I know some of this was talked about here a short time ago, but I was hoping there was some more input....we're planning on going to La Nouba in January  ...
1. any recommendations on the best seats?...
2. Also, can you request specific seats when buying tickets? ...
3. I was thinking of ordering directly with Cirque Du Soleil, by phone. Anyone try this way or any other way. pros & cons?...
4. Is it advantageous to order 6 months early for a January show?
5. How early do the doors open before the show?...is it worth it to arrive early?...

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but I'll start with these :teeth:

Hi, I'm not in Canada, but the title caught my eye since we just booked our tickets for this just a few weeks ago.

I think the best seats are the ones as close to the center of the stage area as possible. I am sure everyone has their own opinion on where the best seats are, and I cannot really comment because we have never been yet. We will be going in December. We have the front row on the second level center.

I think that when you call for Cirque tickets, the location there at DTD automatically goes through Disney. Even on their main page that has all their shows throughout the world, it gives the Disney number as that location's number to call for reservations.

And yes, it is definitely worth it to call as close to 6 months in advance as possible. Sometimes they don't have the system that up to date, and run a little behind, but as soon as they have the date available that you need, I would book it as soon as possible. You can check how far they are booking up to on Cirque's website. (they also have a great map of the seats, and you can pretty much see where the good seats are from there.)
And I don't know how early they open the doors, and I don't think there is too much an advantage to being there early, except I heard that there is a preshow involving clowns that is pretty entertaining, so we were planning to be there to see that. I will just have to find out when that is....lol

We went to La Nouba two years ago so I will try to remember some of the details. I know we booked well in advance. I can't remember the specific seats but I do remember that we booked the more inexpensive seats but since we booked early, we choose the seats directly next to the most expense seats (if that makes sense!). We figured if the people sitting next to us paid a good price, our seats would also be pretty good but less expensive. We did call Cirque directly by phone and booked with them. It worked out very well and they sent the tickets by courier. We received them very quickly. I can't remember how early the doors opened but I don't think there was a very long wait until the preshow started, maybe 15 minutes to half an hour. I would definitely arrive early enough to watch the entire preshow--very entertaining. The show was fabulous and well worth the price! Hopefully, someone else can fill in the other details for you--enjoy!! :flower:

and just picked up at WillCall...mind you, that was after 9/11...and nothing was busy then...

We sat up quite far...near the back, centre, and our seats were fabulous. Obviously, we weren't close to the action:), but we could see everything wonderfully well - we got the whole overview of the "story"...

We're taking the kids this year - they'll be 8, and will book similar seats:)

The only thing about booking this far out for January is if there might be something in the Parks going on that same night that you're going to Cirque...shows and hours are so limited in January, and if your heart is set on SpectroMagic followed by Wishes - that usually happens maybe twice/week in January - you may not get to see that.

HTH!

:wave2: Great question Canadave!
We too are planning on going in Jan. Thanks for the tip about sitting next to the expensive seats, thats great! Are the show times at night? And I know it's about 2 hours. I thought maybe I could book at the Rain Forest Cafe after? Or would before be better? Thanks :flower:

I have been to 3 cirque shows and have sat in the same seats with each. I always sit in the center of the first row of the first balcony (section 203, row 1, seats 1 and 2). Absolutely amazing. No one is in front of you, and some of the action is directly in front of you. At one show, one of the characters acutally grabbed my hand, they were right in front of me - and I never had to turn my head around or move in any way to see the action in front or behind me like the peeple had to in the lower section.

I have always booked through the cirque line. If you book early enough, they will help you get the best seats available. I am leary to book with a place that offer discounts, as I am one of those people who wants the best of everything...

Is it worth it to arrive early....not really. The show doesn't start until the start time, and the actors don't roam about to meet people. If I had to do it again, I would only arrive about 15 minutes before the show to make sure that I get to my seats in time. If you want to get popcorn and a drink, be prepared to stand in line for about 1/2 hour. That area is not very big and unfortunately, they are always slow.

