I had both in our plans but decided that four days at Epcot might be a bit much.....lol ... so which one would you recommend? Both menus look great!

la hacienda, unless you have a thing for Remy and don't mind a bad meal. i am not a disney food basher, i get its created in mass quantities and it will not always be perfect but both times i ate at chefs de france the food was awful. i mean so bad i could not finish the meal and left hungry.

I, too, would choose La Hacienda. We went to Chefs in November and I get it also about mass quantity but none and I mean none of our 5 person family cared for it. We all ordered different things...sampled others and nope...just didn't like it. I will say I did like the creme brulee ( I know prob spelled wrong) but I also liked the Pistachio creme brulee they had at Tony's also.

No arguments from me about Les Chefs. Meh. La Hacienda, on the other hand was a big hit for us. Service was a little slow, but the food was delicious.

I'll be different - ate at them both last year and thought they both were very good to the point where I'd go back to either.

I don't like to repeat too many places so we are trying new ones each year. When making my ADR list this year I chose to repeat Chefs and not Hacienda. Chefs was a very good meal and all in the party of 9 enjoyed it, ranging from kids to grandparents. I also like the dining atmosphere in Chefs better than Hacienda.

I don't remember the food at Les Chefs -- since I spent almost 3 hours there for the meal - doesn't sound too bad until I tell you this was with a 2yo and 4yo. If you have kids AVOID Les Chefs.

My kids did great at La Hacienda, and I really like the food there too. I do remember that food. :)

If you eat at La Hacienda, ask for Esmeralda or Xanate as your server. They both do a great job. (And they're both very pretty as well.)

Chefs de France...

We've done both and Hacienda did not thrill us...we had a L-O-N-G wait to get seated past our ADR time. The meal was very slow moving. The food was ok...nothing spectacular (maybe we chose wrong???). We had seats back along the walkway away for mthe windows and that would have been great for Illuminations viewing except that there are huge pillars right in the way...but even that owuld not have been a problem until a very large waiter came and stood directly in front of our table while the globe was moving towards us...and ya, we couldn't see anything but his butt! And we had Esmeralda...she was good but the whole meal was slow....which might account for the late seating!

We might give it another try some day but we're not in a hurry.

On the other hand, we have never had a bad experience at Chefs...we do lunch or dinner there once every tip. Last time was dinner and the waitress was awesome with the kids teaching them about France and asking them questions and telling htem how to pronounce things on the menu correctly. They were 12 and 7 and loved the whole thing...even with Illuminations, Hacienda was not on their list of favorites.

I'd do La Hacienda. I enjoyed Chef's De France but eh, it didn't wow me. The food was very good, but most where things I could do at home. The lobster bisque is very good.

La Hacienda though I really loved, and so did DH. It has a great view of the bay and the food was wonderful. Maybe we just lean towards things that are more unique, but the spicing and fruits used at Hacienda were just enough off from 'normal' to be different and stand out. We did go back when it opened though, and didn't get a chance to return there when we were there last week (mostly because we made ADRs the day of that day and our hotel concierge told us it was booked, but he was wrong and had confused the names of the two Mexican restaurants :( )

I'm doing chefs in two weeks because I have a 9 year old who loves French and wants to have that experience....fair enough. I have read enough reviews of the place to realize that it is either going to be the worst meal of my life, the best thing I've ever eaten, or something in between.

Seriously... it's the one restaurant where I have never found a consistent opinion on the place. Accordingly, I believe we will all be sucked into a wormhole and thrown into an alternate universe with a slightly altered timeline while eating there, and that when we return, we'll all be 1/4 taller.

That way, when that doesn't happen, I can't possibly be disappointed in the experience.

We have had two great experiences at Les Chefs (dinner and lunch) and one great experience at La Hacienda (dinner). Both settings are lovely (though at La Hacienda, you have a chance of a spectacular view). Les Chefs has Remy. La Hacienda has margaritas from La Cava (these are really special). Les Chefs has the best onion soup ever! I personally would have a hard time choosing between the two. DS(15) says Les Chefs for sure! He is a cheese hound!

Is there any way you can do Les Chefs for lunch? They have a pretty reasonable prix fixe menu (choices are limitied, but you still get to sample the flavors, and you still get Remy)...and then La Hacienda for dinner? We have started to add a few sit-down lunches in Epcot, since we have a hard time choosing between favorites. Some of the lunches are fairly priced, and even if you're on the dining plan, they're not so tough to pay for OOP. Our two favorites so far are Les Chefs and Biergarten. Via Napoli is another that many try for lunch...we're doing this in August!

Just a thought.

I've eaten at both several times. Les Chefs' quality has eroded to the point that I will not return. The last meal I had there was beyond horrible, and the service was not much better.

My experience with La Hacienda has been much better. I strongly recommend the shrimp tacos! :thumbsup2
