Contemplating going to La Nouba. How long does the show last? How long to get in and out of theater? The shows on our date are 6 pm and 9 pm. Just wondering if 9 pm gets to be a really late night.

We saw a Cirque show at our local civic center and I'm guessing it was a baby compared to La Nouba. Do you feel like the whole theater is an experience at La Nouba, or do you feel like you are just sitting in some seats watching some acrobats? Our local one was just about that. Ok, but nothing grand.

Also, considering Blue Man Group. Will pick one or the other.

Thanks!

The show is 80-90 minutes long and you line up 20-30 minutes beforehand. I think we were in a taxi heading back to POFQ by 10:40 or 10:45 after the 9:00 show (and we took a few minutes to look at the gift shop). We definitely got to our hotel room about 11:00.

I don't know that I'd say "the whole theater is an experience" but I doubt your civic center has 40' ceilings and a floor covered with trampolines and trap doors. The performers do go into the aisles somewhat but mostly the performance is on stage ... or 30 feet above it.

I thought Cirque du Soleil only ever performed in a dedicated space--either a building like at WDW or in Las Vegas, or a tent they take with them and erect. I didn't think they used other buildings. We have some troupe that comes here and performs at the local symphony hall, but it's not actually Cirque du Soleil.

I saw Allegria this fall that was in my city for about a week. It was good, not great though. I went to La Nouba about a month later and it was fantastic. The different lighting and effects they had in that theatre were so much better and the acts were amazing. I would definately go to La Nouba! We got the cheap tickets, last row in fact, and it was still awesome.

As a previos poster said the show is about 90 minutes and well worth it. It is a definite experience that my two DD's thoroughly enjoyed. I have not seen the Blue man Group so I can't comment but I would definitely check out la Nouba if you can.

is it expensive?

I considered it expensive but worth it - my mom and I really enjoyed the show. We had Category 1 tix (don't recall a Front & Center option) and wished we had Category 2 or 3. We felt we were too close to 'see' the whole show.

Right now (for 1/29, 6 pm) tickets are:
Front & center - $127.80 (10+ years)
Category 1 - $111.83
Category 2 - $90.53
Category 3 - $73

WDW site directs you to La Nouba site to buy.

La Nouba is definitely worth it. I've seen it twice, and would see it again. I'd probably rank it as the 3rd best Cirque show I've seen, after Mystere and O. It really has some outstanding acts in it.

In my opinion, there is a big difference between the touring Cirque shows in tents and the ones in dedicated theaters. Also, there is an even bigger difference between the touring ones in civic centers and the touring ones in tents. Touring tent shows cannot be as elaborate with the sets as dedicated theaters. In the civic center ones, you tend to be far from the stage, and the sets are even less elaborate than either of the other two options. Plus, they cannot do anything on an intimate scale in a civic center because no would would be able to see it. The shows in the dedicated theaters are definitely the way to go.

Also, the dedicated theaters are never that big, so our favorite thing to do is book tickets in the front row of the cheap section, preferable toward the center section on an aisle. You still get a good view, and it's very satisfying to know the person sitting in the seat directly in front of you paid a ton more than you did.

Edited to add: The La Nouba theater isn't on the same immersion level as something like O, so you may still feel like you're just sitting in seats watching acrobats, but the acrobats are amazing at La Nouba.

I am as big a penny pincher as you'll ever meet!

I refused to go to the show because of the cost, in spite of the fact that it looked like a GREAT show.

When the tickets went on sale this past fall, I was looking for ways for DH & I to celebrate our 25th anniv. So I splurged and bought tickets.

We LOVED it!!

Now that I have seen it, I would actually pay full price to go see it again. :scared1:

Yes, it's that good!!

Ditto. We've seen it twice and think it's one of the best things at Disney. The second time we sat in the next to last row and thought it was fine.

I'm so tempted to book my Mum and Dad tickets for this whilst we're over in May 2010. I keep asking him does he want to go and he does, but the price has now put him off.

Would you recommend just booking as a surprise for them? It's their 30th Wedding Anniversary in October so I could give them this as a gift I suppose.

The reviews seem like it's worth its price, just wondering if anyone has any more thoughts to share?
