for a mastectomy.:worried: Shes only 42. She found a lump less than 2 months ago and it has been a whirlwind since. We took her to dinner and stayed at her house to keep her company tonight, but now I just cant get it out of my mind. Its just incredible how quickly things happen.

Prayers and pixie is greatly appreciated.

One of the ladies I work wih just went through this, at 45, single, never married, no children!! But she did the kemo thing, surgery and then radiation....now she has to take meds for the next 5 years...her mom died of breast cancer years ago.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your friend!

I hope your friend has alot of support from everyone. This is a time when she really needs people to be by her side. I think it was nice of you to take her out to dinner and spend time with her. to you and your friend. A special prayer will be said for her.

I'm sending along prayers and PD for your friend. I'm sure your presence is greatly appreciated by her!
She's lucky to have such supportive people in her life. :)

*hugs* To you all. Please keep us posted as to her recovery.

 and a prayer for your friend, and you!

My Mom went through a mastectomy last May, it was so hard on her. She's 66 and even though she said she wasn't depressed, she obviously was. It took her about 2 months to really bounce back from the surgery. Thankfully she didn't need any other treatment, and she's taking a pill to hopefully prevent cancer in her other breast.

She did just have a lump removed from the other breast a couple of weeks ago (she'd had 4-5 lumps in the other one, before the last one was cancer) and we just got the news from the surgeon Friday that there was no cancer, thank God. I don't know how she would have dealt with hearing bad news.

I pray all goes well for your friend.

Prayers and a reminder for ladies to get anything suspicious checked.

Last year I found a "lump" in my right breast. I went to the gyn. He sent me for Mamogram which showed nothing. He sent me to a surgeon who had me go for a ultrasound which showed nothing. The surgeon did an ultrasound again in her office and nothing showed. She thinks its just the way I am, but she is making me come for 2 more visits over the course of a year just to make sure. Am I happy it's nothing? You bet! If it was something would I be ready to take whatever steps necessary? You bet!

Your health is the most important thing you have. Take care of yourselves ladies!

This is VERY important. We have just gone through this with MIL, and although the medical technology is AMAZING today, and full and complete recoveries are more and more common, depression is a VERY real concern.

Just be there for her, listen when she needs to talk.

All my best to both of you.

I didn't see this until now, but my prayers are with your friend and you all

That is so scary! Sending good thoughts her way! You're a good friend to care for her like that. I'm sure she really needs you right now!

Prayers for your friend that all goes and turns out well.

I had a mastectomy at 32. I'm 52 now and still here! Tell her to keep her chin up. I'll be praying for her!
