Ladies 40 and over-Do you agree with this fashion advice?

Well I will be 41 in three days. Coco Chanel said "elegance is refusal". To me that pretty well sums it up. Dressing with elegance and class shows maturity! It is not about pining about your past but embracing your future.

Showing my knees makes me a hoochie mama cougar? :rotfl2:

It's okay, you're not 50. The article is for 50 year olds, not 40 as we originally thought.

Also, I don't get where the whole "don't wear shorts" thing came into play. I didn't see that on her list of rules. Just short skirts. And I swear she must be talking about events where looks actually are paid attention to. Not running up to Costco or at Disney.

LOL:lmao: no I am talking about where the hemline on your skirt does not cover the dark part on your pantyhose and your muffin top hangs out and your chest is spilling out of a top 2 sizes too small because you cant admit you have gone up a couple sizes. You know 45 trying to look 21.!

:rotfl2: Oh, good, I'm safe then. Particularly on that spilling out of the top thing--my chest never spills out of anything, believe me! ;)

Christine--whoo, I'm glad I dodged a bullet on the whole 50 thing. My birthday is next week though, so I'm inching my way up there!:)

Well, I don't know about anyone else, because I didn't read the article, I was just going by the OP, which didn't include a link and said:
...someone over 40 should never show their knees in anything!!!
That sounds like it includes shorts to me. :confused3

I'm still trying to figure out why the OP was wearing boots in the Caribbean, or does Disney do an Alaskan cruise?

I do not agree with her advice but I don't think you need to dress like a hootchy mama either!! Some gal at Olive Garden tonight had to be over 50 and holy hannah... not appropriate. And she really thought she was hot stuff with her biker boyfriend.

I say wear above the knee if you have nice knees! Yeah!

She may be right but I think she off by some 20 years.

I think at 40 I still had decent knees, wasn't until my late 50 I started noticing sags, (elephant knees) At 61 I rarely where anything over my knees.

I also feel, if you have good looking legs Show them Off.
