Or if we did deluxe WL or AKL could be cheaper..Or maybe buying points at a DVC would be good..If we are there for the Food and winde festival and epcot area DVC might be good, plus we would have all the food and bar options at the boardwalk.
If we went moderate,PO is right next to DTD and would give us lots of fun after hours and eating options

I was thinking the same thing. DVC could be a way to go as many could stay in a villa and split the cost. I totally forgot abot akl and WL they are cheaper than the other deluxes. HMMMM.

I have never stayed on site. Well, once at the All Star Music and wasn't too impressed with it other than the price. Of course I would happily stay at any of the Values if that's what we all decide on because I don't plan on spending much time in my room anyways. And that would give me more money for shopping, drinks, eating out, etc.

I have been looking at the moderates and am I correct that these are what is considered moderate:
Caribbean Beach
Coronado Springs
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans French Quarter?

I have never been to any of these, but from this website Coronado Springs looks nice. :confused3 Any opinion on that place?

But close to DTD would be good too, since I imagine when the parks are closed we'll be there alot.

Aslso add CR wing rooms...And the rooms are huge and newly renovated...Of course I am military and can get cheap rooms,3 I believe at Shades of Green,But it's not very Disney..Or I could get rooms at the Military rate at the Swolphin

I haven't stayed there yet,But I'd love too..AP rates at that time of year would probably takes the mods down to 110 a night which is 55 $ per adult.
WL or AKL would probably be about 160$ standard or 80$ a night..

I live locally too and if I don't spend the weekend I would love to at least spend a day.........although I think that Sept. 28 to Oct 2 would be the better of the 2 weekends since the Food and Wine Festival will have started by then.........it would be great to have a bunch of giddy women to hang with! :goodvibes

My DH is staying at the Grosvenor at DTD in May for a Marine Corp reunion. They have a group rate which I think was around $89.00/night.

Okay, I really, really, really want to go. So now I have to work on DH. He just told me I need to give Disney a break :sad2: He just doesn't get it. So I will be watching this very closely and once y'all get more solid info I will work on him some more. Wish me luck.

OK, I go away for a little while, and this thread exploded! this is looking good.
I'd love to stay in a deluxe, I've never done that. Of course, I'd have to share. I stayed at Port Orleans when it was Dixie Landings and I loved it. I already have a park ticket. I bought it last year because I wasn't sure how many days I had left on an old ticket (I had enough, so I have a nice, unused 5 day park hopper!) I really hope I can go when this happens--this would be so great. And I think we've got to make this an annual thing.

$55 a night per adult sounds pretty good to me. I could live with that.

:thumbsup2 Yes, come and join us!! It really appears as though it's going to be the 9/28 thru 10/2 dates.

I bet alot of people would be open to staying at someplace like that. I mean it's a little different than when you are with your kids, you know? I understand wanting a really nice place for family trips and the whole magic part of it. But on a trip like this where we will hopefully be out and about most of the time and only need a place to crash, then less money on a hotel means more fun elsewhere.

Oh, we want you to come!! Just tell him how much more relaxed you'll be when you get home, making you a much better wife, KWIM? ;) :teeth:

AAHH! I just found this thread--and how cool would it be to be able to come--unfortunately, we have already planned our trip for the 1st week in September! :( Maybe next year for me! Have a great time! :goodvibes

I made an executive decision but DH is having a hard time with it. He says he is uncomfortable with me going alone to WDW with a bunch of strangers. I am not sure what he thinks y'all are going to do to me, but he still wants to talk about it later. That is code for "I am going to try my best to talk you out of this." I think honestly I have plenty of time to convince him it is just going to be a fun weekend away from him and the kids.

I'm definetly in! I'd go for a deluxe or moderate.

Just sign me up! :cool1:

That's right, just some harmless well deserved fun. :cool1: And we're not strangers here! We are a DIS family. :rotfl2: Strange? Maybe. Strangers? Nah. ;)

Maybe we could meet in the middle and pick a moderate

This is just my 2 cents and if it is agreed upon that the majority want to stay in the bargain (sorry, can't remember what it's actually called) then I will do what everyone else wants, but I would prefer to stay in atleast a moderate. My husband and I stayed at All Star Sports last October and it just wasn't our thing (that room was teeny!). That is the only time we have ever stayed on-site but I would really love to stay at Caribbean Beach :goodvibes

I think once we get a decent head count/number of rooms needed we can probably get a group rate at one of the resorts. Last year for the paintball tournament they were offering some of the moderates for $98 a night ($148 for Deluxe)-if we could get something like this worked, and if you share a room with another person that's pretty reasonable.

Also- My husband and I are coming for a week in November, so I think I might end up getting an AP once all of our plans are set.

I actually haven't mentioned it to my husband yet, I know he is going to feel the same way your husband does! AND he won't want me going on a great vacation without him but in the end he will tell me to go and have a good time!

I think a moderate might just be the way to go. Sort of a compromise.

The ones who are used to staying in a value will get a chance to stay at a nicer place because if they are sharing the room and splitting the cost it won't be so bad. And for those used to a deluxe, staying in a moderate won't be as hard on them as dropping all the way to a value would be.

I am really liking the looks of Coronado Springs Resort and possibly the Caribbean Resort. If anyone here has stayed at either of those two resorts and would like to share their opinions, I'd love to hear them. :sunny:

Ok, because I have to carry around the cardboard cutout of Briarmom, DH said I may go alone. :teeth:

Seriously, already trying to plan to meet up with some people we met this last year on the 29th, and don't want to give that up, but rest of the weekend, I would love to do the all ladies meet! :cool1:

Did I mention I am a FL resident, would be happy to do what I can with the room rates. I also vote for a moderate resort, my choice would be CB.

I've stayed at CS twice. It's beautiful there. I'd really love to try one of the other moderates though....just for variety. I'll stay at any of them. ....:)

According to the Disney website, we qualify for the Grand Gatherings, here is the link for info http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/special/magicalgatherings/howTo?id=MGHowToGuidePage

IF anyone is interested- We can set-up a gatherings page that would send e-mails to all in the party and take polls on ideas, chat with other members of the party etc. I would be willing to do this, but if someone else wants to do it feel free. Actually it might be easier to set that up than to keep scrolling through these messages, I'm looking at the application now and it's pretty neat. We would just need to get everyone's e-mail to get started! You can set-up polls which would be a good way to choose the resort and any dinner reservations we would want to make! (Sorry, I'm a "planner" and get a little carried away with vacations!)
