Lack of Frozen

Hey All,

Just got back from an awesome 8 night stay in Disney. Fastpass + is awesome (more of that in a trip report later). The one thing I noticed was the serious lack of Frozen in the parks. I know they obviously have the meet and greet at MK as well as A&E in the parade and Celebrate the magic. That literally seems to be all. I realize that is much more than some movies get, but with all of Frozen success and how great of a movie it was, you would hope to see more. I'm sure with time there will be plenty, but strike while the iron is hot.

Six months from a movie's release is not enough time to flood the parks with it. I would not expect to see much more than a single minor attraction or small themed area (a la Tangled Restrooms) with time.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs movie was release in 1937.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opens TOMORROW.

What more are you hopping to see? The merchandise sells as soon as it hits the stores. They already have a meet and greet. Are you looking for a themed ride so soon after a movie's release?

Nothing permanent will happen until they find out if this is a fad that quickly blows over, or if it is something that will survive for years and years.

ITA with this. Too much risk associated with sinking huge dollars into a new movie. Will it stand the test of time, that remains to be seen. There are so many movies and so much material for Disney to draw on that it would be pretty tough to have them all highly represented in all aspects of the park. I think what they have now is pretty fair.

LOL! Exactly. A M&G so soon after the movie is all I'd expect to see. Adding to the parade probably happened faster with them than with Rapunzel or Merida. I guess one day we'll have their official ceremony welcoming them in to the Princess sister-hood. But likely not for a year or so.

I don't ever expect to see a ride. And still waiting to see Rapunzel or Merida added to a meal (regular, not a fill in line Rapunzel is from time to time)

Well, to be fair, there was a Snow White ride at Disney World since 1971, just not the newest Snow White ride.

I can see them doing a Tangled-sized themed area with a meet and greet for them. Beyond that, who knows. Maybe add in a a Sven's Sleigh Ride dark attraction too!

Does WDW have Olaf greeting guests, like Disneyland does?

Be patient grasshopper.

Look how long it took them to get a Little Mermaid ride. They won't wait that long for Frozen. Not that they are going to turn the whole park into Frozen land, but there'll be something.

As for the merchandise, if it's anything other than items that nobody wants except for little kids, like books and plastic tiaras and figurines, they can't keep it in stock. It sells the second it hits the shelves. It'll die down after awhile.

Not yet.

There is a rumor going around about Maelstrom getting a "Frozen" facelift. I would be shocked if this happens, considering that the ride originally contained music from the Sherman Brothers and more intense effects but this was changed because the ambassadors wanted a more Norwegian history ride for the family.

How would they feel if their ride got changed into a Norway-ish fantasy adventure with a talking snowman?

Either way, not everyone is Frozen crazy (I love it, but I don't want to see it at every turn). I think the M&G and parade float addition is enough. I will actually avoid anything Frozen related to avoid the crazy parent stampedes!!

There's still nothing for Wall*E. Its like WDW wants to believe that movie never happened.

Yes, the sky people need to decide if enough Unobtanium can be made before displacing the indigenous attractions.

:rotfl2:

EXACTLY! No fly by night fad movie ride developments unless it involves a film about blue people that Disney doesn't even own the full rights to. :thumbsup2

To my knowledge, Olaf doesn't meet anywhere--including Disneyland.

As much as my daughters LOVE frozen, I still wouldn't think this would be an attraction so soon, like the others said.

I'm still sad that The Lion King show left MK...I do like Philharmagic, but loved LK

If Disney were going to add something, I would think it would be something that appealed to BOTH girls and boys...that being said

Those princesses really bring in the $$$

Bottom line

This! Wall-E is my favorite Disney movie and there's nothing at all for it. I would be ecstatic if they even just added him to Celebrate the Magic.

Now that would be something easy that would appeal to boys and girls, and possibly spread out some of the A&E traffic

Mesaboy, you are just too knowledgeable...you are the bomb
