reason, I never seem to take my camera to DTD. I'll have to make sure to rectify that on the June trip. ;)

We loved the beignets! Danielle could have eaten them every morning for breakfast. Try hitting it at night too. They have a guy playing live music on most nights Wed thru Saturday.

Lots of good photo opportunities in DTD. Lots of shopping stuff to photo too.

Great pics. And now I am craving a muffaletta. I've never tried it with marinara sauce:confused3 I'll have to give it a whirl next time! The resort looks beautiful and the weather looks great, but chilly:) There is nothing like your first few moments at Disney. It takes a while for it all to sink in that you're really there! Can't wait to read more!

PS - the Christmas store is my fav too! I do the same thing and get an ornament on each trip. We have too many now so this last Christmas, I made a seperate Disney tree. I wish I had a pic of it but I guess I never took one:headache: It came out really cute though!

You have to try it with some marinara. Yum!

I would love to have a Disney tree too, but I don't think Dennis would go for two trees.

Take a picture this year!

Great Update! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear about the rest of your night!

More great pics of our resort!!! Thanks so much for posting them!! I also love that boat ride to DTD.... it is one of the main reasons I can't give another Moderate a try! We were so close on the last trip to buying some Disney art. We stayed at the Poly last time and we would walk by a little art store in the lobby everytime we were going to our room and it was very tempting!!!

You're so lucky you still have your trip to look forward to. We checked out the art store at the Poly when we ate at 'Ohana.

After finally meeting up in Design-A-Tee store we looked around there but didn't really see anything we might want to come back for.

Mickey's Pantry next caught our eye. Michelle's boyfriend loves cooking. We looked around in there and Michelle saw a Minnie apron she wanted to get later. I saw a trivet I really wanted too. We breezed through the pin store and turned toward Once Upon a Toy.

Normally Danielle would get some Potato Head parts but she really wasn't interested. I did real good last trip putting her on a budget. She saved up $150 plus she had the birthday gift card. After having stuck to that she knew that whatever she brought with her was all she would have to spend. We had been encouraging her to save her money without telling her why. Not too long before we left she blew some of her money on Webkinz. I kept telling her she would regret it. She had very limited funds for this trip. We weren't really planning on making her stick to just what she had, but since she was being so good and not winning about it I didn't encourage her to spend my money. Kids are so much more selective when it's their money they are spending. We played a few games and then moved on again. It's sad but our kids are getting to be too old for the toy store, even Danielle. We finally got our first taste of Trend-D. I had missed it last trip and Michelle had never been near it. We looked around for a while but I kinda of felt it was overwhelming. Too much to see. We continued on into
Team Mickey which was only fair for Dennis. They had a few Saints and LSU items. Got our free chocolate at Ghiradelli, it was my favorite chocolate with caramel! Walked through Arribas Brothers, we had seen their distribution warehouse on our way in to the World. Our next stop was one of the stores we had never been into, Basin. We loved it. So much to see and smell. We made promises to return and buy some balls and soaps when we returned later in the trip. Finally it was time to enter World of Disney!

We entered by the pirate stuff.

The girls played along.

Dennis played a little too.

We looked around in the jewelry section and Danielle played the little girl card and got Dennis to buy her a necklace while Michelle and I were distracted. So not fair! First the agreement was to look only, not buy. Plus he bought her something without including the rest of us girls. Just another example of how Danielle has him wrapped around her little finger.

We walked around the little girl princess section and came across Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Of course the fact that it is near the bathrooms and we needed a break helped too. Danielle had an appointment at the castle store on Monday but we wanted to get a peak there too. A fairy Godmother in training was standing outside greeting guest and spreading pixie dust. Michelle was sprinkled.

Now it was time to head to one of our favorite stores the Lego store!

More Lego Store to Come!

Lots more Lego pictures!

Inside the store! and boy was it crowded!

More outside shots.

Looking across the water.

We were making our way to T-Rex to check out the outside area. We had a dinner ADR for later. The area around the Lego store and McDonalds was walled off so it made it real hard to get around.

We checked out the Trex area and took these.

Continued in next post. . .