If you want to pick your seats, I would definately order them 6 months in advance. Your advantage is that you are going during a slower time of the year as well.

Enjoy the show...I love Cirque and am a huge fan. I have been in their "fan club" for some time now, and every opportunity I get, I will go to their shows. It's just unfortunate that they don't come to Alberta very often.

When we went in 2003 I paid top price for really good seats. It was our Honeymoon so I figured go big.

Our seats were fabulous (a couple of rows up from the stage) but if I went again I would not spend the premium since in that particular theatre almost all the seats are great. I have been to other Cirque shows and the seating can make a big difference but La Nuba was very well laid out. I would not pay for the lower bowl but try and get the bottom of the upper bowl in the centre.

I booked in October for Christmas week and got seats no problem.

The pre-show is great, I think we wnet about 1/2 hour early.

Thanks all for your replies...

ChisJo...looks like you had the best seats in the house (sounds as if they are the same spot as Michelle2's) ...are they the premium price tickets?....I assume you asked for them specifically and booked at the 6 month time slot?

DIS~n~JAN...I don't think you can book a PS (or whatever they're calling it now) at the Rainforest Cafe

We are soooo looking forward to this show...and now you all are just making the anticipation even greater :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Chisjo-we have also been 3 times and have had those seats as well.
They are awesome. You could get your tickets through ticketmaster.ca too.

I read somewhere on this board that the best seats are the one that is right smack dab in the middle, to the left and to the right of the sound-engineer. If you think about it, makes sense. That's the best visual and aural spot.

:rolleyes1

- best seats.. it really depends since the stage is in a U shape, you get to see everything.

- specific seats yes you can, question lies is if they are still available.

- whereever you order tickets are non refundable. prices basically the same.

- if you have specific seats yes 6 months prior is advantages but you lock yourself in that dates.... you sure there will be no changes in the next 6 months ??? again tickets are non refundable....

- CM suggest to be there 45 minutes prior.... last time we were there 20 minutes prior it got a little hairy so this September we'll make sure to do the 45 minutes prior to start time.

hope this 2 cents of mine helped even for a bit...

We finally ordered our tickets today :goodvibes ...because the tickets are non-refundable/non-transferable, we just wanted to make sure the "La Nouba" evening would work in with all the rest of our plans......anyway, we called Disney directly and got Section 205, Row CC, Seats 1 to 4 for February 4th, 6:00  ...can't wait, even the woman on the phone at WDW seemed excited :goodvibes :rotfl:

We ordered ours awhile ago, within a week Fed Ex was here. WOW! We are in row 206 AA hope they're good seats! Also wanted to tell you that you were right I couldn't make PS at Rain Forest. We have dining plan so I will make PS for Planet Hollywood. Thanks :sunny:

Sorry for not replying - yes, I had to order my tickets far in advance. The funny thing was, the first time I had gotten those seats, it was the lady at CDS that recommended them. All the seats on the lower end were already booked for hotel guests and special reservations, etc. (I called the earliest day I could to try and get the best seat!). She told me the seats that I should get are never bought first. Well, wouldn't you know it, they were the best in the house! I get them all the time now, and don't even regret it. I also told the lady that I didn't have a problem with spending money on the expensive seats. In WDW, spending $95 on a good seat seemed resonable compared to $150 in Vegas for the same seat - so to make a long story short, I don't know if they are premium seats or not! I just keep requesting the same seat every time I go to a show, and keep getting it!

You got really good seats - I hope you like the show. I have every intention of going again, and sitting in the same seats.

We saw La Nouba last year (Dec 3/04) and we were in Section 204 Row AA Seats 14 & 15....1st row of the second section right beside the sound/control booth....fabulous seats....they were considered premium seats and they were worth every penny...it was great not having anyone sitting in front of us!!!

If you enjoy the show, they sell a DVD of the show in the gift shop. We bought it and have watched it so many times. It's not the same watching it on your TV as it is seeing it live but it's a great keepsake to have.
